Prelude
Regional planning strategies, targeting
specific areas for agricultural development
are essential and effective instruments for
bringing the needed change.
The state of Odisha encompasses land area
of 15.57 million ha. The state has 3 distinct
divisions – Northern, Central and Southern
divisions. Of the 30 districts of the state, the
Southern Odisha constitute 10 districts. The
Southern Odisha is having 19.27 lakh ha of
cultivated area under different field and
horticultural crops besides fisheries and
animal husbandry.
In 2011, South Odisha had a population of
81 lakh comprising 45.5% ST and 15.8% SC,
with 17.4 lakh rural households and 2 lakh
urban households. 90% people in the region
live in the rural areas. Their livelihood is
primarily based on subsistence agriculture,
forest produce, wage labour and distress
migration.
Realizing the need for agricultural
development of Southern Odisha, the M. S.
Swaminathan School of Agriculture,
Paralakhemundi has planned a National
Seminar to bring information on problems
and prospects and suggest strategies to be
adopted for its’ development.

Call for Papers
Conceptual review, research and case study
based papers related to seminar topics are
invited. Soft copies of abstract (about 300
words) and full length paper (about 3000
words) on A4 size typed in Times New Roman
with single space 25 mm margin all around in
font size 12 points in word format should reach

Instruction for Authors
• Invited papers will be given 30 minutes.
• Contributory papers will be given a
maximum of 10 minutes for presentation
followed by 5 minutes for question-answer
session.
• For 10 minutes presentation, a maximum
of 12-15 slides will be preferred.
• Title slide should contain author name(s)
and affiliation(s).
• Please follow the standard Microsoft Power
Point templates.
• Font must be Times New Roman with font
size of 42 points for Title and 24 for text.
