SAMPLE ANSWER
In the 1970's, a group of people raised the question about whether non-human animals should have
rights or not. Some people say they should, because they have feelings like us and this fact should
be taken into account. Other people believe that animals are inferior to humans, and therefore do not
share the same rights. In the context of this debate, a dispute concerning the existence of zoos and
how animals are treated in them has also arisen. Some people are asking if zoos are helping or
hurting animals. Some people are even asking if zoos should be banned. In my opinion, zoos
sometimes help animals, but sometimes they also hurt them.
I think zoos hurt animals because animals should live and flourish in their natural environments, where they
can develop their natural abilities. Otherwise, they will live frustrated for not being able to relieve themselves
from the natural energy they are born with. And that is the same as hurting them.
On the other hand, animals are sometimes sick or have lost their parents and need to be taken care of, or else
they could easily die. Thus, specialized people who work at zoos and take care of them, in these cases are not
hurting them, rather they are helping them.
In conclusion, I believe that the question is not if we should ban or not ban zoos. I think an accurate
study should be conducted concerning how many animals are being hurt in zoos and how many
animals are being helped. In this manner, people would have a more precise way of seeing things
and would have more elements to be able to decide what is best for the animals.

WRITE ESSAY
You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will be
judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and control the
elements of standard written English. You should write 200-300 words.
QUESTION:
Nowadays, television is an essential part of our lives, as a medium to spread news and awareness,
and, for some, it even acts as a companion. What is your opinion about this?

WRITE ESSAY
Television has become an essential part of our lives. Several decades ago, it was conceived as an entertaining
apparatus. Then, its potential for spreading news and awareness was discovered, and it began invading
almost every home around the globe. Today, billions of people from all over the world watch television at least
a few minutes per day. Nonetheless, the fact that something is essential does not imply it is a good thing.
First of all, we must reckon that television has become an essential part of our lives. Billions of people rely on it
in order to receive information that they believe is necessary to lead a well-informed life. Other people depend
on educational programs available on television to keep educating themselves or their children. Also, it helps
some people lead a healthy mental life, since it keeps their minds distracted from a great number of problems.
However, in my opinion, the fact that television has become an essential part of life is something that should
alarm us, since this means that people might not be aware of the personal interests of the people and
companies that run television channels.
Most news programs, for example, sometimes portray political events in a way that matches the ideology of the
owners of the television company that broadcasts such programs. In other cases, the owners' moral standards
moulds the information delivered to the audience.
Therefore, parents around the world should become aware of how the business and personal interests of
television channel owners shape the information provided, so that their children also become aware and make
more informed decisions regarding what source of information they will prefer to trust in; because, the fact is
that, even though it's not necessarily a good thing, it is essential for billions of people.
QUESTION:
Team sports are generally promoted as a great way to keep fit and build character. However, sporting
events such as soccer matches are often accompanied by violence between rival supporters and
other forms of antisocial behaviour. If sporting events cause antisocial behaviour, can team sports
really be good for us?
WRITE ESSAY
The reputation of some team sports has been corroded by unfortunate events caused by fans, reason
why some people are now asking themselves if team sports can really be good for us. The world of
soccer, for instance, to which many people look up to and turn to in order to keep fit, build their
character, and have fun, has been tainted by the violent and antisocial behaviour of some fans.
I believe that the violent acts carried out by these fans have nothing to do with the fact of team sports being
good for us or not, at least when it comes to people who practice these sports to keep fit and for leisure. The
fact that the antisocial and violent behaviour involved in many soccer matches affects many people, does not
imply we should automatically think that the question “Can team sports really be good for us?” entails a
meaning for everybody.
Most soccer players, for example, will argue that such a question is pointless, since it is a generally accepted
fact that team sports are good for us, since they help people stay healthy and build up their character,
regardless of the negative aspects that may surround sporting events. On the other hand, some people might
argue that it's a matter of the well-being of third parties. For instance, they might ask, are team sports good for
us if antisocial fans end up fighting in the streets of our neighbourhoods, damaging other people?
To sum up, the real issue is not if team sports are good for us or not, rather how we should act in order to
make the authorities involved in organizing team sports events solve the delicate problem of violent behavior,
without affecting people who seek a better way of life through sports.

QUESTION:
Do you think consumers should avoid over packaged products, or is it the responsibility of producers?
WRITE ESSAY
The issue of over packaged products has become increasingly important during the last few decades, due to
the damage that plastic is causing to the environment. This has raised the following question: should we blame
the producers or the consumers? In my opinion, the producers should be held responsible. I believe the
producers should be held responsible for the damages for two reasons: first of all, because they are the ones
producing materials that cause the whole problem in the first place; and secondly, because they knowingly risk
the well-being of the environment in the name of their companies' profits. Furthermore, most consumers,
besides ignoring the real threats that plastic waste causes to the environment, sometimes have no option
regarding the products that they buy. Many big companies that produce thousands of tons of over packaged
goods a year, e.g. junk food producers, know that their goods are totally unnecessary. However, they keep on
bringing their merchandise out to the market in order to make profits. Also, they are very aware of the damage
that their products can cause to the environment, since they employ specialized professionals such as
chemists, who are responsible for reporting to the top executives of the company. Also, most consumers have
no idea about the deleterious components that plastic packings contain. Moreover, it's debatable if they should
have the responsibility of being aware of such matters, since companies sell them the idea that the products
they offer are all good. In addition, many people in developing countries, for example, have no other option
than to buy cheap over packaged junk food. In conclusion, besides the producers, I think governments should
also be held responsible for the damage caused, because they should make sure that these companies that
they give permits to deliver eco-friendly products.

QUESTION :
Many people think that successful people's accomplishments depend on the regions they come from,
while other people think that it doesn't matter where a person comes from, if that person has the will
to succeed, he/she will triumph. What do you think?.
WRITE ESSAY
OPINTOTT, the environment ITOTT WITTCIT A person comes ITOTT TOT only determines the person's possibilities to succeed, but
also shapes the person's will to strive.
I believe that successful people cannot simply decide to accomplish certain goals without their actions being
influenced by their native region's background-which includes family, friends, schools, political and social
environment, etc.-, since the decisions every person makes depend on a specific mentality, and every
mentality is shaped by a person's regional background. Thus, even if a person who seemed to be apathetic
suddenly decides to thrive to become wealthy, for example, we cannot say that this is due to a sudden
“willingness” that the person decided to apply in his/her life.
Many famous prosperous people, for instance, give speeches on how they don't regard themselves as being
gifted or lucky. They sometimes say that all they did to succeed was resolve to do so. However, these
characters don't seem to realize that, for example, sometimes there are people in poor countries who have the
same talents and determination as them but simply can't reach their goals due to social and economic factors.
On the other hand, the places where people grow up in also influence the way they define “success”, i.e. a
person from the country might not need to acquire material possessions in order to consider he/she has
succeeded.
In conclusion, the regions where people come from do determine a person's chances to succeed.
Furthermore, their native environments even shape their willingness to achieve certain goals.

