The Effects of Elbow Joint Angle

Changes on Elbow Flexor and
Extensor Muscle Strength and
Activation

Project Jeongok Yang, Joongsook Lee,

Bomjin Lee
• Muscle strength is proportional to the length.
We tried to figure out any dependency on the
angle.
• We tried to analyse the relation between angle
Introduction of elbow and the muscle EMG value for
performing the same task.
Angles - 0, 45 and 90 degrees

Muscles – biceps and triceps

Experiment No. of subjects – 5

Setup
Each subject will be lifting weight starting from the
initial angle of 0, 45 and 90.

Weights used 5Kg (in paper they haven't used any

weights)
Firing was
different in
Triceps were firing
subjects with
continuously and
different lifestyle
most active at 45
eg. Gym goers and
non-gym goers.

Observation
Magnitude of Angle of action
Biceps firing were affects the
higher than triceps strength not
firing. proportionally.
Future Scope

EXPERIMENT WITH OTHER JOINTS E.G. FINDING THE ANGLE WHICH GIVES DESIGNING OF IMPROVED CAPABILITY
KNEE, ANKLE MAXIMUM STRENGTH WHICH WOULD PROSTHETICS
HELP ATHLETES
