PROJECT REPORT FOR A DAIRY UNIT OF 10 COWS

INTRODUCTION:

Dairy industry has forged ahead as the fastest growing and well established sector, not only of
the livestock, but also the agriculture as a whole. According to the recent survey conducted by
National dairy research institute – Karnataka state is endowed with diverse national source in
addition to 142 lakhs cattle population. The livestock density is 53 per Sq. KM. India stands No.1
in milk production in the world.

With the tremendous response received by the rural folk, the Co-operative sector Karnataka
milk federation has a well established network, which procures any amount of the milk produced
by the farmers and extends the animal health coverage, supplies concentrate feed, fodder seeds
etc., Apart from it, the state animal husbandry department is also engaged in providing artificial
insemination, animal health coverage facilities. The present milk procurement rate is also quite
encouraging.

With the availability of very good breeds of milking cows, concentrate feed, green fodder,
veterinary aid, well established marketing network and attractive price for milk have boost up the
dairy industry in our state.

Milk is considered as wholesome food and every day's essential commodity for the public.
Hence, there is a need to encourage dairy farming in a big way to overcome malnutrition problems
as well as to enhance per capita consumption.

Further, the proposed site for dairy farm has the ideal climate for rearing crossbred cows and
it provides very good market for milk too.
PROMOTER :

Swaminathan S S/o Siddeshwarappa, Kenchammanahalli, Y. N. Hosakote hobli pavagada (Tq),

TUMKUR (Dist). hails from agricultural family, is keenly interested in agriculture and allied

activities, He is having enough experience in rearing CB cows. Besides, their family members

have more inclination towards animal husbandry activities. Their assistance will definitely go

long-way in efficient management of the proposed dairy project.

At the outset, he has around 01 acres 30 guntas of land. The site proposed to start the dairy

project is near to the village limits. Veterinary aid will be provided by the veterinary dispensary,

Lingadahalli Which is just 6 kms from the proposed site. Besides this veterinarians from milk

union are ready to extend their services, which will also go a long way in implementing the dairy

project efficiently & effectively. The produced milk will be sold to the MPCS, Lingadahalli. In the

above background, I am confident that the project will be implemented smoothly and managed

efficiently.
