Spanish 1 Course Description:
Welcome to Spanish 1! This course will develop and continue to develop (for native speakers) the fundamental skills of
Spanish language acquisition. Throughout the course we will focus on the importance of Spanish language and the
communities and cultures it accompanies. All lessons and activities will involve the six essential components of
language learning: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and culture. Engaging in and mastering each of these
areas is required to pass this course and to prepare you for Spanish II and future language acquisition.
Spanish 1 Objectives:
By the end of Spanish 1--
1. Students will have developed their Spanish vocabulary to include knowledge of 1000-1500
2. words by the end of the year.
i. This will allow students to comprehend spoken and written pieces.
ii. This will allow students to respond verbally and compose written responses.
3. Students will express ideas, comments and questions in Spanish at least 60% of class time.
i. This will prepare students for success in Spanish 2.
4. Students will craft paragraph responses following the C EEL (Claim, Evidence, Explanation, Link) criteria.
i. This will prepare students for success with critical thinking required in college.

1. Binder with 5 tabs (Homework, handouts, notes, rubrics, and quizzes)

Academic Dishonesty
Cheating in any form will not be tolerated and will result in a 0 for that assignment as well as administrative
involvement.
Absence Work
If absent, follow this procedure:
● Check the digital agenda on my weebly and complete the work.
● Email me with any questions.
**NOTE: Students should have absent work by the next class meeting without penalty. If not done by next class meeting,
follow steps in late work policy.
Late Work
Turn in all missing assignments by the next Monday with 1 Pink Slip (w/ parent signature). No pink slip equals a zero on
that hw assignment. This excludes classwork.
Reassessment Policy
● Tutoring and homework completion is a prerequisite for any reassessment.
● Has to have turned in assignments on original due date.
● Reassessment on formative ONLY (must be completed prior to summative assessment)
Restroom Policy
Students are allowed to use the bathroom 5 times per semester. Sign in and out and turn in one of your bathroom passes
to Ms. Bojorquez. If there are remaining passes by the end of the semester, extra credit will be given per pass.

As a student in Spanish 1 at Alliance MIT, I, ________ __________ agree and promise to do my very best to
become a bilingual/multilingual student by:
❏ Coming to class with a willing attitude and with the intention to give 100% participation.
❏ Developing my Spanish vocabulary to include mastery of 1000-1500 words by the end of the year.
❏ Expressing my ideas, comments and questions in Spanish at least 60% of class time.
❏ Crafting two paragraph responses following the CEEL (Claim, Evidence, Explanation, Link) criteria.
❏ Submitting ALL my required work online and complete and submit my class portfolio.
Guardian/Parent Contract
❏ Responding to Ms. Bojorquez’s beginning of semester and end of semester parent involvement needs.
❏ Reaching out to Ms. Bojorquez with any question, comment or concern over my student’s participation in
Spanish 1 or as a student at Alliance MIT.
