HAZARDOUS WASTE

(Muhammad Irfan)

Assalamualaikum and good morning to my beloved lecturer and fellow friends.Simply

defined,a hazardous waste is a waste with properties that make it dangerous or capable of
having a harmful effect on human health or the environment.A hazardous waste is a waste
with properties that make it dangerous or capable of having a harmful effect on human
health or the environment.Hazardous waste is generated from many sources, ranging from
industrial manufacturing process wastes to batteries and may come in many forms, including
liquids, solids gases, and sludges.

Waste can be divided into two types which are solid waste and hazardous waste.
Solid waste is defined as any unwanted or discarded materials that are not a liquid or a gas.
While hazardous waste or scheduled waste is any discarded solid or liquid that is toxic,
ignitable, corrosive or reactive enough to explode or release toxic fumes which are harmful
to human health and the environment. Both of these are harmful to human health and cause
up environmental pollution.

Effect of hazardous waste.Pollution of water occurs when there is contamination of

water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater which is due to anthropogenic
activities that badly affected the human health, animals and plants. Water pollution is a
serious problem in Malaysia and it impacts negatively on the sustainability of water
resources. It has been stated that the major sources of water pollution in Malaysia are
domestic waste from urban and rural areas, and industrial wastes which are discharged into
natural water bodies. There are few types of pollutants that caused the water pollution which
are synthetic organic, elemental pollutants, and other inorganic pollutants.Heavy metals
such as Cadmium, Lead and Copper are released into the water bodies from the industrial
sectors. These metal wastes are poisonous and high in toxicity. Once they entered the water
bodies, it will pollute the water. The water pollution will cause death of aquatic life and
decreased or limited the clean water supply to the human and agricultural use.

In my opinion, there are many ways to avoid this hazardous waste especially at

home.To reduce hazardous waste use natural-ingredient products to clean whenever
possible.Keep drains clear with baking soda and hot water, use vinegar and lemon, and opt
for other non-toxic household cleaning products.Next, seek out and use natural and
environmentally friendly ingredients and products.
Another possible solution is to have the government fund new projects on how to
possibly recycle toxic or hazardous waste in a manner that is safe and productive. One
approach to recycling is to transfer one companys waste to another company that can use it.
One successful reuse of a waste material involves pickle acid, ... The pickle acid is
transferred to a power plant that generates electricity with geothermal steam. The iron
sulfate in the pickle acid reacts with the hydrogen sulfide found in geothermal steam to form
a sludge of iron sulfide and sulfur; this sludge is a valuable addition to some soils (Kiefer,
1981, p. 52, 53). If a waste can not be recycled in some way then there is the possibility of
separating the hazardous materials it contains.

Lastly I would like to told you about my heroes who is known Alucard,he said nothing
last forever we can change the future. So everyone must take an action to avoid the
hazardous waste.Thank for lending me your ears.I hope all of you will get some important
information.Sorry for my bad English.