QUESTION:
Some people believe that confidence wins bigger games that knowledge alone cannot. Also, that
accumulating knowledge makes no sense until one has the confidence to put it to use.
Is it true that knowledge will help one win a struggle only if it is put into practice with full
confidence, or is it confidence without knowledge that is null and void?
WRITE ESSAY
When it comes to achieving anything in life, the combination of knowledge and confidence has always helped
people boost their potential. Both elements are critical factors in the creation of a pathway to success,
regardless of one's goals. However, if they are applied separately, both confidence and knowledge are as
useless as decaffeinated coffee.
Confidence is the perception that we have of ourselves as knowing what we are good at and the value we
provide. It is this perception that has a tremendous effect on the way others perceive us. Without confidence,
no person can thrive or accomplish anything in life, since most people will not believe in the reliability of people
that they perceive as insecure. On the other hand, knowledge - the state of knowing facts, principles, or having
skills -, which can be achieved through education and experience, is as important as confidence regarding
one's chances to succeed in life, because even if people perceive one as being very confident, if they become
aware of one's ignorance concerning something important, they might end up thinking one is simply arrogant.
For instance, imagine you are a company that has spent a great amount of time and resources in creating a
useful product. Will the consumers trust your product if there are thousands of other similar products in the
market? They will not do so unless they perceive your company feels confident with respect to its product. But,
also, if you invest in something you do not understand, you will never be able to let your customers know about
its features or benefits, and you will end up losing their trust by misleading them.
Therefore, in my opinion, one should maintain a perfect balance between confidence and knowledge in order
to come a long way in life.
QUESTION :
Some people prefer to be nocturnal during exam days and go through the entire syllabus in
the last few days, whereas others have regular habits, studying a little every day.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both studying patterns and choose which one
is a better way of action according to you.
WRITE ESSAY
There are many studying habits. During exam periods, some people prefer to wait until the last days to study
entire syllabuses, especially during the nights. On the other hand, other students rather start studying much
before their exams, at least a little every day. To my mind, it is much better to start studying beforehand, at
least a little every day, during the daytime or at night-time.
One reason I believe it is better to study beforehand, and not wait until the last minute, is that one has more
opportunities to clear out any doubts that may appear - be it with teachers or classmates -, especially if one
chooses to study during the daytime. Also, when one starts to study in anticipation of coming exams, one has
more time to assimilate information, and, thus, more chances of succeeding in exams. In contrast, if one starts
to study for an exam only a few days before, and during the nights, one has lesser opportunities to clear out
doubts. Furthermore, sometimes, studying at night is not as successful as studying during the daytime,
because students are more tired and might not grasp everything correctly.
Let's say, for instance, someone has to present a language exam. If the person waits until the night before the
exam to go through pronunciation topics and he/she bumps into a set of words he/she doesn't know how to
pronounce, and has no source to get help from in order to clear out the doubts, that person will be in trouble.
Moreover, even if the person figured out a way to pronounce such set of terms, he/she would have a limited
time to absorb the skills to do so correctly.
In conclusion, studying at least a little every day beforehand has more advantages than doing the contrary.

QUESTION:
Some people prefer to listen to music while studying, as music has a calming effect on the mind.
Others prefer a pin drop silence in order to concentrate on the content they are studying and have an
undivided attention while they do so.
Which option works better for you and why do you think the other option is not viable to ensure a
successful study time?
WRITE ESSAY
It has become a trend for some people to listen to music as they study, because they believe this activity calms
the mind, which would in turn help the brain grasp more information. Other people, on the contrary, believe it is
much better to study in a completely quiet environment, since they opine that music only distracts the mind
from the information they are trying to absorb. I am convinced that the latter option is more suitable in regard to
obtaining successful results.
Some years ago, it became trendy amongst certain type of psychologists to say that listening to classical music
– such as that of Mozart – enhanced a person's studying skills. I think one of the reasons for this opinion is that
some people think that listening to music doesn't require any special attention. However, there are cases in
which people say that regardless of the music they listen to, if they do so as they study, they are unable to
grasp the same amount of information as when they study in a completely quiet surrounding. In my opinion,
this happens because listening to music and reading are two very different activities that the brain must focus
on independently, in order to carry them out correctly.
If a person really likes listening to music but also enjoys paying special attention to what they read, then, that
person's mind will constantly be shifting its focus from one thing to the other if trying to do both things at the
same time, and, thus, will not be able to carry out any of the two activities successfully.
To sum up, I believe both activities should be carried out separately, in a silent environment – avoiding other
noises, in the case of music - if they are to be taken seriously.
QUESTION :
“Normal” societal roles for women include taking care of the children in the household. But now that
women contribute equally in outdoor responsibilities, it would be a little unfair to expect the same
amount of dedication towards the upbringing of the children.
Is it okay for men to participate and share the responsibilities of the house and make their presence
be felt more in their children's life, or should the mothers be solely responsible?
WRITE ESSAY
Traditional sectors of various societies have always been against the modern roles that women now have in
several aspects of life. The increasing integration of women into the economic market is basically unstoppable.
Due to these new roles, men have had to get more involved in household activities which include being more
present in their children's lives. However, even if women weren't assuming new roles in society, I believe it is
good for men to participate more in household activities, especially in their children's upbringing.
It is definitely good for men to share the responsibilities of the house and play a key role in their children's
upbringing, because a house is the common place in which the whole family shares experiences, and children
need to know that they can count on both parents in order to deal with everyday matters. Moreover, children
who see both parents sharing household activities, and that the mother also leaves the house to work are less
prone to think that all activities are gender-specific.
For instance, children who have grown up in houses where both parents have jobs, but in which both parents
also help around the house and take care of them, statistically develop more social skills, since they become
aware of the gender-neutral nature of most activities and jobs.
Hence, both men and women must participate and share the responsibilities of the house, and be
part of their children's life, in order to raise socially intelligent individuals.

QUESTION:
What is your opinion about top executives at companies getting their employees involved in
the decision-making process?

WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
The participation of employees in companies' decision-making processes has been a matter of
debate for the last decades. Some people agree with employees having an active role in the decision-
making process of a company, while others believe this can lead to undesired consequences. From
my point of view, employees shouldn't be allowed to intervene in these matters as much as the
owners or shareholders.
In the first case, it is argued that employees' participation in the decision-making of a company motivates them,
because it makes them feel they are important for the organization they work for; thus, it is argued that many
small organizations have achieved successful results with this strategy. Furthermore, it is held that employees'
participation creates a positive working environment which ultimately leads to a company having higher
productivity.
On the other hand, those who argue against employees' active participation in companies' decision-making
processes argue that this situation, although it can lead to a healthy working atmosphere, and bear higher
productivity, can also pose dangers to a company, in the sense that there are certain confidential issues which
shouldn't be discussed with employees, because the company would run the risk of employees leaking
important information to the company's competitors.
For example, in the 1990s, Opel, a German car manufacturer, filed a claim against Volkswagen, because
some of its top employees left the company to go work for the latter, and Opel was afraid this could mean they
had actually been working as industrial spies.

