Summary, Conclusion, and Recommendation

This chapter summarized the results of the study and methods followed to achieve

it. It also provides the researchers findings and recommendations for the issues

researched and analyzed.

FINDINGS

The first objective of the study was to determine the relevance of social media in

changing the mindset and emotional behavior of the youth. Data analysis and

interpretation relating to this objective revealed the following major findings.

First, it revealed that most of the students in CNDNNHS owned a smartphone

which is 62% and it gives them easy access to the internet and 18% of the students have

no smartphones and internet access.

Such sites offer to today’s youth is a portal for entertainment and communication

that have grown exponentially in recent years.

Second, it reveals that 55% of the respondents are frequent user of social media

sites; 48% of them spent several hours using their social media profiles and 45% of them

are either a frequent or non-frequent user of this sites; 52% of them does not spent several

hours on social media online for a day.

The technology used by the students are more brand new and innovative that

makes it more affordable.

Third, 73% of the respondents thinks that internet brings entertainment; 33% of

them admit that they are a computer addict and 26% of the respondents said that social

media is not a portal for entertainment; 52% of them said that they are not computer

addict.

Fourth, the study wants to determine the awareness level of the students including

their continuous use of social media. The awareness percentage of the students about the

relevance of social media sites in changing their mindset and emotional behavior are 57%

who is totally aware, 28% are slightly aware and 15% were not aware.

The different impact of social media to students are also a part of the study’s

objective both positive and negative. As the survey was conducted 43.3 of students from

different year level “agree” that social media has a great positive impact on their own

education. Education in social media likes to explore the emerging technologies as new

and improved tools to enhance instruction and learning.

 76% of students agree that social media helps them with their assignment; 7%

it doesn’t help while 17% chose to respond Neutral.

 51% of respondents use social media to nourish their relationship with family

and peers; 23% thinks it doesn’t helps them with this matter and 26% respond

Neutral.

As for the other side which is the negative impact almost 46.1% of the students

are affected experiencing the disadvantages of social media sites not only on their life as

an student but also their personal life.

The different feedbacks of their friends online on their profiles affects their self

steem just like when they gained a positive feedback they are more likely to enhanced

their confidence and personalities while on the other side when gaining negative

comments from friend they tend to decrease their self steem and well being.

CONCLUSION

This study was investigated the impact of social media in changing the mindset

and emotional behavior of the of the students in CNDNNHS. This study intended to

evaluate, and describe both the negative and positive impact of social media to students.

The study employed survey design in gathering primary data using questionnaire

as a reasearch instrument. This study targeted a sample of 90 students at all year levels of

CNDNNHS. The data gathered as analyzed with descriptive technique using Microsoft

Excel.

It was found that social media brings advantage when it comes to education using

it as a creative tool in learning. Social media can be a great medium for collaboration of

ideas and other issues online. It is a constant source of information for students, but

because of this exposure disadvantages are also at the line.

SUMMARY

This study lays on the impact of social media in changing the mindset and

emotional behavior of the students in CNDNNHS. The majority of the students from

CNDNNHS have had access to the internet through their smartphones. Expectations in

using technology for students are meet through the way of their education and self

improvement but unwanted results had risen up. Despite of the advantages here comes

the negative impact of social media that affects not only the students school performance

but also their relationship with others, mental, physical, and emotional health, this is due

to the influence of social media to them because it is a place for free thoughts on any

issue about political, education and etc. Youth tends to have a different point of view in

life especially that affects their attitude. It is an alarming aspect because it comes out that

students are not aware about the results of too much usage of social media. Youth are

more prone to danger because of social media thus especially now that most of the people

thinks that they can play a positive role in changing our society.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The study provides information that the researchers gathered from the survey that

was conducted in Ciudad Nuevo De Naic National High School in Sabang Naic, Cavite.

The study can be used by future researchers that wants to study the same or related to our

topic.

The researchers wishes that the readers of this thesis would have an in depth

understanding and knowledge about the impact of social media on student's changing

mindset and emotional behavior, and some would be encouraged to start a way to fade

this problem that can worsten the youth.

Although, this study was focused on the impact of social media on students in Ciudad

Nuevo De Naic National High School. The results may be used for future promotion of

general campaign in purpose of lessening the negative impact of social media on

students.
