EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The local Government Code in 1991 that devolved health services from the national
government to the local government units, setting of goals for facility health delivery systems
rely solely in careful planning by the local government units of the specific health facility with the
other major stakeholders that provide technical supports.
The Buruanga Municipal Hospital has been initiating innovations and interventions in
fulfilling our gaps. This is primarily giving quality health service to our constituents which brought
a positive impact to the health system of Aklan. The systematic implementation of our
performance indicators plays a major role in determining the health needs of our constituent.
Our Maternal and Child Care, the hospital census indicates an erratic increase in our
facility based delivery from 2014 -2017. We recommend and suggest to every pregnant woman
to complete at least 4 antenatal visits. Breastfeeding was initiated after birth in 100% of our
postpartum mothers. The Facility had 1 team of BeMonc trained manpower. Our facility conducts
a Newborn Screening Program. This is to screen all new-born’s in the facility. These infants will
be screened for congenital metabolic disorders, thus avoiding disabilities or even death.
The facility has attended DOH TB DOTS training. We are TB DOTS referring facility thereby
we assess and monitor every patient with high risk indicators for TB. Enrolment to the Tb program
is a must to further enhance treatment monitoring. Advocacy in promoting awareness of this
deadly disease. Attendance of the facility staff to awareness promotion lectures, mini
conferences and orientations of new advocacies and management updates is a must.
Promotion of healthy lifestyle illnesses which is the leading cause of morbidity and
mortality in the past years is being done at the outpatient service by the Physician on duty that
disseminates information and give advice to our clients.
Water-borne disease is also one of the leading cause of hospital morbidity. This is
attributed to attitude of the community to improper waste disposal and improved personal
hygiene.
Hospital census shows increasing number of Out Patient consultations, thus resulting to
increasing number of hospital admissions and increasing levels of incidence of Community
Acquired pneumonia, Acute Gastroenteritis which are the leading causes of hospital morbidity
and mortality.
As to the Manpower, Buruanga Municipal Hospital operates with 17 plantilla positions
and 15 casual employees.
The facility has its own transport vehicle that transports patients to hospital of choice
when referral is made.
