Lesson D  Reading and writing

Education for
Tomorrow:
An Interview with Professor Adam Kwan
Professor Kwan, what are your predictions for education twenty years
from now?
People will use the Internet more and more to take classes in many
different subjects, and in many different places! For example,
students will study a math or history lesson online, and then upload
their homework to the teacher by e-mail or even on an e-learning
platform. Students will attend famous universities in another country
without leaving home.
These changes sound very exciting.
I also think we will spend more time studying. In the future, people
will change their jobs many times. People will have three or four
different jobs in their lives, and each time they’ll go back to school for
more training. So we’ll see people of all different ages in colleges and
technical schools.
What about the subjects children study in school? Will that change?
Yes, definitely. Children will use computers and tablets in school
from the very beginning—at six years old. And foreign languages will
be more important. All children will learn two or three languages in
school—it’s easy when you’re young.
