Introduction:
This course presents the basic procedures for determining the cooling/heating units and distribution
system required for a building in order to maintain comfort atmosphere for people. This course will
also help in determining and evaluating building heat loads, air circulation quantities, use of
psychometric processes, computing the cooling unit & air handler tonnage and sizing the air
distribution ducts.
Course Coverage:
Introduction to HVAC
Heat conduction & thermal resistance
Basics of refrigeration cycle, psychometric charts
Working principle of HVAC systems and equipment
Building construction and heat loads
Psychometric chart and Air conditioning calculations
Example calculation with software program
Duct and Pipe sizing basic
Ventilation and pressurization
Participant Profile:
This course is designed for mechanical engineers, diploma holders, architects, building inspectors,
contractors, project managers and anyone who wishes to start and enhance his career in HVAC
industry.
Instructor Profile:
An experienced and highly qualified professionals in HVAC design and estimation, fabrication and
management will conduct this course.
Methodology:
The course will be delivered through lectures, multimedia presentations, videos and hands-on
practice on modern CAD/CAM specific computers.
Learning Outcome:
Participants will have a clear concept of HVAC design and analysis. They will be able to do design
calculations and understand design capability, material selection and type of construction to
minimise heat conduction, minimise radiation, ability to select compatible cooling (heating) units, air
handlers and duct design to assure balanced flow rates.
