1. SECTION: PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to supervise Water proofing for Terrace area work with safety
and ensuring that proper quality control will be exercised at site.

2. SECTION: SCOPE
This procedure describes the methodology to be adopted at Water proofing for Podium garden
areas for residential project at Vizag.

3. SECTION: RESPOSIBILITES ( Client’s Scope)

 Safety Engineer: Safety Engineer shall be responsible for safety of all persons involved in
the job.
 Resident Construction Manager: He shall be responsible for overall management of all
construction activities at site.
 Construction Manager: Construction Manager is responsible for monitor the daily
construction activities at site.
 QA/QC Engineer: QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for site QA/ QC activities,
Non-conformance management and compilation of records
 Field Engineers: Field Engineers shall be responsible for the site construction activities
and implementation of all plans following safety & quality standards.

PROCEDURE FOR WATER PROOFING IN TERRACE GRADEN ( LAND SACPA ) AREA

Using MYK SCHOMBURG waterproofing construction chemicals providing and laying waterproofing
for PODIUM and providing screed with slopes towards drain outlets , as per specifications listed below .

STEP 1 – Base treatment

24 hrs Initial static water test shall conducted to identify the leakage in mother slab. If found any
leakage in surface it shall be treated by pouring low viscous epoxy if the cracks are below 5mm, and for
the cracks more than 5mm open the crack by cutting groove in size of 6mm width and 12mm in depth
and pack the same with MYK Grout M65

STEP 2 – Bore packing

 PVC Pipe has to be roughened and surface to be applied with bonding agent MYK BOND SBR
45to the requirement. Please note that, SBR 45 coat shall be applied in wet condition and sand has to
be sprinkled for better results.
 During the wet condition sand to be sprinkled over the treated surface and pipe shall be fixed in
position.
 Bottom portion has to be sealed properly with shuttering and backer rod to ensure leak proof.
Core cut surface has to clean with wire brush to receive the bond coat of MYKBOND SBR 45shall

applied on the edge and also on the inner portion of the core once pipe is fixed and bottom sealed
properly as said above. The cavity or gap between pipe and bore should be filled with MYK GROUT
M40 non shrink grout slowly so that no air entrapped in the pocket. Water required for 25kg bag of MYK
GROUTM40 is 4.75lts @ W/P Ratio 0.19. Once its mixed should be used within 15 minutes.

 Bore packing shall be tested with static water for 24hrs for confirmation of no leakage.

If Found Any Leakage, groove has to made around the pipe up to the depth of 10mm and MYK BOND
SBR 45 should be applied in the groove around the pipe and surface will be coated in pipe and floor up
to 150mm MYK bond SBR45 applied if once again leakage found bore packing to be repeat from the
start for particular leakage pipe and static water test will follows.

STEP 3 – Making Gala/Coving/Hunching

 Cut a grove all along the Interface surface of masonry and sunken slab, and shall be cleaned
neatly by using wire brush without having any loose dust and foreign materials, pack the grove with
cement, sand ( 1:3 ) and MYK Bond SBR 45 mix
MYK BOND SBR45 to the weight of cement.[ MYK bond SBR45 is added at 10 % by weight of cement
and maintain a water cement ratio of 0.45 ]

STEP 4 – Final treatment with SINGLE COMPONANT POLYURETHANE COATING MYK COAT WPU 1K
(High solid content UV stable Polyurethane waterproofing system )
 Cleaning the surface neatly by broom free from loose dust and other foreign materials
 The mix material is to be applied on the prepared pre wetted surface (SSD conditions) in 2 coats
after priming with MYK Induprime EPW 44 .
 1st coat of MYK Coat WPU 1k by brush or Spray @ 1kg per sqm
 Install 50 gsm geo fabric all along the applied area
 With the brush or spray 2ndcoat of MYK Coat WPU 1k shall applied after 4-6 hours of the first
coat @ 1kg per sqm, Use a combination of longitudinal and transverse brush application procedure
alternately for better result.
 The above said all the process shall be done up to 300mm vertically around the wall.
 Static Water test shall be carried out for 24hrs.

STEP 5 – Protective Screed concrete

 Screed concrete to the thickness (based on slope and drop) shall be done over the protective
coating after 12hrsof curing time in the ratio of M15 by volumetric basis with the admixture of
MYK PROOF WP 10is added to concrete at the ratio of 150 Gms per bag of cement.
STEP 6 – Installation of MYK Aquadrain 20mm
Install MYK Aquadrain 20mm all along the podium garden/ landscape area with an overlap of 2” at
every joint and joint is properly sealed with MYK Bond VK 4031 adhesive, install the MYK Aquadrain up
to 50mm above the soil fill level on the verticals.

8. SECTION: SAFETY
1. All workers should wear safety PPEs.
2. Proper working platform should be made.
3. Proper housekeeping should be ensured at the place of execution.
4. Scaffolding and its base shall be strong enough to withstand all loads which are likely to
come. (Dead and live and wind loads).
5. Proper inclined supports and handrail shall be provided in case of height of scaffoldings
more than 3m.
