Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 10 English

I. OBJECTIVE General Objective: at the end of the one-hour class session, 75%
of the students should be able to show knowledge about facts
and beliefs

Specific Objectives: at the end of the one-hour class session, 75%

of the students should be able to do the following tasks:

 Define Fact and Belief

 Identify facts and beliefs
 Write a paragraph that contains fact and belief

MATTER
Study and Thinking Skills Towards English Proficiency, pp. 124-126

III. LEARNING Activity: (Whole Class)

PROCEDURE
The teacher will flash on screen random sentences.

1. The Nile is the longest river in the world.

2. Pollution can kill fish and plants that live in rivers.
3. Dr. Peter B. Miguel is the Mayor of the City of Koronadal.
4. The Nile is the most beautiful river in the world.
5. Teenagers are too moody to be trusted.
6. Enrique Gil is the most handsome actor on the Philippine
television.

Analysis: (Whole Class)

1. What have you observed in the first three sentences?

2. How about the in the last three sentences?
3. Are you familiar with that kind of statements?
4. What do you call those statements?

Abstraction :
 The teacher will discuss the topic “facts and beliefs/opinion”

Application: (Group Activity)

 The teacher will divide the number of students into 4

groups.
 Each group will be given a cut out words of “fact and
belief”. They will raise their cards if the shown statement
on the screen is a fact or an opinion or belief.

IV. EVALUATION The students will write one paragraph about a past or about their
school. The paragraph should contain several statements of fact
and at least one opinion statement. The students are going to
underline the fact statement once and the opinion statement
twice. They will write in a ½ crosswise paper.

V. ASSIGNMENT 1n a ½ cw, make at least five sentences with a fact statement and
five sentences that tells about belief or opinion.
