Assessment:
1) This is a 100%CA module. There are 10 assignments (workbook + voice recording + typing), 3 quizzes, 1 test, 1 project, and 1 oral test in this semester.
2) We apply the flipped classroom approach. Please prepare before you come to classes, i.e. watch the Videos, listen to Podcast units, study the textbook and follow the
animated Character demonstration and PPT, memorise the vocabularies and key sentences. Your class performance in lectures will be graded based on the following
criteria:

Important Notes:
1) Attendance of classes is compulsory. You are not allowed to make up for classes or tests that you have missed unless you have a valid medical certificate from a
registered doctor. In such cases, please email your lecturer with the medical certificate attachment ASAP.
Frequently asked questions:
*. What is the effect on my grade if I missed a test or quiz?
In cases where the teachers do not accept your reason to ask for a make-up test or quiz, you will receive zero marks for the missed test or quiz. You may still pass the
module based on the merit of your CA if your performance on other CA component(s) is high enough.
*. What can I do if there is a sudden demise in the family during the quiz/test period?

If there is a sudden demise in the immediate family (siblings, parents and grandparents) during the quiz/test period, you must email your teacher immediately once you are
informed of the news, together with a copy of the Death Certificate for possible arrangement for make up quiz or test in the same week or next one.

2) You have to attend the group you are allocated to. Attendance will not be counted if you go to another group.
3) Please only use New Practical Chinese Reader Workbook 2nd edition. Some assignments have listening exercises. Please refer to the CD for the audio recordings. Please
tear off the respective pages to submit in classes. Remember to write your name and lecture group number.
4) You are to submit the assignment on the designated day in class before class ends. Assignments submitted late will be marked, but the score will be 0. If you foresee that
you will be absent, please submit early or ask your friend to submit on behalf.
5) Only the written part of assignments will be marked. Please self-check the answers for MCQ and simple questions using the provided answer sheets.
