Zomato refuses customers request to change non-Hindu delivery boy
Food delivery company Zomato refused to resolve a customer’s complaint about being
assigned a Muslim delivery executive for his food order. “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is
a religion”, the company tweeted in response to the customer’s request for a change of the
rider.
A man tweeted about cancelling his order placed on Zomato as the designated rider was
“non-Hindu”.
Amit Shukla, a resident of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, tweeted. “Just cancelled an order on
@ZomatoIN they allocated a non-Hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider
and can’t refund on cancellation I said you can’t force me to take a delivery I don’t want
don’t refund just cancel”. In a series of tweets, he also shared screenshots of his conversation
with Zomato’s customer care, saying he would take up the issue with his lawyers.
The company stood its ground and refused to change the delivery executive.
Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal in an internal message to his team at Zomato applauded
the customer team for “upholding our values and not discriminate on basis of caste or religion
for sake of growth (or customer satisfaction)”. He told his team not succumb to any demands
of a customer, partner, or even an employee on racial grounds or grounds of any form of
diversity.
He also shared a screenshot of the app’s chat support, through which he requested for a
different delivery executive. When asked for a reason for the change was “We have Shravan
and I don’t need a delivery from a Muslim fellow”.
The customer care executive responded that cancelling the order would cost him Rs 237, and
then said: “At Zomato, we don’t discriminate on basis of riders, I hope you understand”.
Shukla tweeted that Zomato was “forcing us to take deliveries from people we don't want”.
He claimed he was uninstalling the app as the company was not cooperating and he would
discuss the matter with his lawyers.

IRCTC claims to operate one of the most transacted websites in the Asia-Pacific region, with
transaction volume averaging 15-18 million transactions per month during the first quarter
of this fiscal. As of June 30, more than 1.40 million passengers travelled on Indian Railways
on a daily basis. The IRCTC filed the draft red herring prospectus for its proposed IPO with
the SEBI. The issue is in the Rs. 500-600 crore range. The issue comprises two crore equity
shares of face value of Rs 10 each. 15 % of the offer, will be available to non-institutional
bidders and at least 35 % to retail individual bidders. Any unsubscribed portion will be
available for allocation proportionately to all eligible employees. IRCTC would sign the
Underwriting Agreement. After finalising the offer price - will file an updated Red Herring
Prospectus with Registrar of Companies (RoC). The book running lead managers to the
IRCTC IPO are IDBI Capital Markets & Securities Limited and SBI Capital Markets
Limited. If the IPO is successful, it will help the central government meet its disinvestment
target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore for the current fiscal.

Future is Here: Microsoft, Bengaluru created human hologram capable of speaking
any language.
As technology continues to grow, high-quality 3D holograms will be the way to deliver
life-like presentations and speeches around different parts of the world. The tech has
been in development for a long while, and now, Microsoft has developed a hologram
that can speak in different languages, even without changing the voice of the person
whose hologram it is. Microsoft executive Julia White explained how difficult it is for
her to deliver speeches around the world in local languages. But then, she demonstrated
the Redmond giant’s solution to the problem: a life-sized, mixed reality hologram that
leveraged AI and spoke Indian languages. White didn’t know how to speak Indian
languages, but her hologram did, and that too in her own voice. Though the hologram
demonstrated by White looked futuristic, the tech behind it is totally real. They created
the virtual rendition with two main technologies - Mixed Reality capture studio and
neural text-to-speech. Anyone could see using Microsoft’s HoloLens 2, the company
made it deliver the same speech in Indian languages. It first transcribed the speech into
text and translated using Azure technologies and then employed an AI tech called neural
text-to-speech to convert the Indian languages text into real speech sounding like White.
The holographic technology showcased by Microsoft could be streamlined and used for
ending barriers of communication and distance in the near future. Basically, people
could have the power to deliver speeches in different parts of the world without actually
being at a particular place or knowing a particular language spoken at that place. This
could completely revolutionize the keynotes of the future!

and to meet new people. The objective of the company is to provide companionship, platonic
relationship and extra-marital affair (physical intimacy) and emotional relationship. The
company promised to provide a platform or clutter for free space. The company guarantee’s
the website to be of safe use and offers confidentiality to its member. The company offers
the services based on compatibility and verification. One of the objects of the company
identifies that it is “not to interfere with the institution of marriage” but “to create a secure
and anonymous space for people seeking affairs outside their relationships. Membership fee
is Rs. 1500/- for men and Rs. 700 for Women. The members shall share their phone numbers

IL&FS, India’s leading infrastructure finance company, defaulted on payment to lenders,
triggering panic in the market. IL&FS has over Rs 91,000 crore in debt and is facing severe
liquidity crisis. The default in payment of interest by the company has raised concerns over
its financial stability. Since September 12, IL&FS has defaulted in payments of interest more
than seven times so far. At the annual general meeting of the company on September 29,
shareholders, SBI, LIC and Orix Corporation agreed to subscribe to the proposed Rs 4,500-
crore rights issue. LIC owns 25.34 % - SBI owns 6.42 % - Orix Corporation of Japan holds
23.54 % stake. The market indices, Sensex and Nifty, fell during the trading session
yesterday due to the IL&FS crisis. The defaults in payments by certain group entities of
IL&FS have triggered fears of liquidity crisis in the financial markets.
The scam at IL&FS came to light last year after several group entities defaulted on
repayments. Analysis of e-mails and information collected from personnel and other sources
have revealed that a whistle blower complaint was responsible for unearthing the fraud. The
beleaguered auditors Deloitte Haskins and Sells and BSR and Co (a KPMG affiliate) are
faced with several charge sheets, petitions, show-cause notices and requests for information
from the probe agencies. Deloitte Haskins and Sells, and BSR & Associates LLP (a KPMG
affiliate) are facing probe for concealing information by not flagging the alleged criminal
conspiracy and misreporting the financial statements of the IL&FS firms. The auditors are
facing scrutiny for violations of their auditing standards as they failed to detect alleged
financial inconsistencies at Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS). The
beleaguered auditors are faced with several charge sheets, petitions, show-cause notices and
requests for information. The agencies that have cornered Deloitte and BSR comprise a
charge sheet filed by the SFIO in a sessions court in Mumbai, MCA petition to bar the
auditors in the NCLT, a quality review by the National Financial Regulatory Authority
(NFRA), disciplinary proceedings by the ICAI, an investigation by the SEBI looking into
the auditors’ role in IL&FS group’s listed entities namely IL&FS Transportation Networks
Ltd (ITNL) and Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) request for information which is a part of
its probe into a case of money laundering at IL&FS group.