QUESTION:
Fast food has become a part of our society. What is the impact of fast food on human life?
WRITE ESSAY
The problem of the consumption of junk food is extremely important nowadays. Analyzing the
contemporary attitudes towards consumption of fast food, one may admit that people are obsessed
with this kind of food.
It is absolutely true that any kind of food has to bring satisfaction and pleasure. Nevertheless, fast
food brings it in enormous amounts. That is to say that people can endlessly buy junk food since they
want to fill their stomachs and get the satisfaction from such food. On the one hand, it is good.
Everyone has the right to eat whatever they like. On the other hand, the excessive consumption of
fast food leads to serious problems.
The first and most dangerous problem is obesity. Fast food destroys the physical and mental health
of individuals. The reason is obvious - the excessive weight causes heart problems. The results can
be fatal. Speaking about mental health, one may admit that extra weight destroys an individual's
personal life because there is a loss of physical attractiveness. Moreover, overweight people worry
about the attitude of society towards them. They realize that other members of the community could
laugh at them because of their extra weight. All of this is a direct consequence to the excessive
consumption of fast food.
Personally I believe that fast food has a negative impact on our health. The constituent parts of fast food are
dangerous for health. They make people fat and unhealthy. The only positive fact that fast food can bring is
satisfaction. Nevertheless, it quickly disappears.
To sum up, being the most popular type of food, fast food causes negative effects on human health. It
helps individuals to put on extra weight and makes their health poor. That is why it is important to
avoid eating fast food.
QUESTION:
In today's era, TV has become very important part of life as a medium to spread intelligence and
social awareness. Do you think it could have other side as well?
WRITE ESSAY
Before television was invented, public awareness through visual communication was pretty limited.
The technology revolution in a past few decades has been unprecedented and television is no
exception. The era that began with valves and CRTs in TVs has reached to a slim, 3D curved body
giving a realistic experience through its mind-blowing surround sound and ultra-high-density
resolution. What makes the TVs more powerful is hundreds of satellite channels from all genres
offering us great entertainment and news 24/7.
While it used to take days for any news to reach to public, with television and super-fast satellite
channels it reaches us just in time. Because of TV's capability to show things 'live', information aired
on a television can go to all the people sitting in any corner of the world watching it. Adding icing to
the cake is the smart TV that can connect itself to Wi-Fi or the Internet. The Internet can augment
TV's performance in providing quality pictures, videos, and graphics of any kind. The smart set-top
boxes from various vendors offer customized education programs for children making it ‘infotainment
which is information plus entertainment.
However, with many pros come cons. If televisions can spread news and awareness, it can be a dangerous
tool to spread negativity or rumors. The satellite news channels, in a race, to increase their TRPs, run news
with exaggeration that provokes communities or people. This may result in violence and hatred. Kids indulge in
watching cartoons and other programs ignoring their studies. High-resolution TVs come with high radiation
affecting eyes.
In my humble opinion, TV can be a great source of information and entertainment, but then its use
should be limited and smart.
QUESTION:
What is your opinion on whether the consumer should avoid over packed product or is this the
responsibility of the manufacturer to avoid extra packaging of product? Share your light on this topic?
WRITE ESSAY
Over packaging of products, today is the rage. The sole reason for this is to stay ahead in the
competitive market by alluring people through the aesthetic approach while least bothering about the
costs and harm to the environment. As consumers have a fewer or no choice, I believe that it should
be manufacturers' responsibility to avoid unnecessary packaging of products.
Adding extra packaging with eye-catching graphics may grab consumers' eyeballs but then the cost
of such over packaging is simply put in the price of the product. In certain cases, the packaging of the
product is equal if not more than the product itself. The packaging of the medicines in the forms of
pills and tablets are sufficient examples of unnecessary packaging. If such products are not overly
packed, the price can go down, and poor can probably afford the product.
Over packaging of products also takes its toll on the environment. In many products, the material
used is generally not recyclable. Thus, discarding the package after the product is being taken out or
used is difficult. Foods and drinks packed with unnecessary wraps and glittering covers use the
material that is not eco-friendly. Snacks are consumed in an abundant quantity worldwide and most of
such food items come in plastic bags or wrappers that are not 100% recyclable; burning such
packaging material would release some poisonous gas and if thrown in oceans and rivers, it will
contaminate water.
The government should poke their nose into the matter of over packaging of products if
manufacturers are not in the mood to take responsibilities. On the other hand, consumers should also
show their preference on the quality of the product and not package.
QUESTION :
Around the world, solar energy is becoming a more popular source of energy for many
households. Why do you think this is so? What are the advantages and disadvantages of
using solar energy to power one's home?
WRITE ESSAY
The Lifestyle has undergone many dramatic changes over a few decades. Presently, solar energy is
being used in household and getting its ground in some countries as it is known as the third
renewable energy after hydro and wind. Here, I would like to account for the advantages and
disadvantages of solar energy.
There are multifarious points to shore up advantages of solar energy. Firstly, solar energy helps in
controlling global warming, for example, wide use of petrol and oil in vehicles and factories create
massive pollution whereas solar energy is totally pollution free. Hence, it is environment-friendly.
Besides, solar energy reduces the electricity bill as we generate power from the sun.
Secondly, there cannot be a monopoly on solar energy. For instance, the sun provides its energy
equally to the whole world as a result, and every individual can occupy its energy according to their
needs. Therefore, it is a secure resource of energy for every person. Apart from this, solar energy
creates more jobs for unemployed people. They can start manufacturing solar lights, heater, and so
on. Nevertheless, there are some disadvantages of solar energy as well.
Numerous point can be mentioned to criticize the solar energy, the biggest being unavailability of
sunlight round the clock. Consequently, overcasting also reduce the chances of energy generation
during the winter days. Also, the storage is also a big concern as it is difficult to store a large amount
of energy for a long time. Consequently, it appears costlier to deploy solar energy system for a
common man.
To recapitulate, solar energy helps to conserve other sources of energy and makes it surplus.
Government should encourage such type of technology to uplift the living standard as well as to save
the environment from global warming.
QUESTION:
Cars come in all different shapes and sizes. Some prefer a large one, while others a compact one.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each type and which would you prefer?
WRITE ESSAY
When it comes to buying a car, people should consider which type of vehicle is suitable for them. The size of a
car is an important factor. I personally prefer smaller sized cars because it consumes less fuel, is more
economical, and is rather appropriate for urban areas.
Since smaller cars are lighter than large ones, their engine needs to produce a lesser amount of force.
Consequently, their fuel usage is moderate compared to heavier vehicles. The lesser the amount of fossil fuel
consumed, the lesser the amount of greenhouse gas is released into the atmosphere. In addition, green cars
do not emit noxious exhaust gasses and are produced in order to minimize their energy consumption. This
makes small cars even more favorable, specifically to people who are environmentally-conscious.
Furthermore, considering the expense of filling up a gas tank, lower needs for fossil fuel in small cars lead to
relatively lower expenditure. The amount of money saved up in this way can be spent on, for example, going
on a trip or renting a good apartment. Finally, a small car is very convenient for urban areas because it takes
less space. Finding parking is very easy when the full length of a car is less than two meters. Parking a large
car in a fully packed parking area is a nightmare. Moreover, city traffic is often heavy, especially during rush
hours. A small-sized car will manage better to squeeze its way out of a traffic jam.
In summary, car manufacturing should respond to the needs of all potential customers. However, for urban
dwellers, like me, the best choice of automobile is the one with an economical engine which can easily
maneuver in crowded streets.
QUESTION :
The world is becoming a smaller place because of globalization. Some people dread
that culture will inevitably disappear as a result. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?
WRITE ESSAY
Some people agree with the idea that globalization would deprive local communities of cultural distinctiveness.
Others disagree. For the following reasons, I believe that this notion may be misunderstood. First, it may be an
opportunity to reevaluate one's own culture; second, culture may be further developed by practices from other
cultures.
To begin with, whereas globalization makes people similar on the surface, a trend in rediscovering one's own
local culture has been surging. Homogeneity, that some people fear, is no more than one aspect of
globalization. In order to see this point clearly, let us use an example. Japanese sake which is a traditional
alcoholic beverage has been drunk by choice by young people since the beginning of the 21st century. As
such, sales of sake have soared in recent years. This example shows that traditional culture is being embraced
by young people even in the globalized world.
In addition, various cultures around the world may be incorporated into one's own culture. In fact, we can
observe this easily in modern society. Let us take Japanese sake again as an example. The technique in
making Japanese sake has not changed since ancient times. With the introduction of sommeliers from the
French, who judge everything from the taste to the smell of alcohol, the quality of Japanese sake has improved
dramatically. This example reveals that the emergence of practices from other cultures can improve one's own
culture.
As mentioned above, I do not agree that globalization takes away cultural originality. This is
because it would be a chance to reevaluate one's traditional culture, and it is an opportunity to
develop one's own culture as well.
QUESTION:
Some people believe the large shopping malls are replacing local shops which is bad for local
economies. What is your opinion?
WRITE ESSAY
Nowadays, large shopping malls are being set in small towns at high rates. Some people believe this boosts
local economies, whereas other people think that these large shopping malls replace local shops, which affects
small businesses and the people who depend on them to earn a living.
From my point of view, large shopping malls affect local economies in a negative way. First of all, because a lot
of consumers are easily seduced by the attractions that shopping malls offer, which makes them stop buying at
small local shops. Secondly, because large shopping malls mostly sell goods they import from other places,
instead of buying from local producers. Lastly, because sometimes large shopping malls offer employees more
benefits than small local shops, which sometimes makes the owners of the latter have to invest more in order
to not lose quality staff.
On the other hand, large shopping malls do have the capability to offer more jobs to the places where they
arrive. In addition, they also have the means to offer more benefits to their employees. Moreover, they can
afford to sometimes sell the same products available at local shops at cheaper prices.
For instance, when big corporations such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are introduced in third-world countries, they
provide large amounts of job opportunities that didn't exist before. And, according to statistics, they do offer
better prices in many cases. However, local shops also provide many job opportunities to local residents, and,
furthermore, they purchase their goods mostly from local producers whose livelihoods and those of their
families depend on.
To summarize, I believe that in the long term it is better to keep large shopping malls out of small
local communities,

