Time of Reading
3:35 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., New Hampshire.
1. GC: You will have before you this life existence in the
earth plane of [2067] - born January 6, 1887, in Boston,
Mass., and the earthly existence of this entity as Dorothy
Manley in Salem during the witchcraft days. You will give a
biographical life of the entity in that day and plane of
earthly existence, from entrance - and how - into the
earth's plane, and the entity's departure; giving the
development or retarding points in such an existence. You
will then answer the questions she submits, as I ask them,
concerning her present work in writing and also details as
to that period.

possible.

Let me hear from you when you have time to write. You did
put me down for the rest of my Reading, for the Association
work, next August 25, did you? You wrote last time you
could do that, but it would be nearly a year ahead. I will
appreciate it if you will do that, since I do want a good
Reading on that Salem witchcraft time, as Dorothy Manley.

Please let me hear how you get along with the publishers
and the publication. Best regards to all. I pray for you
constantly.

Thank you for yours of the 9th. We are most [more?] than
just busy. Our Congress was quite a success. Everyone
pronounced it one of the best that we have ever had.
I trust that you are really enjoying the summer. You are
getting a great deal of mental relaxation and spiritual help
from your work this summer.

Thank you for writing. I hope things are well with you and
with every good wish, I am
Thank you so much for your good letter just arrived last
night. I am anxiously looking forward all the year to the
August 5 Reading you promised me. I do hope you will be able
to give it at the regular scheduled time. You would not
disappoint a needy soul after all this long wait, if you can
help it, will you? If you just can't help it, will you work
me in at the first possible moment free, as this Reading is
a very important one to many people as well as to myself -
because it concerns the work that reaches many.
Enclosed is a card - please say that you got my enclosed
questions O.K. which I am sending you herewith. I have
arranged them as you suggested, all on one topic together,
and I have asked as a mere suggestion, if Mrs. Cayce could
tell the Forces at the beginning what the Reading is about
- the clarification of the Dorothy Manley or Maury Reading,
general questions and writings, and then if they will permit,
my seal and its interpretation. She will know if this can be
done. Also if they get to not wanting to answer a certain
type of question, she will omit the rest of the type and go
on to something else.
2067-12 Page 7
I hope Gladys can take the notes for the Reading and
transcribe them - she did not before, I understand - and
maybe things got a bit mixed. I don't know but maybe my
condition was not good then and that influenced the Reading.
Yes, the summer is a busy one, working hard all the time,
long hours - but it is good. I have time to discuss your
book THERE IS A RIVER with interested neighbors, also the
work of the Association. I have a family coming from Melrose
to ask me further questions about spiritual things in August
- they want to know more about your work, etc. Some camp
counsellors also here are interested through the Essene
pamphlet, among others. The Quaker people here are
interested.
Sincerely, [2067]

25. Did I see children and others who were bewitched who
had pinpricks and marks left on their bodies by discarnate
forces? Is this true? Were animals killed?

Dear Friend, I need help on these things and have done the
best I can. Can you help? This is to be a clarification
Reading with the questions.

I was gone nearly two weeks, and came home feeling mighty
bad. Have been home nearly a week, but haven't been able
to get back to work.

do hope very much that we can carry through and get your
questions in just about as orderly a form as possible in
answering all those that you have indicated.
Thanking you very much for your help and your interest, and
with every good wish from all here.
As you know, Wing has had two or three other books that have
been the most popular books on prophecies, having sold
upwards of 300,000 copies. I think this one will also go
like the wind. He could have sold many others if he had
them printed - but paper has been short during the war.
So you have a son four years old - how nice! I had not
realized that time had gone so fast. All my three children
are marriaged and have children - all returned from the war.
Kindest regards to Sally.
Do you yet know of any psychic who will take your father's
place? do you have anybody in mind?

Since the term "Essene" was not popularly known, only the
learned knowing it, it is easy to account for the lack of
references to the Essenes in most of the popular histories
or writings of the time. The Essene attire was so
distinctive and unique that among the populace they were
often known as "the brethren in white clothing", for after
initiation each member adopted a robe of white composed of
one piece of material, such as the "seamless garment" worn
by the Master Jesus. Silence seemed to be the motto of the
Brotherhood. When they did speak they were well trained in
the value of vowel sounds and the use of their voices in
incantations. They were soft-spoken in conversation and
were often known as "the soft-speaking men." Those who
were called "the healers" or "physicians" spoke softly
to their patients using certain vowel sounds without any
evidence of a formula. They often performed the greatest of
cures by the simple laying on of hands or by instructing the
patient to retire to the silence of his home while the cure
was concluded in a psychic manner. Some historians claim
that the word "Essene" comes from the Egyptian word "kashai"
which means "secret". There is a Jewish word of similar
sound, "chsahi" meaning "secret" or "silent" and this word
would naturally be translated into assaios or "Essene",
denoting "secret" or "mystic." Even Josephus found that
the Egyptian symbols of light and truth are represented by
the word "choshen" which transliterates into the Greek as
"Essene". A branch of the organization established by the
Greeks translated the word "Essene" as being derived from
the Syrian word "assaya", meaning physician, into the Greek
word therapeutes, having the same meaning. While most of
the members of the Essenes were healers or physicians, the

who left the great community to live a holy life with the
permission and under the direction of the law, were to
be found in Israel from the remotest times and were formerly
known as Nazarites."

Even Herod the Great could find no fault with the "Brethren
of the White Clothing" and showered many favors upon them,
and even excused them from the taking of oaths, even the
oath of allegiance. They gained favor with the King of Judea
because of their exactness in prophecy. History states that
there was a certain Essene named Menahem who was celebrated
not only for his uprightness but also for the foreknowledge
of the future. When he once met Herod as a boy going to

They interpreted dreams, exorcised devils, and performed
miracles, bringing peace to the soul, healing to the body,
and guidance through the predictions which never failed.
Their holy and beautiful lives were exemplified in the words
of the Master when He said, "He that loseth his life for My
sake shall find it, but he that saveth his life shall lose
it." In renouncing the temporal side they won the glory of
that which is eternal. They regarded the body as the soul's
prison house. They bore their hardships and trials
rejoicing, having learned that wisdom and self control are
crystalized pain. The teaching held paramount was the
complete control of all passion and emotion, the importance
of which was stressed in the very beginning of the training
of neophytes. They not only forgave their enemies But sought
to benefit them. Their heroism during the reigns of various
kings and rulers is described by Josephus who declared that
they were not afraid to die, and often preferred death to
mortality.

The Essenes rose before daylight and did not speak a word to
anyone until after sunrise. To them the sun was an emblem
of Divine Light to which they offered traditional forms of
prayer as if beseeching it to rise. With the following
words they began their hymn of national praise for the
renewal of the light of day:
2067-12 Page 32
The Sabbath day was observed with the utmost rigor, since the
Essenes took special care not to be guilty of "neglecting the
assembling of themselves together as the manner of some is" -
words that are attributed later to Saint Paul. Ten persons
constituted a complete and legal number for divine worship
in the synagogue, and in the presence of such an assembly
utmost reverence and respect were maintained and no Essene
would even expectorate in such presence. In the synagogue,
as in the dining hall, each took his seat according to age
and properly attired. There were no ordained ministers
with exclusive rights to conduct the services, but any one
who desired to do so took up the Scriptures and read them,
while another who had much experience in spiritual matters
