Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

RATIONALE

In today’s modern age technology where the computer has become a way of life,

it is evident that a majority of the country’s institutions adapts the high technology.

Where you can manipulate the advantages of using the internet. It helps a lot in such a

way that it makes work more progressive and productive. We all know that modern

clinics are now operating to serve as may patients as possible with the best of their

abilities and capabilities. Nowadays a lot of Dental and Hospitals were using Computer

Systems for them to keep files and have security purposes.

The process of the online appointment is to choose their own online schedule in

the clinic. The adding of new patient in the database will be done by filling up an

application form on the web based will automatically generate and stored as a new

registered user. The online appointment services differ from the traditional mode in the

capacity to provide services regardless of temporal and spatial constraints. They are also

different from traditional interpersonal services that are delivered face-to-face. It allows

persons to employ Information Technology without being tied to a single location. This

technology enables users to access the site at any time in any location. A suitable use of

the online reservation services and wireless technology allows new application,

management and reservation for dental clinic via online services. The objective of online

reservation is to reduce the effort and the time for the customers to set appointment and to

receive services and improved the reservation validation efficiency.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

Our main aim of the project is to get the correct information about particular

Patient and to reduce human efforts.

The admin can maintain all the records about Patient Details, Appointments, Doctor

Details and Follow ups and save it in the database. Enable the administrators to search

documents and records by criteria such as patient name, date of birth, address and

medical conditions from within familiar Office applications.

Specifically, the study sought to achieve the following:

1. Content management system

2. To manage and save all the patient record accurately and computerized

3. Access of level of users:

3.1. Doctor

3.2. Patient

3.3. Admin

3.4. Community

4. To design forms for appointment module

5. To develop a form for the patient’s comment/suggestions

6. To allow doctors to retrieve complete patient history and treatment that had

been done.

7. To provide an interactive tooth illustration charting to make the process of

recording patient dental information easier.

8. To allow patients for free dental consultations

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The Yturralde dental clinic still uses a manual procedure in keeping records

of their past and present patients. In making a reservation the patients must fill-up a

form to have an appointment on the clinic. As for phone call reservation same process

applies but it takes more time because of too many inquiries and question, and because

it is not a face-to-face transaction error is inevitable. With the use of online reservation

created by the proponents, this will help the clinic in updating and improving their

current system.

The Dental Clinic will have their own website with a user-friendly interface

wherein patients can easily have a reservation through online giving them a more easy

way and hassle free reservation. This study needs to have a computer and internet

connection that will be used as a way to connect and access the web application to

their computers, to obtain information that will be needed for them to easily find ways

on how they can go through their destination at ease. If it happens that the addressee

does not have a computer and internet connection, they might not access the

information and that might be troublesome for them.
