INTRODUCTION

A water tank is a container for storing water then will be used for
drinking. Almost all water tanks were made from different types
of elements as long as it has the ability to store. The means
and make of these tanks evolved with time. Elevated storage
tanks are used to deliver water either through large
distribution systems or through stand pipes located at or
near the source or at other communal watering points.
Elevated storage tanks are used where ground storage tanks
cannot be built due to lack of sufficient natural elevation and
where standpipes are served from a well with a windmill or
other powered pumps. Elevated tanks can serve either a
large community or a small group of families. Elevated tanks
do not have as large a capacity as ground storage due to the
need for a tower structure to support the tank.

WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM AT HOME
1. System continue - water supply supplied from direct service pipe to the
whole pipe equipment at home.
2. System indirect - water supply supplied from water meter through
service pipe to storage tank and kitchen tap.
FUNCTION OF PIPE
In water supply system at home there are a few pipes and every pipe have
function - function that is certain:-

communication pipe
• linking main pipe with pipe metres

service pipe
• linking water meter to water storage tank and kitchen

distribution pipe
• distributing water from storage tank to piping equipment

overflow pipe
• channeling overflow of water from tank from water storage tank if floating ball valve
damaged

pipe wash
• piping dirty water out from water storage tank while work wash tank

Water Storage Tank

 Use : containing water before distributing to piping equipment in the
house – house
 Made of : galvanic iron piece, glass fibre or poly (HDPE) plastic.

WATER TANK COMPANT

• nlet pipe
• Outlet pipe
• Overflow pipe
• Scour pipe

PART FUNCTION

A.pipe key regulating water entry into tank through service pipe

B. service pipe supplying water into storage tank

C.inlet valve regulating water entry into tank

D. float regulating the water level in tank

E. pipe wash producing water while work wash

F. pipe key opening and turn water pipe

G. distribution pipe carrying water to parts in house

H. overflow pipe producing water if valve damaged

I. tank cover protecting deep water tank from pollution

TYPE OF PIPE
BG PIPE
 Was made of iron coated zinc
 Size set by diameter hole
 The simple tap end thread

POLY PIPE
 High Density Polyethylene – HDPE
 Black coloured
 Cut use PVC pipe cutter or saw

Poli Vinyl Chlorida (PVC)

 Used as service pipe, distribution pipe, waste water flow
plumbing system.

Connector Pipe

 Type connector : SOCKET SAME
 Use : Continuing stem pipe and piping outfit that same diameter

 Type connector : ATTENUATOR SOCKET

 Use : Continuing stem pipe that is unequal diameter

 Type connector : 90˚ ELBOW SAME

 Use : Changing direction extension stem pipe that same diameter in
90˚ angle
 Type connector : 90˚ ELBOW ATTENUATOR
 Use : Changing direction extension stem pipe that is unequal diameter

 Type connector : TEE SAME

 Use : do pipe connection branch that same diameter

 Type connector : TEE ATTENUATOR

 Use : do pipe connection branch that unequal diameter
 Type connector : HEXAGON NIPPLE
 Use : continuing 2 kinds connector / piping outfit that near (same that near
(same diameter)

 Type connector : MATCHMAKER SOCKET

 Use : continuing pipe that same diameter without turn existing pipe
 Type connector : PLUG
 Use : blocking out pipe end that unused.

 Type connector : PENYUAI VALVE SOCKET

 Use : Continuing pipe that is different type like BG and PVC.

 Type connector : PT SOCKET

 Use : Continuing PVC pipe to pipe outfit

TYPE OF TANK
TYPE OF TANK DESCRIPTION
FIBREGLASS TANK :
 rustproof and resilient to
chemical substance erosion. it suitable for
installation above floor or columned.
this tank capable of holding extreme
temperature and has many colour
choice due to made that light,
his installation is easy.
STAINLESS STEEL TANK :

 can reduce water carried infection risk. Have been

managed easily and resilient erosion.
This tank also cleaner and safer to environment.

FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC :

 much lighter jike compared with different

ingredients. Not channel eletrik current, rust
resistant and erosion. Has
resilience value that high and may be issued with
various colors, can be painted and less
maintenance
POLYETHYLENE :

 Manufacturing without extension give the tank shoc

k strength that
is better and detention advantage towards rust
erosion and chemical substance. Poly tank life
span had better compared to steel
tank that likely leak or crack. Poly tank easy to be
standardized and attach to space apart
from it cheap, compared to steel tank
Galvani Iron tank:

 made in the form of panel. The system

installation involves cost that is low and need brief
periods for installation. This tank is
most popularly used in Malaysia for industrial
use and use in residential areas. This tank is
very suitable for installation that difficult. Tank
size able in change by just making additional
new panels.
WAYS TO WASH WATER TANK
 Prepping the Tank
First, drain your water storage tank. You want as little water as possible in
the tank in order to effectively scrub away any growth.

Depending on the type of tank you have, you might have to use a
submersible sump pump or connect the tank's valve to a hose that will
deposit the water somewhere outside. Make sure you place the hose in an
area where an onslaught of water won't lead to erosion or flooding.

 Scrubbing the Tank

Once the water has drained from your tank, it's time to start cleaning. Mix
four parts hot water to one part household bleach and use it to scrub the
inside of the tank. The tools you use to scrub will depend on the size and
positioning of the tank. You might be able to use a hard-bristled brush or a
mop with an adjustable handle. Power washers are another great tool for
eliminating any kind of bacteria, silt or algae that may have grown on the
sides of the tank.

 Flush the Pipes

Your water pipes can also be home to bacteria. As a final cleaning step,
pour some more of your cleaning mixture into the water storage tank and
use your pump to run it into your home's pipes. Run your taps with hot
water until the water that emerges from them are free of the cleaning
solution. Then, rinse the tank thoroughly and dry it completely.

The average home water storage tank should be cleaned about once a year.
However, if your tank receives direct sunlight, it's more prone to algae and
bacteria growth. You might want to clean it more often, such as every
three to six months.
