Instructions and Format

for the
Module 2 Assignment
( for Strict Compliance )
Slide 2: Activities to be Undertaken: Part 1-A
• Make an assessment of your classroom in terms of :
room dimension, facilities available/can still be made available, equipment available/can
be readily made available, class size vis-à-vis classroom dimension , facilities, equipment
• With the result of your assessment as reference, decide on the kind of activity setting (flexible,
integrated or variable) that is suitable for the instructional strategies that you will employ.
• Design a floor plan of your thinking classroom showing the physical layout (i.e. desk placement,
seating arrangements/assignment, classroom space design, equipment, etc.), in accordance with
what can be made possible in your classroom based on your assessment AND most appropriate
/responsive to your chosen activity setting and HOTS strategies
• Prepare /submit a written text :
A. Introduction: A brief description of your school and its facilities, your original classroom ( class
size, dimension, resources available , etc) and, based on your assessment an information on the kind of
activity setting you have chosen ( flexible, integrated or variable) and the HOTS instructional strategies
you plan to use for the design), citing the reason why you have chosen such activity setting. Take a whole
view picture of your original classroom
B. Description of Your Thinking Classroom: Describe each of the elements in the layout of your
Thinking Classroom and explain why they are essential for your thinking classroom. Take an actual whole
view picture of your transformed classroon.
You can be as creative as you can, given the technological support available, so instead of a written
description of your Thinking Classroom you created out of your original classroom, make an animated
powerpoint presentation ( Powtoon, for example) which you can upload in You Tube, showing what you
have changed of your original classroom to come up with the floor plan needed for your chosen activity
setting., including the reasons/purposes for such changes

Slide 3: Activities to be Undertaken , Part 1-B ( Visit to
Thinking Classroom by a panel)
a: Invite your school head, teaching supervisor, and some colleagues to visit your thinking
classroom. Provide a feedback form for them to make recommendations on how to
further improve the physical environment of your thinking classroom. Make clear to them
what they are to assess/evaluate. Discuss with them the activity setting you used and the
HOTS strategy/learning activities you planned to conduct using the activity setting you set
up in your Thinking Classroom, BEFORE the panel will evaluate your Thinking Classroom.
b. Consolidate feedbacks/recommendations given by the visiting panel for entry into
appropriate columns in your My Thinking Classroom Action Plan ( Observations,
Strengths, Areas for Improvement). You can include your own self-identified areas for
improvement in each aspect other than those suggested by the panel
c. Based on the given feedback, formulate your action points to show how you will make
and implement the necessary improvements. Reflect these in the appropriate column in
your My Thinking Classroom Action Plan
• In planning your action points, you should make each action point responsive or
congruent with each of the suggested areas for improvement or your self-identified
areas for improvement. Take into account considerations such as possibility of
budget allocation/donations, availability of classroom space, and so on.

Slide 4: Part 3: Lesson Plan
1. Develop a semi-detailed Lesson Plan on a selected topic in the subject area /grade level you are
teaching, showing the use of the activity setting created for the Thinking classroom you put up, and
the strategies/activities integration of HOTS you planned to use for the development of the lesson’s
objectives in any or all of the stages of the teaching –learning process
( Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, Application, Assessment, Assignment/Agreement) or the 7
E’s if the lesson plan is for a science subject )
Lesson plan should contain evidences of the:
– Use of effective questioning and instructional approaches,
– Use of an approach or strategy ( strategies) integrating HOTS discussed in Module 2 through the
Learning tasks given your students, e.g. any of the Thinkers’ Keys, Six Thinking Hats, Socratic
Questioning , Collaborative Learning Groups, Think-Pair-Share, Graphic Organizers, etc,
– Use of a scoring rubric for any of the tasks but more in the Assessment.
2. Present your semi-detailed Lesson Plan to your School Head for review and feedback
3. Prepare for submission a REFLECTION (300-500 words) on the insights you have gained
from the professional consultation with your school head, and what improvements
you will make to integrate the chosen HOTS strategies more effectively in your lesson
plan.
4. Finalize semi-detailed lesson plan for submission, after the professional consultation with your
school head . The semi-detailed lesson plan should be preceded by a brief description/identification of
the HOTS strategies integrated in which stage of the teaching-learning process.
