Purge Plug Systems for clean steel melting in coreless induction furnaces of all sizes and
capacities
The Foseco CIF purge plug system consists of a complete range of refractory purge plugs
based upon mass porosity ceramic elements, stainless steel containment, and engineered flow
control & metering systems.

Foseco Purge Plugs have been designed for use in conjunction with our full range of acidic,
basic, and neutral KELLUNDITE* dry-vibratable working linings for coreless induction furnaces.

Application Foseco Purge Plug Assemblies should be

selected according to the total thickness of the
refractory lining in the bottom of the furnace.
For best results, the Foseco Purge Plug should
be located approximately 50-100 mm (2”-4”)
below the hot face surface of bottom
refractory.

The table below provides a guide for selection

of the appropriate Foseco Purge Plug.

Foseco CIF Purge Plugs should not be placed

in direct contact with molten metal.

Foseco Purge Plugs can be operated

intermittently or on a continual basis and are
designed to last the full campaign of the
lining. For additional application instructions,
reference document MT-PR-40.

Packaging Packaged in specially designed cartons and pallets.

Storage & Shelf Life Purge plugs should be stored in a dry location away from any potential mechanical impact.
When stored properly, Foseco Purge Plugs have a shelf life of one year after shipment.
