WHY NOT INDIA

The Indian Education system is such; it gives importance to theoretical cramming of knowledge rather
than practical use of it in real life. Education is treated like a business and not the noble profession of
sharing knowledge which it is. No doubt India has many prestigious institutions like Indian Institute of
Management in various cities, Christ University in Bangalore, but the entrance in these are through
impossible to crack entrance examination with just a few seats to offer. Furthermore, even after getting
into these the students have to face several obstacles like the reservation system, costly fees and even
corruption. I myself have faced this first hand. The lack of good faculty is another of my reasons to study
out of India. Having completed my graduation I want to do my Master from such an environment which
can help my overall growth and expand my thinking abilities. I do not want to limit myself to the Indian
Educational framework. Doing my masters from Australia will help me gain the desired global exposure
required for my career.

WHY AUSTRALIA
Selecting a country was a tough choice during my research but Australia was my final select. Australia is
not only among the world’s best tourist destinations it is one the most preferred country by
international students. USA and UK are considered the most expensive education provider countries in
the world. Most of the universities in USA require additional tests of GRE and GMAT to secure your
place which are tough to clear. Crime rate is also higher in USA as compared to Australia. Australia’s
familiar weather conditions unlike the cold climate of Canada will help me settle down easily. Australia is
the only country which has implemented educational acts which reserves the rights of international
students. It is probably one of the safest countries for not only Indian students but other international
students as well. The ESOS act gives the international students the rights to information about course
offered, subjects, actual fee structure, and method of delivery of the course by the institution. The best
thing about this act is its tuition fee protection policy which ensures the investment of an international
student is safe. I could not find such student friendly policies in other countries.

Moreover, Australia has 7 out of top 100 universities in the world so it shows the quality of education
provided by the country. A degree from Australia is not only recognised globally but even the Indian top
companies prefer to hire their graduates. In Australia, the approach of teaching is practical along with
the use of latest techniques and updated syllabus which will make increase the chances of me as a
fresher to be a part of the leading organizations of the world. So due to all these reasons, I want to study
in Australia.

WHY JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY?

Having done my bachelors from India, I wanted to have a different experience for my Masters. After a
lot of research upon the choice of institute I choose James Cook University from many options. Australia
is full of top class universities and colleges which are known for standard of education. For example, I
have read about La Trobe University (world rank 301) that has 6 MBA programs available for July intake
and annual cost for MBA degree in this university is around AUD $ 40000. University Wollongong( world
rank 201 introducing master of Business Advanced for August intake, annual fees for which is AUD $
39312. The University of Sydney (world rank 59) also offers Master of Business Administration
(leadership and enterprise) which is the only MBA program in this institute, starting in August 2019 for a
duration of 18 months. The reason to choose James Cook University for the November intake is not only
the comparatively low annual tuition fee which is AUD $ 31600 but also the fact that it is the second
oldest educational institute in Queensland. JCU is universally recognised for its expertise in marine
biology, environmental studies, tropical health and tourism. The courses are accredited by industry and
professional associations and many experts are guest lecturers for post graduate programs. Over the
past 5 years JCU academics have won 31 national awards for teaching excellence from the Australian
teaching and learning council. It is ranked in top 2% of universities in the pre-eminent global ranking
system. Its international reputation for its leadership in tourism teaching and research is well known. I
think that this university will provide me with the best opportunities to excel in my career. After making
comparative analysis of fees, course availability and its excellency in education sector I even read a lot of
positive reviews which ultimately, helped me to decide to join JCU.

WHY MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (LEADERSHIP)?

I have completed my bachelors last year and after which I am eligible to do my masters programs.
Students graduated in any stream can easily go for a MBA degree. The Master of Business
Administration (Leadership) program will enable me to facilitate communication and cooperation
among my employees. MBA in leadership courses integrates business expertise with the interpersonal
skills needed for affective leadership and management. The broad–based and interdisciplinary course
will qualify me for management and supervisory roles in all industries. After earning this degree, I might
even claim top executive or management positions in government agencies, non-profit corporations,
private corporations or other institutions. I have chosen this leadership focused program because after
graduating from this program several job opportunities on the top level positions in approximately all
industries will open up for me. The program will also give me key benefits such as development of
insights required to critically engage as a major leader in dynamic, diverse and dispersed world.
Additionally, the program will give me chance to adopt new skills and increase ability to foster effective
and ethical organisational leadership. Furthermore, JCU’s work integrated learning program helps
students to gain real world experience and establish networks with relevant organisations.

The various skills I shall be equipped with, after graduation from JCU :-

 Able to analyse leadership theories and building successful teams.

 Analysing complex business-related information and work from both historical and recent
perspectives.
 Evaluating sustainable economic, social and environmental works and value systems from
different disciplinary perspectives.
 Able to present complex business analysis and information effectively to diverse audience.

Some of the core units I will learn about are :-

o People in Organizations

MY VISION FOR THE FUTURE

After successfully completing this course, I will be equipped to manage and lead my team which is a
great skill and necessity in my profession. An MBA degree separates you from the crowd. Doing my
Master of Business Administration that too from an Australian university will be like a head start to my
career. The demand for an MBA graduate in Indian economy where almost every day new companies
are set up is great. Any reputed Multinational Company in India will readily hire an MBA graduate like
me if I pursue my masters from JCU.
