1.

Managers and Management

Management is a process of getting things done in an effective and efficient manner.


Management plays a vital role in the life of a manager. In any organization, Manager is
the person whose duty is to manage the overall activities of the organization in which
they work effectively and efficiently. It means it is their responsibility to choose the right
things and make them right. It is their responsibly to get to know that the culture of their
organizational environment have a solid impact on the way an organization should be
manage.
In my organization, Managers are playing a vital role in the production of any project.
There is a complete hierarchy being followed. They are given proper training through
workshops and orientation sessions. There are seven teams and each team consists of one
project manager and one team lead. Duties of a manager include, defining a specific role,
planning proper strategies, making them well organized and to deliver all the executable
steps to their respective teams. In Crewlogix, Managers are supposed to present a proper
time line when they are given any project to manage.
The main thing, which a manger is supposed to follow, is the path, which he is choosing
and he should be fully clear about his visions and missions while working on any project.

2. The Management Environment

Managerial environment consists of two main parts internal environment and external
environment. Internal Environment includes the happenings, which are controllable
whereas for external environment happenings are uncontrollable. Not even a single
organization and managers can work properly without knowing its external and internal
environment happenings and structures.
In my organization, Managers are given the right to excel their knowledge using both
internal and external counts. The culture implement and followed by any organization
always tries to lead us to our goals.
Decisions taken by the management shows the amount of freedom they have. It shows
the amount of power they have. And in my organization, managers are given this much
authority that they are able to make such decisions with the sense of responsibility and
correctness.
In the end, I just want to say is that in order to make managers powerful, they should be
asked to work on their degree of integrity and behavior. Management is all about
temperament and delivering things. A person who is fully aware of his long term and
short term goals and uses the best possible strategies to make his organization and his
workers to work in some right direction
3. The Integrative Managerial Issues

Under this chapter, the first thing we have learned is the Globalization and its impact on
the organization. Under this regard, Crewlogix Technologies is doing an excellent job.
Crewlogix is not only working on the positivity of their own selves but they also try to
build strong connections with their clients. Crewlogix also tries to enhance the skills of
their employees, by giving them proper training. In addition to this, Crewlogix is working
globally and worldwide after getting a huge success by working with their national
clients.

4. Foundations of Decision Making

Under this heading; we learned that managers take decisions in a flow of activities that
starts from the identification of a problem to its execution and evaluation of decision
electiveness. At Crewlogix Technologies, before the introduction Project Management
Room in every department, decisions were taken randomly. And after the establishment
of Project Management Room, if any issue arises or faced by the team the concerned
people are asked to find the reason of its occurring. And this process is providing with a
positive feedback.
At Crewlogix, managers are more concerned about the identification of the problem.
Relatively high weightage is given to identification of problem and its cause. In my
opinion,, the weightage should be given to alternatives and analysis of alternative
decisions to avoid any penalty at employee’s side. Also weightage should be given to the
evaluation of decision effectiveness.

As, Me myself is working as a manager and being a manager and to make a best decision
it is my responsibility to reframe the exact problem and try to evaluate my problem in as
many ways as I can, and the reason behind opting this technique is that it helps me and all
the other managers in neglecting other points and to focus only on the one which will
surely help me. After reframing my problem and focusing on the one scenario, I always
start making evidence rather than simply trying to give one person view point, And I start
asking majority about the pros and cons. The main thing, which I learned through my
experience, is that we all should challenge our gut feelings.
While making any proper decision, managers should let go of his past mistakes and
should try to fix his present situation confidently. It means taking into account the
evidence that is available at the time. He should try to get this much confident that he
actually can solve the problem in any case and after making his mind he should review
the problem and the circumstances.
Another way of making decision by any manager is to develop a giant action plan
document in order to solve the problems manger’s organization is facing. After this he
should develop a time line sheet to each of his lined tasks. After this a manger should
create his budget and should try to get into the 80 – 20 scenario. The best way to make
any decision by a manger is experienced based technique through which he can get into
the right decision on the basis of proper facts and figures. But there is a nicer ending
approach, which a manager can follow.
5 Foundations of Planning

Manager is the person whose duty is to manage and plan all the activities of the

In Crewlogix, A proper training has been given in the first three months when the
manager is hired. And while making any proper decision, managers are asked to let go of
their past mistakes and are asked to try and fix their present situation confidently. It
means taking into account the evidence that is available at the time. Managers are given
this much confident that they actually can solve the problem in any case.

