Dear Members and Friends of Christ the Redeemer,

THE SURE FOUNDATION CAMPAIGN to raise the funds necessary for the purchase of our church home at
188 Elliott Street is approaching $500,000, almost 1/3 of our needed $1.6 million.

So many folk have been so very generous in time, talent, and treasure in direct pledges, gifts, and
fundraising ventures. Only Bonny and Caleb Loring actually see the amounts given as they write thank
you acknowledgements, and they have testified to me that they are humbled by the spirit of sacrificial
giving reflected in many of the donors, even those presently unemployed. I was especially touched by
one such gift. A couple, who are still active members of Christ Church and who were very saddened
when many of us left to start Christ the Redeemer, nevertheless sent a donation with an accompanying
letter of blessing and encouragement. The husband has been unemployed for over two years. Thank
you, Lord, for such grace.

Good news! Rejoice that we also recently received a challenge pledge of $100,000. Every new or
increased gift amount received by the campaign between now and January 11 will be matched, up to
$100,000. This is a wonderful encouragement to us and it is my and the campaign committee’s hope
that every single member and friend will contribute to the campaign, knowing that even the smallest gift
will be doubled.

The committee playfully divided up the property cost in dollars per square foot: $1.6 million cost for
200,000 sq. ft. = $8 cost per square foot. We would like everyone to have a sense of ownership, if only
to own one square foot! That is everyone, including every child of our parish. As of the end of October,
about 100 individuals have made contributions. I estimate still 200-300 more folk can give and move us
forward to our goal. Again, even the smallest gift will help. In December we plan to call all who don’t
already “own a piece of Christ the Redeemer”, to make this hope of 100% participation a reality.

So please prayerfully, sacrificially, generously give and help us move forward. The larger amount we can
raise before the January 15 closing, the smaller mortgage we will need; the smaller the mortgage, the
more of our budget can be dedicated to mission and ministry. If you have any questions or desire
assistance in arranging your giving, do not hesitate to contact Caleb or Bonny Loring.

I end with the prayer I composed for this campaign which we have been praying at all Sunday Liturgies:
Most gracious God, we thank you for our beautiful church building and grounds. As Solomon prayed,
“Heaven and the highest heaven can not contain you, much less this house”, yet we believe that this
place is a good gift from you. May the sanctuary be a dwelling place of your presence with us. May the
altar be a source of the living water of your Spirit flowing through us into the world. May all ministries
and facilities that are built at Christ the Redeemer glorify your Name and expand your kingdom. So we
thank you and pray for the resources we need to purchase the property at 188 Elliott Street for our
spiritual home; through Jesus Christ, our great high priest. Amen.

Your Rector and Priest in Christ,

Fr. Jürgen Liias