QUESTION:
Some people only have pets to not feel lonely, for example, but they don't always take proper care of
them. Do you think people who don't always take proper care of their pets should be allowed to keep
them?
WRITE ESSAY
There are various reasons why people choose to have pets: sometimes it is because they find certain animals
really nice and just wish to have them; sometimes it is because they want to rescue abandoned or abused
animals; and sometimes it is because they simply don't want to feel lonely, among much more. I believe that in
any case, if pets are not taken care of properly, their “owners” should not be allowed to have them.
First of all, I think that not taking proper care of a pet is equivalent to mistreating it, which is cruel. For
example, people who decide to become owners of baby dogs that they know will grow up to be huge,
like Great Danishes, should be required to live in a place which includes large open spaces where the
dog will be able to run freely once it has grown up. Otherwise, it will grow up unhappy, without having
been able to develop its physical potentials.
On the other hand, unfortunately, there are many ill people in the world who cannot lead a normal life. For
instance, people who are paralyzed might find a great deal of comfort in having a pet around them, since other
people cannot always provide the affection they need even if they are always near them. I believe this reason
for having a pet represents a good cause. Nevertheless, when one looks at the big picture, one realizes that in
a way, this would actually imply also paralyzing the animal, since what kind of care can a paralyzed person
provide to an animal who needs to do plenty exercise in order to stay healthy?
To sum up, from my point of view, any person who cannot take proper care of a pet should not be
allowed to.
QUESTION :
Should the authorities from big cities around the world discourage citizens from using private cars and
rather encourage them to use other means of transport such as bicycles, skates, the subway, etc.?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Currently, many distinct groups of people within society are discussing about the damages that CO2
emissions are causing to Earth's environment. The discussions sometimes focus on trying to
determine if governments should be in charge of encouraging their citizens to use alternative means
of transportation other than private cars, in order to reduce these emissions, since private cars are
responsible for a great percentage of these contaminants around the globe. In my opinion, taxpayers
should demand that their governments implement special programmes to discourage people from
using private cars. Most importantly, because having a private car is not a right, it's a luxury.
Furthermore, it's a luxury that indirectly damages other people by polluting the environment they need
to survive. Let's say, for instance, that a married couple which has two or three children decides to not
own a car because they believe in public transport -- even if it does not offer the best services --, and
because they are aware of CO2 issues: wouldn't it be unfair for people who are not married nor have
children to use a single car for themselves, knowing how car emissions harm everybody's
atmosphere? I believe it would be unfair. To sum up, it is not only an obligation for governmental
authorities to be aware of environmental issues, but it is also their duty to at least try and solve them.
In this case, they should make sure more people use public transport in order to reduce CO2
emissions.
QUESTION :
Some democrats claim that people who do not take part in voting processes do not have the right to complaint
about the situation their communities are in. What is your position regarding this opinion?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
It is common for some people who believe in democracy to try to persuade others to vote for a
specific party during election times. Sometimes, they even resort to warning people who say they do
not vote that they will not have the right to complain if the candidate that wins does not satisfy the
community. I personally disagree with this point of view.
From my perspective, a person has all the right to complain about what they consider is not going well in their
community regardless of their voting history. Sometimes, people decide not to vote because they consider all
the available options are of very low quality; or, what's more, sometimes they decide not to vote because they
do not believe in the legitimacy of “democratic” processes.
For example, if a person decides not to participate in a presidential election process because they believe all
the candidates are equally corrupt, it would be totally unjust to say that this person will not have the right to
complain if the winner ends up stealing millions of dollars from the nation.
In conclusion, in my opinion, any person has the right to complain concerning any unjust situation
which affects their community, even if they have never participated in a democratic process, because,
regardless of this, if the person belongs to the community, they will be affected by the same
circumstances as the rest of the members.

QUESTION:
Most alcoholics purchase liquor legally. According to your point of view, should stores in general be
legally allowed to sell liquor to alcoholics?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Most people believe that alcoholics have lost control over their minds, and, therefore, lack the power to stop
drinking even if this habit is killing them. I agree with this belief. Thus, in my opinion, stores and other providers
should not be legally allowed to sell liquor to alcoholics. First of all, it has been proven by science that
alcoholism is not a matter of people not having the will to stop drinking, rather it has been classified as a
disease. Thus, people who suffer this ailment cannot control it, the same way a person diagnosed with cancer
cannot solve this terrible issue with pure will. So, if we accept this fact as being true, we can say that a person
who provides alcohol to an alcoholic is basically contributing to this sick individual's disease to worsen, which
should be prohibited. Furthermore, people who suffer from alcoholism, since they have lost control over their
minds, do not actually know what they are doing anymore. However, the people who sell alcohol to these
people, most of the times are very aware of what the situation is, but do not wish to sacrifice their business in
order to help these people not drink. This is equal to knowingly contribute to a sick person's disease to worsen,
which is equal to committing a crime. Therefore, stores should not be allowed to sell liquor to alcoholics.
Moreover, in my opinion, stores which do so should be held legally responsible for committing a crime.
QUESTION:
What do you think about our environment considering the fact that there has been steady
increase in pollution and affects like global warming are increasing as time is passing by? Are
we under jeopardy? Is the humanity safe?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Global warming is the phenomenon due to which the average temperature of the earth's surface rises. This is
indeed a grave issue which demands our utmost attention. Due to increase pollution levels and rapid
industrialization with little or no concern for environmental issues is contributing to the global warming scenario.
To get into the roots of this issue, we need to know how and why global warming occurs. At the most basic
level, we are able to live on planet earth due to the fact that it provides us with enough amount of warmth and a
balance in terms of weather conditions. In order to keep our surface warm, earth absorbs a part of sun's
radiation and distributes it so as to keep the temperature up and normal. There are a set of gases known as
Chlorofluorocarbons which are also known as CFC's. These gases are emitted by many day to day appliances
we use. The air conditioner or the refrigerator is few day to day appliances which emit CFC's. Along with
CFC's, there are other gases like NO (Nitrous Oxide) and CO (Carbon Monoxide) and Carbon Dioxide. As we
have formerly discussed that earth traps sun radiation in itself, chemicals like the ones listed now play an
important role. As a matter of fact, due to the increase in those chemicals, the surface of earth is absorbing
and retaining more heat than what is required. Calamities like drought, excess snowfall, floods, abnormally
high rate of rainfalls, and change in precipitation levels and raise in ocean levels are few of the consequences
of global warming.

