Lesson Plan
Number, W.8.6
and description: Use technology, including the internet, to produce and publish writing
and present the relationships between information and ideas
efficiently as well as to interact and collaborate with others.
Learning Objective: The students will be able to use online tools efficiently to help them
further their writing skills. They will be able to use the internet to put
their ideas out there in an organized way when writing. They will also
learn how to communicate with their peers online when collaborating
with them.
Learning Activities: The students will first be watching a video from Teacher Tube going
over all of the different digital tools that one can use for different
lessons. The video goes over five different lessons and the ways they
are able to use technology to help them. While the students watch the
video, they will fill out a graphic organizer. After the organizer they will
move to the computer lab and be placed in their groups for the
research assignment.
Activity 1: Video
The students will first watch a six minute video going over the digital
tools that are available out there to help them. The video will allow
students to use technology in the most efficient way, when writing.
Assessment/evaluation: For this lesson, each student will be graded based on their
participation and use of digital tools in the research assignment as well
as their completion of the graphic organizer. I will have each student
turn in their organizer and once I make sure they are all completed, I
will hand them back for future uses. As long as they participated in the
group discussions that I placed them in and used at least three digital
tools, they should all have a good grade.
