Introduction
Are you getting enough sleep every night? Do you think that 5 hours of sleep
is enough to reboot your energy level? No, it is not. Yolanda Smith stated that “there
are various factors that may cause an individual to get insufficient sleep and lead to
or sharing a bed with a partner that snores, and especially parents who commonly
experience sleep deprivation, that will wake up any time at the night to feed or care
an infant.
Deprivation?, it is stated there that “sleep deprivation occurs when you do not have
enough sleep at night.” Some people may consider sleep as a waste of time and do
kind of problem is most likely to be seen in teenagers and young adults, because at
their age, they do a lot of things that will make them sleep deprived like school works,
Staring at screens with our gadgets can also lead to sleep deprivation. It can
brought myriads of stressors. Blue light, emitted from all digital devices with screens,
is a proven enemy of sleep. It sends signals to your brain to limit the creation of
This study will benefit to all of the students, not only in senior high, but also in
other levels. First of all, this will truly help the families of the students. This will succor
in making the parents fully realize what causes their children sleep deprived; they
will then know what actions must be done, thus making their relationships stronger.
According to Dr. Matthews (2008), “When parents are aware of the problems within
or that concern with their children, and are then solving it, this will eliminate isolation,
loneliness and alienation of their children. Their time with their children will become
longer than usual.” As for the school, academics-wise, this study will help the
institution come up solutions to the addressed problem/s to not only improve the
welfare of their students themselves, but also for the betterment of the institution
itself.
The respondents will also benefit from this study for they will have more
knowledge in regards with this matter, sleep deprivation, which is common among
students, and one of the intriguing issues and problems students are facing
nowadays. Lastly, this study will benefit the researchers. This is because this study
will help them deeply understand the problem or the matter, sleep deprivation.

Research Methodology

approach design for the study. Quantitative type of research emphasizes objective
research that focuses on gathering numerical data and generalizing it across groups
since this establishes only association between variables which are Sleep
located at La Purisima Street, Zamboanga City. The respondents of this study will
be the Senior High School body, students from Grades 11 and 12 coming from
University.
In finding out what the sample size will be from the population, the
researchers use the Slovin’s formula. The population of the said body is … Using
the said formula, the researchers will now know the number of samples or
respondents who will participate in this study. There will be … student who will be

are selected according to a random starting point and a fixed, periodic interval.”
Given that there are … senior high school students of Ateneo de Zamboanga
University and … students, using the Slovin’s formula, who will be the respondents
of this study, the researchers will now be able to know what the nth number is or the
interval is. Every …th number on the list, they will be the respondents of the study.
The researchers will use an instrument which is a survey to gather data from
the respondents, wherein they will answer 10 questions that are listed on the
from general-specific way. This is to help the respondents answer the questions in
those. The answers will be in a format of Likert Scale. This ranges from 1 – 5; 1 will
be the lowest and 5 will be the polar one. Technically, these questions will be close-
ended ones.
Data Analysis
In doing the analysis, the researcher takes the following steps: 1) Classifying
the factors that affect their intrinsic motivation; 2) Analyzing the data by ranking the
recognition, identifying the differences between the different factors gathered based