QUESTION :
The World is becoming a forest of the building. It is becoming difficult to find trees
everywhere. What is the main reason for the global warming? Can you suggest ways, to
eradicate global warming?
WRITE ESSAY
Global warming, one of the main reasons for this is deforestation. Deforestation is the act of cutting trees. Year
by year the temperature is increasing, one of the main reasons for that is deforestation. We use trees for many
things like a house, furniture, paper, and fire etc. trees give us many things. Living in a place with only
buildings and no trees would be difficult. People have fought in saving trees many times. Have you heard
about the Chipko movement? In the Chipko movement, which took place in Uttarakhand in 1973, people
hugged trees to prevent other people from cutting them. A courageous act indeed! We can also do trivial things
to save trees. Deforestation is harmful to us, and in turn for man. A planet with no trees would mean a planet
with no life. Forests are the habitat of many plants and animals on which the circle of life depends. The man is
also directly dependent on forests for many things, for example, medicinal herbs, fruits, seeds, wood, gum,
resin and even rains. If forests are destroyed, what is man's chance of survival? Hence, afforestation, or the
planting of trees, is the way to go. Plant as many trees as you can and make this earth a greener place.
QUESTION:
Are all the jobs equal? Are skilled and unskilled employees treated equally? Have you heard
of manual scavengers? Write about the problems faced by unskilled employees. What do you
suggest to people to stop doing discrimination?
WRITE ESSAY
Manual scavengers are people who remove and dispose of animal and human excreta. Very often, people who
are involved in this kind of work are discriminated against and are ill-treated by society in general. Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar and Bezwada Wilson brought to light the miserable state of manual scavengers. Many
organizations are fighting for the eradication of manual scavenging and the rehabilitation of manual
scavengers.
Now, efforts are being made to introduce a bill to put an end to the undignified practice of manual
scavenging and to rehabilitate manual scavengers.
There are some jobs that require people to work in dangerous conditions. For example, miners have to go
deep under the ground to mine coal and other minerals. They work in hazardous conditions—there are
possibilities of the mine collapsing and sometimes this proves to be fatal; there are also toxic gasses
underground that affect humans. Miners suffer from many occupational diseases like silicosis. Silicosis is a
respiratory disease caused by inhaling silica. It can cause a severe cough, shortness of breath and weight
loss. Sadly, miners are usually paid a measly wage. Some jobs involve a lot of manual, unskilled work, and
some involve skilled labor and very little manual work. Some jobs are well paid, while others are not. The most
important thing to learn here is that all jobs are equally important. We must never belittle any kind of work or
discriminate against any job or group of people performing a job. Great leaders like Gandhiji and others have
emphasized the dignity of labor.
QUESTION :
Some people believe that building unattractive houses should be prohibited because they are
exposed to the public. What is your opinion about this?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
In my opinion regulations concerning the construction of unattractive houses should definitely exist,
especially because houses are something that are exposed to the public, which implies that they
exert an effect on people's senses. I believe that people sometimes underestimate the effect that
buildings -- amongst hundreds of other things -- have on our daily lives, especially concerning our
sense of sight. Humans are very visual beings, in the sense that we are always aware of what we are
seeing: be it for safety purposes or merely because we cannot avoid it. Our hearing, on the other
hand, is different, in the sense that we can easily get by not paying attention to most of the sounds
that reach our ears. Be it as it may, the fact is that, since we are so visual, our surroundings have a
strong effect on us. For instance, if I had a neighbour who lived across the street and decided not
only to add a new floor to his house but to also paint it completely black, I would be upset: if my
bedroom window were right in front of that new floor, I would feel that my mornings have been ruined,
because black is a very dark colour which I would not want to be the first thing I see in the mornings
when I open my curtains. Moreover, some specialists have held that colours can influence our
emotions, and, thus, our moods. Personally, I love to see bright colours in the morning, like the colour
of the sky as the sun goes up. In conclusion, I believe that it should be prohibited to build unattractive
houses, because our sight is a sense which absorbs much data everyday, and it might not be healthy
to be exposed to unattractive things every day.
QUESTION:
In recent years, obesity rates around the world have increased dramatically. Do you agree with the
idea that parents who let their children become obese should be criminally charged and punished?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Recent statistics show that obesity rates around the world have increased dramatically. Moreover,
analysts claim that the amount of obese children has never been so large. I agree with the idea that
parents who let their children become obese should be criminally charged and punished.
First of all, I think we have to make it clear that obesity is not only a matter of health, but also of economy. The
dreadful health conditions that arise as a result of obesity – such as diabetes – are known to most people even
if they do not have a high level of education. However, the economic consequences of obesity are not so well
known. These consequences include governments having to raise the taxes set aside for health care in order
to confront the increase in the number of people suffering from health conditions related to obesity such as
diabetes, heart disease, etc.
In some countries, for instance, it is unlikely that an average citizen is not aware of the factors which
can lead to obesity, such as consuming soft-drinks, junk food, high-fat foods, etc., or not exercising
enough, since the authorities have carried out wide awareness programs in order to protect their
populations from becoming ill. However, in these same countries, the number of people who are
dying each year due to conditions related to obesity have been increasing.
Therefore, parents who let their children become obese should be criminally charged and punished, since the
causes and consequences of obesity are basically common knowledge nowadays. This situation, in my
opinion, constitutes a form of manslaughter, particularly because children are innocent of not being aware of
most of their behaviours. However, due to their insufficient education, I do not believe parents should be
blamed for the economic consequences of obesity.
QUESTION :
What are your views on extraterrestrial life forms? Do you think aliens really exist?
WRITE ESSAY
I personally feel that the existence of extra-terrestrial life forms is a possible scenario and might
actually be true. With the recent studies and research in the arena of space and astronomy, there are
few studies which indicate the presence of life forms apart from human beings in the outer space. In
this vast universe where so much is left to be discovered, assuming we're the only species that can
possibly exist is an overstatement. We can never be sure of the secrets that the universe holds. We
might be one among the many species that might exist in our galaxy. As of now, we do not have the
scientific prowess to communicate with many parts of the space and not many planets in our solar
system have been explored as well. Ergo, there are high chances of extraterrestrial life. A scientist
called Drake has come up with an equation called Drake equation which predicts the number of extra-
terrestrial life forms in the Milky Way galaxy. Despite all the scientific predictions and probabilities,
there hasn't been any concrete scientific proof for the existence of extraterrestrial life forms. The
collective search for extraterrestrial life forms is known as SETI – Search for Extra-terrestrial
Intelligence. Amidst all the scientific work and research, we are not far from discovering
extraterrestrial life forms.
QUESTION:
What are your views on the tipping system in countries like the USA? Is it necessary to tip the
staff?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
There was a distant relative of ours who lived in Forks, nearby Washington. Every Sunday, he was a regular at
a steakhouse called 'Deli.' A few weeks after his regular visit on every Sunday, the staff started taking notice of
him and started giving him really good service as well as special treatment. I asked him what made them treat
him especially! He replied that he tipped them well. He said that he made sure he tipped between 10-15% of
the total bill amount. That anecdote that I heard from him years ago still resonates in my mind. In our country,
where tipping is not a very mandatory act and we do not care to tip based on the percentage of our final
amount, a system like that was surely bizarre and astonishing to me. After few years, I then realized that why
people tip mandatorily in places and countries like such. As a matter of fact, the amount of salaries that are
paid to the staff is quite less when compared to what is to be given because the owners and restaurateurs feel
that the staff make a good income from tips alone. The fact whether such a practice should be encouraged or
not is secondary, however, we are now compelled to pay them a tip not out of brute force, but out of pity and
consideration. In the inception of this system, people might've tipped their waiters and chefs. That might've
slowly become a customary practice at the end of a meal at any restaurant now. Nevertheless, there will never
be any problem in tipping as long as the service is good too.
QUESTION:

