Theory X

In theory X assumes that the primary source of employee motivation is monetary, with security as a
strong second under theory X, one can take a hard or soft approach to getting result.

Theory X assumes that the average person:


• Dislikes work and attempts to avoid it. 
• Has no ambition, wants no responsibility, and would rather follow than lead. 
• Is self-centered and therefore does not care about organizational goals. 
• Resists change. 
• Is gullible and not particularly intelligent.

How the theory X is useful in motivating employees for optimum performances?

In theory X the manager tries to motivate the employees through fear, for example the manager try to
threaten them if they don't fix there job it will affect there salaries or they may be removed in their job.

Employees must be reward if they do there best in there job. Some employee want a salary increase as
regard, maybe they need more income for financial and some employee need motivational reward just
like giving a rest day with there family so they will be more dedicated to there job for the next rest day
as reward so they can spend time on there family.
Give them incentive if they do there best in there job.

Give the employee of the details about there job so they don't need to ask what they will do. But some
employees just follow that to lead, they just wait for the command before they do.

A good manager know how to communicate with his/her employees, some employee need to talk with
them in nice way by saying there bad habits or wrong doing in the workplace if they made a mistake
just say they do there job good but need to improve it. Some employee need to coerced them so they
will do there job.

When your employees not particularly intelligent, maybe they need to send them in a seminar so they
can have more knowledge not just in there assign job but also to have more information that can help
the organization if someone is absent.

Be an example to your employees so they can be more motivated when they see you as a responsible
leader. Show them how to be more responsible, behave in a way that someone can copy, especially by
doing something good.

Empower your employees you show that you are still the boss or there leader that need to be followed
for the organization success. But communicate with your employee clearly.
Encourage them self-improvement and show that you appreciate their efforts for the company.

Theory Y

The higher-level needs of esteem and self-actualization are continuing needs in that they are never
completely satisfied. As such, it is these higher-level needs through which employees can best be
motivated.

Theory Y makes the following general assumptions:


• Work can be as natural as play and rest. 
• People will be self-directed to meet their work objectives if they are committed to them.
• People will be committed to their objectives if rewards are in place that address higher
needs such as self-fulfillment.
• Under these conditions, people will seek responsibility. 
• Most people can handle responsibility because creativity and ingenuity are common in the
population.

How the theory Y is useful in motivating employees for optimum performances?

In theory Y it assume that employees like work and seek responsibility and capable of making decision
and exercise self direction and self control when committed to a goal, so the manager can no have
problem with the workers because they do there job good.

In this theory when in came to morale vs. power there is no conflict because everyone is a professionals
in work and in there mind. They already know what are the assign job for them.

An employee who loves his/her job they just feel as they doing their hobbies just like natural as play
and rest.

The employees in this theory will look forward how they can improve more to there job. So they can be
more fit and how can they help more the organization.

Every employees whether it based in theory x and theory y they need an incentive,rewards but to be
fare for those who there job good.
