Adapting to the new trend is remarkably challenging for teachers especially those used to traditional way
of teaching. It is important to acknowledge that students are already interested and engaged in using
technology for it creates many amazing opportunities (Savvidis, 2016). There has been a remarkable
advancement of technology and teachers must advance with it too. Teachers are expected to take
professional development courses to make it possible for them to learn how to use and integrate
technology into their everyday lessons (Cox, 2013).

There are countless reasons why technology is a key aspect of learning in the school. Wantulok (2015)
posited reasons why technology should be used in the classroom:

1. Students demand it.

2. New teachers are demanding it.
3. Kids are the digital native.
4. Kids can learn at their own pace.
5. With technology, there are no limitations.
6. Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students.
7. Testing has gone online.
8. Multitude of resources.
9. Technology keeps kids engaged.
10. Technology is necessary to succeed outside of primary and secondary education.

As the digital world develops, the education system adapts. Being a teacher in the digital era means being
open-minded and willing to adapt the new trend. The digital world has so much to offer. It has the
potential to reach more children than ever before. It has the potential to create more career opportunities
for teachers and it also has the capability to motivate unmotivated students to engaged more in classroom
interactions. Cox (2013) has enumerated simple ways to motivate students:

1. Appeal to their interest.

2. Utilize technology.
3. Keep learning fresh.
4. Offer Incentives.
5. Praise your students.

Through these ways, students will be motivated to not just do their tasks, but also to like it. Thus, making
the school a place where students do not just learn but to have fun as well. Technology also has the ability
to promote positive student behavior ( Bielefeld, 2016). This includes:

1. Focusing on the task or assignment.

2. Making positive statements to peers.
3. Completing work.
4. Complying with the teacher's request.
5. Reading pages of text during study periods.
6. Completing Math computation problems.

Technology indeed is a powerful tool that can support and transform education in many ways, making it
easier for teachers to create instructional materials and enabling new ways for people to learn and work
together. Through the convergence of traditional and modern methods, students get to experience the
best of both worlds, they can learn in school and get additional lessons through the Internet.

A survey conducted by Pearson Foundation in the United States found that more than six (6) in ten (10)
college students and high school seniors agree that they study more efficiently by using tablets. With the

A study conducted by Hougthton Mifflin Harcourt in California also showed that students using ipads
performed better in Math compared to students using traditional textbooks.

development of various music-related hardware and software programs that enhance the quality of music
learning and teaching, music composition and performance, and music listening and appreciation skills.
Crow (2006) recognized that access to computer programs enabling the user to control and manipulate
frequencies and tempos and add vocal and sound effects alters music to the extent that it becomes a
“novel creation”.

Technology is clearly a tool of innovation. Todays students are born into the digital age and are fluent in
the digital language of computers, video games, and the Internet (McCombs & Vakili, 2005). If technology
will be used inside the classroom, students will not have any difficulty on adapting and understanding it.

Technology facilitates the work of teams and provides ample time for all round development. The teacher