6 Organizational Structures and Design

An organization cannot be structural or unique until or unless they follow some structure.
The key elements in designing any organization includes; Departmentalization Authority
and Responsibility, Span of Control Centralization versus Decentralization, and
Foundation.
All the departments are purely based on work specialization and Responsibility at
Crewlogix Technologies. Each individual is responsible to perform specific task and all
the modules are then combined to deploy the major task. Departmentalization and work
specialization makes my organization effective in delivering timely tasks. Marketing,
technical, business development, sales, HRM and other major departments are
performing according to their capabilities and responsibilities. Authority relationship
management is one major problem in Crewlogix. As I mentioned earlier, CEOs have to
indulge in most of the decisions related to technical department. Crewlogix now is
looking for experienced managers to run the department. On paper there is a unity of
command in the company, but an employee is answerable to its associated project
manager, its department manager and Project Manager Room (PRO).

7 Managing Human Resources

Workforce diversity is the most important aspect of HRM processes. In my opinion,


Crewlogix is lacking under this process. As, we are not having a proper Human Resource
Manager because my organization is working under the supervision of Project Managers.
Crewlogix tries to hire right people at right place, but they are not on time. Also my
organization does believe in diverse workforce still they are lacking while implementing
it. At Crewlogix the turnover practice is one of the worst. They don’t give employee the
time of improvement, to self-learn and there is no program of employee learning and
development. They just give the notice and take back all company assets instantly from
the employee when they fire. One month notice period is applicable to employee side but
not on the company side. This is one of the negating aspects here. In my opinion, the
practice of internal hiring should be erased once and for all.

In addition to this, HR should provide enough orientation once the employee is hired. If
the employee is at managerial level, he or she is provided with company policies and
structures. But any other employee is not given well enough introductions about the
company. He or she is dependent on the manager of his/her department to give enough
knowledge about the work, structure, policies and domain.

Human resource department at Crewlogix is unable to provide enough training and


development workshops for the employees. There is no case of any sexual harassment
reported in my organization as per my knowledge. In Workforce spirituality, employees
know why the company exists. Employee’s behavior and attitude towards his work are
the characteristics that are considered valuable. Employees are nurtured as well but only
competent employees are given importance for this purpose. In health care and Pensions,
as being a part of private sector, there is no concept of pensions but medical fund is
provided only for the employees in case of any emergency like accidents. In my view,
pensions should be provided when an employee cross a certain level of service whether it
is private or public sector as long as there are profits for them. One good thing about
perks is Provident funds, and is doubled when employee cross one year of employment.

Now, The point is what kind of a person should be given a chance, the person who
already is an excellent or the one who has just passed the competencies skills?
What I feel to this is that if an organization hires a person who already have those
excellent skill set, that person will surely set higher rank and his/her leads will
expect more than what he/she might be producing. Contrary to this, if a company
hires the candidate who just passed the competency test and was an average, he will
try to provide some better result as this person still thinks of having the chances of
betterment.

8 Managing Change and Innovation

Like any other software company Crewlogix is working on its expansion in


some positive strategies and achievable goals. The employees welcome any
good change as they think that they are not learning anything new with same
processes on daily basis. Crewlogix tries to implement new and efficient ideas
in order to make its workers work efficiently. They introduced many new
system in order to record the in and out of all the employees. In addition to this,
they introduced the use of Trello and Jira Boards. Both the boards are used to
record the daily-performed tasks and to manage any project. This board are
very helpful as they try to provide a complete knowledge and allows the
managers to manage their task easily and effectively. These boards are also
helpful when the Chief Operation teams tries to view the performances.
Through this board, my organization tries to have an eye-view on the project
managers as well.

According to my view, change can be implemented slowly but timely.


Employees have to adjust themselves at is continuously improving in this
regard and in few time proper documentation of SRS (Software Requirement
Specification), use of Jira and other task management portals, reducing bad
habits like coming late in the office and late sittings at the office and HR
process enhancements can be made possible.