E-Books or Print Books, which one is your preference? Why do you prefer
either of them above the both?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Ever since mankind started sharing and imparting knowledge, the most commonly used medium was books.
Similarly, book reading has also been a revered and a popularly followed culture and habit among the people.
In the present digital age, book reading has increased its popularity by adopting with time and digitalizing in the
form of e-books as well.
As a matter of fact, e-books are a mere advancement in the field of books and literature. When there was no
digital format existing, print media was wildly popular and prevalent. People usually preferred printed books as
it was their only resort to learning and reading books. But with the need to be portable and easily accessed,
books are now being published in the form of e-books. Devices and applications like Kindle have also become
a major success indicating the trend of digitalization in the arena of books.
I myself own a Kindle reader and enjoy reading several books on it. With features like dictionary, note making
system and easy highlighting options, e-books have become my preference for reading nonfiction books. But
also, like many ardent book lovers, I love holding a physical copy in my hand and devouring it. Nevertheless,
updating with the current trend and adopting is equally important to me. Therefore, so as to balance my urge to
read in the old fashion way and current fashion, I use both an e-book reader and physical books as well.
To sum it up, I think I prefer both the e-books and print books; e-books for their ease of use and
portability and print books for satisfying the book lover in me. At the end of it all, the sole purpose is to
gain knowledge and derive pleasure out of books and I'd choose whatever medium that enhances my
experience.
QUESTION :
Nowadays, it is common knowledge that plastic pollutes the environment. Thus, do you think
companies should be allowed to use plastic containers for their products? Please state what your
opinion is and why.
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Nowadays, most people who have a basic level of education know that plastic can pollute the
environment. Thus, some people believe that companies should not be allowed to use plastic
containers for their products. I agree with companies at least being fined if they exceed a certain limit
regarding plastic production. It is a proven fact that plastic products pollute the environment in many
ways. One of the most shocking cases is that of hormone disruptors. Hormone disruptors are
chemicals which are released into rivers and oceans by plastic materials. These chemicals affect
many living things' hormones causing permanent damages. This is one good reason why some
people consider that companies should not be allowed to use plastic containers for their products.
However, I believe that companies cannot simply stop producing these kinds of products, as the lives
of millions of people depend on the mass production of plastic, regardless of the negative long-term
effects this material has on the environment. For instance, if a popular soda company suddenly had
to stop using plastic containers for its product, thousands of people involved in the process of
manufacturing plastic would lose their jobs. On the other hand, I do believe that companies that
heavily rely on plastic should be warned about the damages this material causes to the environment.
Furthermore, they should be fined if their production exceeds a certain limit. To sum up, the solution
does not consist in simply banning companies from producing plastic, since this would harm
hardworking people. The solution might be to gradually make sure companies that produce plastic
realize that they will eventually have to replace this material with something less harmful.
QUESTION :
Some environmentalists claim that people who drive cars do not have a right to complain about
pollution since cars also pollute. What is your opinion?
WRITE ESSAY
Some environmentalists claim that people who drive cars do not have a right to complain about pollution
because cars also pollute. From my point of view, this claim cannot be supported without displaying a certain
degree of ignorance concerning current issues such as the way in which local economies function. It is a
known fact that cars contaminate. However, in most cases, people who use cars do so out of need: to go to
work, for example. Thus, in my opinion, it is not fair to want to impede people who drive cars from participating
in the current environmental debate. It is a fact, whether we like it or not, that there is basically no country
nowadays whose economy does not rely heavily on the use of cars, and, in most instances, users have no
choice but to buy and use cars. In my hometown, for instance, thousands of families depend on their taxis –
mostly driven by the fathers – to survive. I believe that it would be ridiculous to tell these taxi drivers that they
do not have a right to complain about pollution because their vehicles also pollute, as pollution can be caused
by other factors such as industry wastage in rivers, which has nothing to do with cars. Moreover, even a
person who drives a car which pollutes can come up with good ideas regarding how to reduce CO2 emissions
by cars. To sum up, despite the fact that the cars that people drive pollute, this does not necessarily imply that
these people should not be allowed to complain about pollution, since, most of the time, these people use
automobiles out of necessity.

