FIELD STUDY – 1
(Pre-requisite: Child and Adolescent Development)

Objectives:

The students will -


 verify the behavior of the child/learner in the actual learning environment.

 recognize feasible approaches to facilitate learning in consideration to the


learner’s social environment.

Learning Task:

1. Observe the assigned classes. Record the manifestations of the different phases of
child development of the learners in every class.

2. Document the students’ behavior and show evidence of existence of the following
learner’s performances. Narrate how these developments are shown or present and
paste a picture to show evidence.
a. Gross Motor Development (large muscle coordination, strength and
stamina)
b. Fine Development (eye – hand coordination)
c. Pre-writing (stages of grasping writing instruments, the role of finger and
easel painting, and pre-writing)
d. Cognitive Development (intellectual functions such as reasoning, problem
solving and knowledge)
e. Language Development (expressive and receptive language)
f. Self-Help (ability to cope independently and responsibly with skills of daily
living.
g. Personal/Social/Emotional (self-esteem, perception, and knowledge of
personal life, interpersonal behaviors such as cooperation, ability to relate
to a group, sensitivity to others and helpfulness)

FIELD STUDY – 2
(Pre-requisite: Facilitating Learning)

Objectives:

The students will -

 gain knowledge about their disciplines and activities that enhance learning.

 be introduced to the application of different theories of learning and knowledge


acquisition that promote the cognitive and metacognitive processes, postive
motivational processes and the use of varied resources of learning in the actual
learning environment.

Learning Task:

“Writing Various Techniques in Teaching a Subject Area”

This will assess various practices of teaching techniques in teaching a subject


area. It will identify the significance of these practices in preparing propective teachers
in engaging their own design and pathway studies appropriate to the tasks of a
professional teacher. It introduces prospective teachers as active researchers to the
classroom context.

1. Observe the school learning experiences the teachers demonstrate using varied
techniques of teaching. What are the strengths or what development needs would
be worth focusing on in this observation?

2. Analyze the technique. Write your observations.

3. Incorporate more enhanced or sophisticated technique that can be worked out.


Detail your suggested technique based on your observation of the students
behavior.

4. Indicate key features of the technique affected by the experiences and willingness to
make changes on classroom instruction.

5. Reflect on and plan for continous improvement of various teaching techniques using
productive pedagogy. Write a summary record or development plan.

FIELD STUDY – 3
(Pre-requisite: Principles of Teaching)

Objectives:

The students will -


 be able to identify conditions of instruction which will optimize learning, retention
and learning transfer.

 internalize sociocultural and cognitive issues regarding the design of learning


environment which can be supported by computer tools and other indigeneous
materials.

 translate principles of learning and instructional materials of learning in order to


give a unique learning experience to the learners.

Learning Task:

1. Observe the educational aid used by the teacher in the classroom. Describe some
key features of the educational aid used and describe its relevance to what is taught
in the classroom.

2. Make written records which includes reflective responses of the observed classroom
activities. Detail your insights about the activities used.

3. Based on your observations, reflect on how you can effectively facilitate student-
centered learning to challenging students for them to become reflective and

and technology. Write your reflections titled “My Learner-Centered Innovative
Educational Technology.”

FIELD STUDY – 4
(Pre-requisite: Curriculum Development)

Objectives:

The students will -

 identify all instructions and learner activities, arrangement of strategies,


resources and procedures to promote learning.

 analyze the learning needs and goals, and match the subject matter to the
instructional methods.

Learning Task:

1. Observe the class of assigned subject area. Note the tasks done by the teachers as
they do their lessons in the class. Record the tasks that you have observed.

2. Develop a lesson in the target learning area. Select a particular lesson in a subject
area of your choice and make a lesson plan using any of the teaching techniques
that you have learned in the classes you have observed.

3. Teach the prepared lesson to a class and evaluate one’s own performance. Make an
arrangement with one class so you can teach the lesson you have prepared. Write a
paper detailing the insights that you have gained through your experiences. Title
your paper, “My Teaching Experience.”

FIELD STUDY – 5
(Pre-requisite: Assessment of Learning)

Objectives:

The students will be able to -

 apply principles in constructing and interpreting traditional and


alternative/authentic forms of high quality assessment, processing data and
result in reporting and interpreting the learner’s performance to improve teaching
and learning.

Learning Task:

1. Based on your own observation, how did the teachers assess students’ learning?

2. What were the strategies and tools used by the observed teachers to assess
students’ learning?

3. Select a subject area. Develop a rubric to measure the quality of performance or the
range of effect (as the case may be.) Discuss the merits of the rubrics that you
prepared with your coopertaing teacher.

4. Make an arrangement with one class so you can teach a lesson and use the rubric
prepared. Make a narrative report of the experiences provide evidences on the use
of the rubric. Ask the cooperating teacher to sign your prepared rubric and narrative
report.

(Pre-requisite: The Teaching Profession)

Objectives:

The students will be able to -

 describe the characteristics of the teacher as a person.


 identify the competencies that make up a professional teacher.
 clarify one’s personal values, attitudes and beliefs about teaching.
 discover best practices of the professional teacher.

Learning Task:

1. Observe the classes assigned. Identify the desirable characters of the teachers
towards the learners and the best practices they do in the classroom.

2. Interview your assigned teachers. Ask them the following: 1.) How do they become
interested in the teaching profession; and, 2.) How do they design their professional

“The Teacher and the Classroom.”