9 Foundations of Individual Behavior 


Under this heading we studied two types of individual Behavior; Psychological and
Social. According to my opinion the one of the deadliest symptoms of stress is
Psychological stress. As in our culture this thing is getting worse that instead of
telling people and sharing the stuff what keeps bothering us we keeps fighting with
our inner self and try to hide our emotions and the negativity that actually bother
us. Psychological stress is one that has a great impact on our behavior and physical
health.
My organization believes that thinking’s have a great impact on our attitude and
reactions. According to Crewlogix, if a person is mentally unhealthy then this
unhealthiness will surely have a worse impact on his behavior, his reactions and the
way that person makes his dealings.
Psychologists say that when a person is in stress it can be visible through his
behavioral attitude. Like in order to read any person we need to have a look on his
behavior. The way that person behaves, reacts, responds, through his attitude and
by his presence of mind.
Psychological behavior is the root of all the other two types. If a person in a mental
stress then this thing will have a negative impact on his behavior and physical
appearance.
Now, the thing is how a person can make himself free from any stress?
According to me, If a person starts thinking positively and try to live in his current
moment without giving any importance to what would be happening other than this
and if he try to think that whatever he thinks he will get but at the right time and if
he become a proactive type. And try to take thing in a positive way.
In my opinion, if a person starts thinking about the law of gravity that what he
thinks he will surely get.
Psychological stress has a worse Impact on any individual and it leads to behavioral
and physical disorders. So, if a person’s psyche level is fit then he is totally it

11 Motivating and Rewarding Employees 


Motivation is a combination of energy, direction and persistence. And rewarding is


to give a person some positive return to his doings and to his efforts. When both
these categories, motivation and rewarding unites they results in a very positive
output.
At Crewlogix Technologies, employee’s motivation is very important as it gives
him/her a sense to work and tells him that if he is working in a proper direction.
Motivation leads to the acknowledgement and tells that a person is working with
accuracy and at times when any of us is not working in the way he is supposed to
then motivation leads in finding some new and useful idea. So what Crewlogix think
is that if they are motivating a person at the time when he is unable to fulfill his
tasks properly, when they are guiding that person to the right direction and
motivate him then this can lead him to rethink and do his brain storming.
Talking about myself and mu organization, I personally needs motivations at the
time when I am unable to perform or to deliver my projects on time, due to any
uncertainties. My senior manager always guides me and teaches me not to be
demotivated. And I myself, being a project manager always try to allow my team
members to work freely and to give their tasks on time. And I do open house
meeting with my team, once in every month. And the purpose is to have a mutual
discussion like if any of my teammate is facing any problem from any end or if I am
having any issues with the provided quality.
In my opinion, Reward is happiness. Happiness that is achieved when any of us tries
to perform his task on time and follows proper direction and have a clarity of mind
about the project which he is asked to deliver.

12 Leadership and Trust

A leader is a person who can influence others and who has managerial
authority. Leadership is a process of leading group and influencing that group
to achieve their goals. And in order to achieve any goal a leader has to fulfill
all the short-term objectives.
Crewlogix Technologies is one of the organizations, which have a hub of
managers. Under this head, we discussed leaders. As every leader can be good
manager but not every manager can be a good leader. Leaders are different
from managers and there are some traits, which make them unique. These traits
includes; Desire to lead, Honesty and Integrity, Self Confidence, Intelligence,
Job relevant knowledge, and extraversion.
Crewlogix Technologies have managers who are relatively experienced enough
to run the departments and each one of them is loaded by some driving force is
which helps to motivate employees. Leaders led my example and they
influence their junior workers. Different kind of situations demand different
kind of leadership roles but managers in my organization set predefined process
to every type of situations either it is any tough or smooth.

And up till now they are pretty much successful in that. Crewlogix believes that
they do not need any leader for now, as the managers are available to get the
work done. But to drive employees and motivate them to create a sense of
achievement to follow a distinctive path, they would need leaders in future.
More directive and supportive leaders would require.

13 Managing Communication and Information 


In any organization, Communication is the channels, which can actually take any person
from bottom to top or from top to bottom. Communication is process of transferring
meanings and understandings from one person to another.
In my organization; there is not any way to communicate in an informal way with any of
the co-worker. In addition to this, each and every bit of the conversation is being
recorded on the board. For meetings or for any sort of communication employees are
Crewlogix Technologies respects their employees and they strongly believes in
immediate feedback service.
In order to enhance the communication skills of employees, Crewlogix follow
some strategies, they try to have training sessions once after every month in
order to get employees feedback on their concerns and the concerns of
management regarding each one of their employees. At Crewlogix, Upper
management plays a vital role by indulging themselves more in communication
with the employees and other junior staff.
