with ND = 1017 /cm3 and p-type Si
NA = 1016/cm3. Assume 1.5 x1010/cm3 and Given that
ε= εoεr = 11.7 x 8.85 x10-14.
(a)Estimate nno, npo, ppo , and pno. Sketch the carrier
concentration (of both electrons and holes) as a
function of position.
(b) Formulate the built-in potential Vbi in eV and
determine the space charge width

COURSE OUTCOME
CO1: Explain Conduction in semiconductors, Volt-Ampere characteristic, transition and diffusion
capacitance, Tunnel, p-i-n and Schottky barrier diodes and their characteristics, Miller’s
theorem and Darlington pair.
CO2: Solve Numerical based on charge densities in semiconductors. Construct Rectifiers & Filters
and Modelling of BJT transistor.
CO3: Analyze Fermi level in semiconductors, BJT small signal circuits and Large Signal Amplifiers.
CO4: Quantitative Analysis of PN junction diode, Design L, C, LC, multiple LC, CLC filter circuits,
transistor biasing circuits and push-pull amplifiers.
