PURPOSE
1.1 This procedure is to supplement the existing ERP and Fire Emergency
procedures, in order to identify the potential for emergency situations and the
corresponding responses during an earthquake.
2. SCOPE
2.1 This procedure applies to Jebsen & Jesssen Group of companies in
Indonesia
3. RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 The respective EHS Chair is to ensure potential emergency situations and
responses, arising during an earthquake, are identified and reviewed.
3.2 The respective ERP Leader is to ensure regular training on emergency
preparedness and response is carried out.

6 PROCEDURE
6.1 ERP Management
6.1.1 Earthquakes strike suddenly, violently and without warning. Identifying
potential hazards ahead of time and advance planning can reduce the dangers
of serious injury or loss of life from an earthquake. Repairing deep plaster
cracks in ceilings and foundations, anchoring overhead lighting fixtures to the
ceiling, and following local seismic building standards, will help reduce the
impact of earthquakes. Considerations should be given to the following:
Away from where glass could shatter around windows, mirrors, pictures,
or where heavy bookcases or other heavy furniture could fall over.
In the open, away from buildings, trees, telephone and electrical lines,
overpasses, or elevated expressways.
6.2.1 If indoors
Upon feeling the tremor or shaking of the building, immediately seek
COVER by getting under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture; and
HOLD ON until the shaking stops. If there isn’t a table or desk near you,
cover your face and head with your arms and crouch in an inside corner
of the building.
Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything
that could fall, such as lighting fixtures or furniture.
Use a doorway (main doors or fire exit doors) for shelter only if it is
in close proximity to you and if you know it is a strongly supported,
load-bearing doorway.
Stay inside until shaking stops and it is safe to go outside.
Research has shown that most injuries occur when people inside
buildings attempt to move to a different location inside the
building or try to leave.
Once the shaking has stopped, evacuate from the building.
DO NOT hang around near the building to avoid being hit by
collapsing walls, flying glass, and falling objects. Move to a safe
distance from the building.
Be aware that the electricity may go out or the sprinkler systems or fire
alarms may turn on.
DO NOT use the elevators.
RETURN to the building only after the ERP Leader has confirmation
from the building management ERP team that it is safe to do so.
6.2.2 If outdoors
Stay there.
Stop as quickly as safety permits and stay in the vehicle. Avoid stopping
near or under buildings, trees, overpasses, and utility wires.
Proceed cautiously once the earthquake has stopped. Avoid roads,
bridges, or ramps that might have been damaged by the earthquake.
Stay away from damaged areas. Stay away, unless your assistance
is specifically requested by police, fire, or relief organizations.
Return to your workplace only when told that it is safe.