QUESTION:
Some developed countries have spent billions of dollars on space research. Some people consider
this to be an irresponsible attitude since millions of people on Earth are suffering from hunger. What
is your opinion
WRITE ESSAY
The 20th century witnessed the tremendous efforts carried out by developed countries in order to launch the
space exploration race. Billions of dollars were spent and continue to be spent on this in the present. Millions of
people around the globe support space research in the name of knowledge, whereas millions more believe that
there are other priorities which must be taken care of first, such as world hunger. In my opinion, spending
exorbitant amounts of money on space research while millions of people around the world are struggling to
cover their basic needs represents a moral irresponsibility. In the first place, considering that most of the
money governments invest in space research comes from taxpayers' pockets, I consider it is the obligation of
governments to first attend issues that are related to the needs of their populations. Furthermore, even though
most people who suffer from hunger are probably not taxpayers, I am certain that if taxpayers were asked to
vote in favor of allocating large sums of money for helping citizens in need or for developing space research
programmes, most of them would choose the first option. On the other hand, some space research
programmes are aimed at solving current world problems such as drinking water scarcity, since they believe to
have found evidence of water in places such as Earth's moon. However, many experts think that the issue of
drinking water scarcity on Earth is more a political matter than a real natural scarcity issue. Moreover, they
argue that most space research programmes are aimed at solving mysteries which are not urgent to most
populations, such as the existence of extraterrestrial life. Therefore, governments should listen to their most
needy ones, even if these governments belong to developed countries because they could also focus on
helping poorer nations.
QUESTION:
In some countries it is legal for citizens to carry firearms for self-defense purposes. In your opinion,
should every country in the world make it legal for their citizens to carry firearms for self-defense
purposes?
WRITE ESSAY
The high crime rates in some countries has convinced their authorities to make it legal for their citizens to carry
firearms for self-defense purposes. I think there are good reasons for being in favour as well as good reasons
for being against this. However, I believe the reasons to be against the legalization of citizens carrying firearms
are stronger. It is a fact that police forces in most countries are not completely efficient, thus crime rates never
equal zero. This circumstance does not make citizens happy, mainly because it makes them feel insecure, but
also because police forces are usually supported with taxpayers money. Nevertheless, it is also a fact that
most citizens are not properly trained to deal with violent situations, which implies that if they were allowed to
carry firearms for self-defense purposes, crime rates would possibly not only not decrease but possibly
increase. For example, nowadays, internet videos displaying citizens successfully frustrating robberies and
other types of crimes using their firearms have become popular. However, this does not mean that the
opposite has not happened or is not possible: imagine, for instance, an armed citizen not only not frustrating a
crime but sadly ending up killing an innocent person. What will happen -- in the case that carrying firearms
becomes legal -- if a citizen decides to shoot a child who is shoplifting because they are hungry? I am pretty
sure that most people would feel outrage. To sum up, even though it might seem tempting to be in favour of
the legalization of citizens carrying firearms, due to insecurity and the lack of efficiency of police forces around
the world, the fact that most citizens lack proper training and judgment when it comes to difficult situations is
enough to be against the possibility of such a law.
QUESTION:
Automation: A boon or a bane? With advances in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Automation
seems to be the next big innovation of our times. What are your views on widespread application of
automation?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Automation as mentioned, is the next big thing after the Internet. The way internet has revolutionised
our lives and the way we do things, automation also has the capability and the prowess to make a
great impact on our lives.
Automation, whether we accept it or not has slowly been seeping into our lives already; either knowingly or
unknowingly. As a matter of fact, the whole idea of technology is not only to do the sophisticated but also to
automate and do the chores and monotonous tasks of our lives. In this regard, automation has a wide scope
and multitude of problems as well as tasks to work on. The most simple and a modest example is 'home
automation.' Home automation is nothing but automation of tasks like switching your lights and other electric
appliances on and off. Many college level and school level students have been working on home automation
for their projects.
Innovation in terms of technology in the narrow sphere of advancement and knowledge might sound elusive
and therefore the next big thing to pursue. However, in the broader terms, on the world scale, it is popularly
emphasised that automation provides us with equal amount of boons and banes. The transition from human
labor to automated machines replacing the former paints a rather scary portrait to the humanity. There have
been several woes and protests regarding the amount of unemployment that automation will cause.
Regardless of the unemployment crisis, automation is a necessary evil and a boon in every way as it gives us
an opportunity to divert our energy and focus onto meaningful tasks rather than mediocre and monotonous
tasks which offer little or less mental stimulation.
QUESTION :
Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is facing today. What are the
causes of global warming and what measures can governments and individuals take to tackle
this issue?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
In recent years, we have all been exposed to dire media reports concerning the catastrophic effects of global
warming. The aim of this essay is to examine its causes and provide some solutions. To begin with, the
predominant factors resulting in the warming of the earth are the excessive emissions of CO2. These CO2
emissions come from the massive burning of fossil fuels and are a result of tropical deforestation. In terms of
potential solutions, both governments and individuals could play a part. Firstly, governments could enact
legislation to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and promote the use of alternative energy resources. For
example, governments could raise tax on conventional energy producers to compensate industries which
utilize low-carbon energy resources. In addition, governments may set a maximum carbon dioxide emission
allowance for companies, and any excess of these amounts shall be penalized. For individuals, the change of
lifestyle will have profound effects on containing global warming. Reducing the use of wooden products, paper
products, for instance, enables us to reserve tropical forests which play a vital role in mitigating the greenhouse
effect. To conclude, excessive emissions of CO2 are a leading contributor to global warming and various
measures could be taken by governments and individuals to tackle this problem effectively.
QUESTION:
Mass media including the Internet, the television, and newspaper in influences our society and
shapes our opinions and characters. What is your opinion?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Adult and children are frequently confronted with statements regarding whether mass media influences public
perception. In my view, their ability to shape everything we read, hear and watch is undeniable. Most people
have access to a computer these days, and many of us have moved to a much more digital existence. We
have gained millions of bloggers and literally billions of Web pages. The information we received can be
biased, manipulated or distorted. If our opinions are developed by reading those information, surely we are
vulnerable to such influences. Televisions, a luxury possessed by few in any given neighbourhood just a few
decades ago, are now in nearly every household. Through the television, people are able to receive a wide
variety of information, ranging from international news to the latest movies. As a result, opinions of people are
heavily swayed by the contents of the information delivered by televisions, hundreds of cable TV channels and
satellite radio stations. Also, newspapers are still readily accessible by a majority of people. In essence, they
could convey false information to readers so that people cannot make independent or neutral decisions. In
short, people's point of views and character comes from the information they have access to. Thus, mediums
that deliver information to the masses such as the Internet, televisions, and newspapers have significant
control over their opinions.
QUESTION:
Some people think law changes our behaviour. Discuss.
WRITE ESSAY
You didn't provide any answer for this question.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Law helps in smooth functioning of the nation by governing the behaviour of people. It is not going to stop
anyone dead set on murder, but it definitely diminishes the number of people who act violently. Firstly,
imposing laws can created a deterrent among would-be offenders. Damaging the historical monuments, books,
paintings, sculptures or other form of art is considered a crime and is punishable under vandalism law. If a
person is a lawabiding citizen, he or she will not violate such law. However, a person who is poorly educated
and reckless may deface public assets intentionally. Therefore, people's actions cannot be completely
changed in some cases, but their behaviours definitely can be managed by laws in general. In addition, even if
people follow laws, addictions sometimes cannot be trumped. Traffic law, which safeguards people's life, is an
example of this. Most of us follow the traffic signals out of habit, such as stopping at a red light. Yet, road
accidents have never ceased, drunk driving never seems to vanish and the death toll continues to pile up. So,
when men corrupt, laws are broken. To summarize, though laws not necessarily ensure everyone can be law-
abiding, they surely would deter any behaviours that deemed detrimental to the society as a whole
QUESTION:
Marketing strategy for big companies should be placed on offer and discounts, and in what ways this
can impact on their reputation?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Companies employ various methods and strategies to compete with each other, among which is
placing offers and discounts on their products and services. Such techniques may bring both
advantages and disadvantages to their reputation. Admittedly, discounts and offers may promote
sales. Many a time people are encouraged to purchase commodities in bulk which are not what they
need because of lucrative price offers. Such unnecessary expenditures of consumer's boost
producer's sales revenue and reduce their old stocks in special season. This leaves store room for
new arrivals which can be sold for better prices to generate additional income. Nevertheless,
sometimes these strategies invite price war causing income loss in the long run. Once price discounts
are offered by one company, the competitors may also reduce their price on similar goods to attract
consumers onto their sides. These business strategies in some cases give birth to price war, which
undermine the pro?tability for the whole industry. For example, back in 1992 in China, the air
conditioning producers Haisen cut price by 5% when they made his debut. In response to this, his
competitors lowered market price by 6% and more. Unfortunately, all air conditioner producers didn't
make a pro?t because of employing price offer and discounts unwisely. Hence, the downside of such
marketing strategy must be considered. In a nutshell, although offers and discounts increase the
sales of the products, companies also need to maneuver wittily in order to avoid price war, which
brings no good to companies.
QUESTION:
Travelling to study is discussed to be overrated; there are many brilliant scholars who study locally. Is
travel really necessary for higher achievement.
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
In recent years, there is an ongoing debate about whether travelling is an indispensable part of a quali?ed
education. It is believed that especially, in developing countries, students who travel abroad will acquire a far
greater likelihood of gaining higher achievements. Firstly, by travelling, students may access to better
academic resources. For the developing world, less quali?ed universities exist, leading to greater competitions
among high school students and insu?cient learning opportunities. If students travel to countries, such as
Australia, quali?ed teaching resources are more easily accessible due the abundant supply of educational
facilities and knowledgeable teaching staff. Thus, travelling can increase a student's chance of receiving higher
education. Furthermore, be exposed to exotic culture, promote the likelihood of achieving a rosy career
success. Whilst, they may already be brilliant scholars, travelling provides students with the tremendous
opportunities to gain further knowledge and experiences. For instance, intelligent African students often
choose to study Agriculture in Australia, so they can bring valuable farming skills to their home country.
However, travel is overrated for unmotivated students as they are likely to squander learning opportunities, yet
for the hardworking students, travelling is a doorway to career success. To conclude, for most students in
developing world, travelling for study is more bene?cial than studying in their hometown, as travel provides, the
diligent students with a wealth of educational and cultural experience, vastly increasing their likelihood of being
success.

In underdeveloped countries, tourism can be a blessing if it is properly implemented or else it is a drawback if it
is not properly managed. Both scenarios have their own advantages and disadvantages. This essay will
discuss both views with relative examples. Firstly, if country implements proper infrastructure, facilities and
other requirements of tourists then tourism sector can be one of the main sources of income for the country.
Tourism can create huge employment and also creates chances to exchange culture, values with other
countries. For instance, for many countries of Europe, tourism is one of the top most sectors for revenue.
Hence, tourism can be helpful in the economy if we have proper facilities for tourists. On the other side, if the
country does not have the proper facilities for tourism then, it can be disastrous for its citizens. The government
cannot utilize its natural resources in a better way and has to spend a huge chunk of money to protect these
natural resources. For instance, some of the African countries are the home of the African lion, which is a rare
animal. Still, because of lack of facilities and infrastructure, these nations cannot generate enough revenue
from tourism and have to spend huge money to protect this endangered animal. In conclusion, tourism can
change the country's image, if it is implemented properly or else it can be capable of destroying the country's
overall economy if it is not managed closely.
QUESTION :
Many people think that regions affect a successful person. What is your opinion about native
regions and accomplished persons in influences on the region he belongs to?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Many people argue that the success of an individual depends upon the environment in which he or she has
grown up. However, in my opinion, native place's environment is only one factor and a person's attitude,
capability and determination also play a pivotal role in achieving success. Native environment plays a
detrimental role in inculcating traits such as leadership, social skills, and so on. These qualities an individual
acquires over a period of time. The behaviour of people in the neighbourhood, school friends and college
friends signi?cantly affects behaviour and skills of a person. For instance, Mahatma Gandhi a famous Indian
leader received most of his leadership skills from people with whom he spent his childhood time. On the other
hand, it is not only native environment that is responsible for the development of an individual and his success.
After an individual moves out from his native place to some other place for work, he tends to learn new things
that he was not aware of at his home place. Moving to other places introduces an individual to new ideas and
new ways of doing things. It allows a person to think in a broad perspective, and this open-minded thinking
plays a vital role in a person's success. For example, Dhirubhai Ambani a famous Indian businessman
achieved all his success only after leaving his home town. While moving to different places, he learned
different people and various skills which he was not aware of at his native place. And these new learning
helped him rule the business world. To conclude, the only native environment may not be behind an
individual's success. There are a lot of other factors that take an individual towards success.

