III. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
A. Preliminary Activities

Checking of Attendance
B. Review

2. What are the three classification of matter?
3. What is the difference between solid and liquid?
C. Motivation

1. Tear the paper into small pieces
2. Burn the paper
3. Burning of a candle
D. Activity
1. Group Activity
2. Distribution of the activity sheets
3. Publishing and reporting
D. Analysis
1. What is physical change?
2. What is chemical change?
3. What is the difference between physical and chemical change?
E. Abstraction
1. How do you know when chemical change has occurred?
2. How do you know when physical change has occurred?
F. Valuing
1. Did everyone participate in the activity?
2. What trait did you show when you were doing your group work? (cooperation)
3. Why is cooperation is important in any group work ?
G. Application
Give each student one or two pieces of scrap paper, newsprint, or pages from old

for the paper as possible. They may want to tear, cut, or color on the piece of
paper. They can crumble or even wet the paper too. Encourage students to be
creative! Afterward, have each group share a few of their examples with the whole
class. Then challenge the groups to think of how paper can go through chemical
changes. They do not have to carry out the changes, only list their ideas. Have
them share these with the class.
