Do you agree that history repeats itself?

If yes, then cite at least 3 instances from the past of

our history that could substantially support your claim in relation to the events at present.

Before delving into the topic, people must know first what the phrase ‘History repeats itself’ means. By

definition, it means the repetition of similar events in history. The phrase’s origin has been traced back

to various persons like George Santayana, Winston Churchill, etc. The general idea that history repeats

itself allows us to create predictions about the future as well as deeper understandings about its causes

and effects. When a strange coincidence occurs, we may find ourselves uttering said phrase. The general

idea of history repeating itself, however, can be likened to a much more ancient one. This aphorism is

rich in meaning and relevant to many aspects of our lives as well as our country’s history. History

repeating itself can only be identified through certain patterns happening over time, similar events that

occur again and again. The idea that history can repeat itself can be interpreted in different ways, first is

that history might mean a person’s individual history, meaning that two or more people have similar

experiences or it could mean human history, here it means that each successive generation of human

beings kept acting in similar ways to that of the previous ones. This paper will concentrate on the latter

way.

Learning or studying about history is extremely important. In a saying by George Santayana, “Those who

cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”. Studying about our past history gives us a

better understanding of the present times which in turn, gives us a means of generating better

predictions for the future.

History does repeat itself. How? The reason is that people tend to do the same mistakes that the past

have done. Instead of coming up with a better plan for the future, we would often see the usage of 'just

like back then.' It encased the minds of the majority to keep living on the past. That is, the downside of

knowing "history." History repeats itself because everybody believes that the point of history is retelling
events but it should not end there. People should provide solutions to that event because if not, people

would likely to do it again. It complements the term/phrase "Nabubuhay sa nakaraan" since people are

too bound to traditions, some of them are not open to changes thus reject ideas that could improve the

future. I seriously do not know what the fuck am I doing right now. Like bruh im pulling absolute bullshit

from my dumbass

In order to prove that history does repeat itself, this paper will cite a couple of events or scenarios from

the Philippine history which is believed to be being repeated today.