QUESTION:
People pursue dangerous activities like sky-diving, motorcycle sports, white-water river
rafting, etc. Do you support? If yes why, and if not why not?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
In recent years, extreme sports have become very popular, particularly for young people. I think that
these sports are fun and safe, and therefore I completely support these activities. Firstly, extreme
sports are exciting. People who participate in the sports can have a great sense of satisfaction,
especially when they manage to ?nish an activity successfully. I, for example, joined a marathon run
two years ago, and the feeling of achievement I experienced, when I crossed the ?nish line, was so
enormous that I could hardly ever forget. Furthermore, so-called extreme sports are not as dangerous
as many people think. There are several regulations and safety procedures that one must follow to
prevent the possibility of accidents. For example, if a person wants to try skydiving, he or she needs
to undergo su?cient training before she or he can dive solo. In addition, the protective equipment and
safety technology are continually improved to minimize the risk of the sports. Another reason why I
support extreme sport is that it would be wrong to prohibit the sports just because some people think
the sports are dangerous. Everyone has the freedom to choose how to spend their leisure time, as
long as this does not cause a negative effect to others. If the athletics strictly follow the regulations
and safety procedures of an extreme sport and equip with proper equipment, there should be no
reason to ban them from enjoying that activity. In conclusion, I believe that extreme sports are
enjoyable and safe, and therefore I strongly support the sports.
QUESTION :
In the education system, assessments through formal written examinations are still valid.
Discuss your opinion with your own experiences.
WRITE ESSAY
In recent years, we have all been exposed to media reports concerning whether written examinations are
essential in our education system. In this essay, it will draw conclusions based on both sides of the arguments.
Firstly, written examination is an objective approach to assess student capability. All students are exposed to
same exam settings with unambiguous marking criteria, which aim to avoid subjective marking that occurs in
other types of tests. The objectivity of written exams can be illustrated by the rising importance of a highly
standardized college entrance test in China. Every year, the sheer number of students take the test and
hundreds of universities acknowledge its validity. By excluding human factors, the test is deemed impartial so
that students academic performance can be fairly assessed. However, written examinations may bring about
some detrimental side effects that undermine its objectivity. Due to the signi?cance of some written exams,
students may under enormous pressure so that they are unable to excel their full potential resulting in an
unsatis?ed test result. For example, my brother was a gifted high school student who devoted to painting most
of his time. Unfortunately, drawing is not one of the testing subjects in the college entrance exam and this
talent was not access by such form of examination. The low school performance did not give him an
opportunity to attend the university he wish. Hence, the written test cannot said to be a true re?ection of
students ability. In conclusion, there are both merits, such as being objective, and demerits, such as being
partial in some situations, associated with formal written examinations. Overall, it is argued that advantages
outweigh the drawbacks.

responsibility to take action to prevent this change? Government, large corporation or
individuals? And explain why?

Humans are responsible for a variety of environmental problems, but we can also take steps to reduce the
damage that we are causing to the planet. This essay will discuss environmental problems and the measures
that governments and individuals can take to address these problems. Two of the biggest threats to the
environment are air pollution and waste. Gas emissions from factories and exhaust fumes from vehicles lead to
global warming, which may have a devastating effect on the planet in the future. As the human population
increases, we are also producing ever greater quantities of waste, which contaminates the earth and pollutes
rivers and oceans. Governments could certainly make more effort to reduce air pollution. They could introduce
laws to limit emissions from factories or to force companies to use renewable energy from solar, wind or water
power. They could also impose green taxes on drivers and airline companies. In this way, people would be
encouraged to use public transport and to take fewer ?ights abroad, therefore reducing emissions. Individuals
should also take responsibility for the impact they have on the environment. They can take public transport
rather than driving, choose products with less packaging, and recycle as much as possible. Most supermarkets
now provide reusable bags for shoppers as well as banks for recycling glass, plastic, and paper in their car
parks. By reusing and recycling, we can help to reduce waste. In conclusion, both national governments and
individuals must play their part in looking after the environment.

QUESTION:
As a result of advances in medical care, average life expectancy is increasing for men and women.
Do you think most people will see this as a positive development? What are the disadvantages of an
aging population for individuals and society?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
Researchers have shown that the average life of the human being has been increased dramatically from last
few years. This increase in life expectancy is obviously due to the use of modern equipment in the medical
care. Of course, everyone wants to live longer to enjoy life and so, this advancement is considered as positive
by most of the people on the earth. However, this drift has caused any adverse effects on the individuals as
well as society. Throughout the history, it has been seen that immortality has been considered as the blessing
from the God. Everyone wants to live more to spend some more years with their loved ones. Due to this greed
of longer life, most of the people on the earth consider advancement in the medical science positive. Apart
from this, at the social level, people feel that more aged people would bene?t the organization or the
government because of their knowledge and experience. For example, senior employees would guide the
juniors under them to work better. Nevertheless, an increase in the aged population has adversely impacted
the society as well as the individual. Firstly, owing to large aged population, the government has to do more
expenditure on medical care and pension of the senior citizen. This will increase the burden on the regime.
Secondly, youth have to work more and pay extra tax for this extra expense. Lastly, an increase in the
population also causes the detrimental effects on the environment as well. To sum up, if individually, everyone
would consider modern technology as a blessing for the human race as it gives more years to live. But at the
same time, it has negative impacts on individual, society and the environment as a whole.

QUESTION:
More and more wild animals are on the verge of extinction and many are endangered. What
are the causes of it and what measures can be taken to solve it?
WRITE ESSAY
SAMPLE ANSWER
The planet is meant to be shared by all species, humans, plants and animals. But, with increasing number of
people, an imbalance has been created which leads to either animal species becoming extinct or endangered.
Deforestation, consumption of animal products, hunting and pollution are the main causes for habitats to
vanish. There are several methods such as sharing money among communities, awareness, that can help
save animals. With the rising population, we have slowly crept into the spaces of the animals. Since one needs
space to live, massive deforestation has taken place, destroying the habitats of animals living in the forest. As
a consequence, animals are forced to relocate and sometimes enter into the habitat of humans. The second
reason for such a threatening scenario is the increased levels of pollution. For instance, air pollution is causing
death among the birds and water pollution among the ?shes. The ?rst step towards saving the animal species
is conservation. The animal habitat must be conserved and human entry must be restricted in those areas. The
next pragmatic step could be to give incentives to the communities living near the animal habitat. If the tourism
department, gives a share of the earned money to people living near animal habitat, chances are they will take
ownership of animals and take extra care. Overall, the main reasons causing extinction are the various
disturbances such as deforestation and hunting. However, measures like incentives for the community and
conservation can help protect the animals
