Present predisposing factors

Age: The risk of high blood pressure increases as you age.

Heredity: High blood pressure tends to run in families. Mother and father have
hypertension as well as other siblings.

Present Precipitating factors

Lack of Physical activity: Exercise increases blood flow through all arteries of the
body, which leads to release of natural hormones and cytokines that relax blood
vessels, which in turn lowers blood pressure. Lack of physical activity also increases the
risk of being overweight.

Stress: High levels of stress can lead to a temporary, but dramatic, increase in blood
pressure. If you try to relax by eating more, using tobacco or drinking alcohol, you may
only exacerbate problems with high blood pressure. Relaxation and meditation
techniques effectively lower blood pressure.

Too much salt in diet or sodium sensitivity: Too much sodium in your diet can
cause your body to retain fluid, and also causes the arteries in your body to constrict.
Both factors increase blood pressure.

History of Smoking: Not only does smoking immediately raise your blood pressure
temporarily, but the chemicals in tobacco or cigarette can damage the lining of your
artery walls. This can cause your arteries to narrow, increasing your blood pressure.

Methods Done prevent sudden or constant increase in blood

pressure:

Mrs. Rosemarie Patangan reported that she had a history of cigarette smoking and
occasionally drinking alcohol before, but it was at her mid 20’s that she stopped
smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages. What she does now is she repent from
those, She now changed her diet, a semi-vegetarian diet. She consumes mostly fruits
and vegetables and refuses to consume meats from chicken, pork, and beef except for
some kinds of fish for almost 8-9 years now. She doesn’t eat bread that has high
concentration of butter and lard oil or any bread instead she relies mostly in brown rice
even though she is not diagnosed with diabetes, sweet potato to prevent constipation,
natural fruit juice and sometimes even boil leaves of malunggay and lemongrass as her
tea. No salt and no artificial seasoning diet and low sugar, low fat or nonfat, aren’t like
her previous diets years and years ago. She is now slowly reconstructing her sedentary
lifestyle and does minor or non-vigorous exercise daily like walking around the park for
30-40 minutes every morning and sometimes zumba. Does get herself checked once
every 4-6 months, unfortunately she doesn’t take her maintenance meds regularly due
to her own self belief that it may damage her kidneys and liver and fear of developing
drug dependence. She has better control of her emotions now compared to before, she
doesn’t let her emotions drive her anymore, she now has strategies on how to calm
herself down like listening to music, praying and talking things out. And does engage in
natural treatments from Dr. Alternatibo and other homeopathies that she think are great
in regulating her health condition hypertension.
