HONOURS FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH PANEL ASSESSMENT
PANEL SYSTEM –DIGITAL IMAGES (CD/DVD/Flash drive Presentations)
1.1 General - The standards set for Licentiateship and Associateship are equivalent to those needed to gain
the same Honour under the Exhibition System. FAPS requires the submission of work showing outstanding
technique and originality and MAPS not only outstanding technique, but also creativity and personal style.
Details regarding application criteria and the application process for MAPS are contained in APA8 – MAPS by
Panel. The below information does NOT apply to MAPS applicants.
Digital Image submissions via CD/DVD/flash drive shall have a maximum horizontal size of 1920 pixels, a
maximum vertical size of 1080 pixels, and a file size no greater than 2 MB for each image. A JPEG format in the
sRGB Colour Space is required. CDs/DVD/Flash drives containing the digital images are to be clearly identified
with the applicant’s name. Images on CD/DVD/Flash drive should be numbered in a three digit format such that
they are burned to the CD/DVD/Flash drive in the order in which they are to be presented to the Panel i.e. 001,
002….020 etc.
For approval by the Assessment Panel, an image must receive at least 3 of the possible 5 votes for LAPS and
AAPS; 4 votes for FAPS and MAPS.
1.2 How To Apply - Applicants must complete the appropriate forms supplied by APS and forward them with
the submission to the addresses as advertised in form AGA2. Applicants intending to apply by CD/DVD/Flash
drive should meet the Requirements set out in APA3.
1.3 “Deemed to Satisfy” An image which has gained at least 5 Acceptances in approved National and/or
International salons may be used by an Applicant to satisfy part of the Panel requirements without the need for
the image to be considered by the Panel. As the images in a FAPS panel must be of international Standard, for
FAPS an image will meet the “deemed to satisfy” test only if it has gained at least 5 International acceptances.
Rewritten
For LAPS & AAPS images which have at least 5 Acceptances each in approved National and/or International
salons may be regarded as "deemed to satisfy" images to meet part of the Panel requirements. For FAPS images
which have at least 5 Acceptances each in approved International salons may be regarded as "deemed to satisfy"
images to meet part of the Panel requirements.
An image that does NOT have the required number of acceptances will still be regarded as “deemed to satisfy”
if it has gained an award at National/International level for LAPS and AAPS and International level for FAPS.
Awards
From the above "deemed to satisfy" images, a separate “deemed to satisfy" award test will be applied to the
awards requirement for AAPS and FAPS.
For AAPS "deemed to satisfy" images which have obtained an award in an approved National or International
salon will also be deemed to satisfy the award requirements for AAPS. No more than 2 awards per country, other
than Australia, may be deemed to satisfy the award requirements for AAPS.
Applicants via the Panel System who wish to avail themselves of this opportunity should ensure that a copy
of Form APD2, listing the exhibition record, where applicable, of images forming part of their panel
submission, and verified by a Verifying Officer, is included with their application.
1.4 Images to be Distinctly Different - Images forming a submission must be distinctly different from each
other. Where the Panel Coordinator is of the opinion that 2 or more of the images in a submission are
essentially the same image, the submission may be rejected, even if the “deemed to satisfy” requirements
have been met. For this reason, all images in a panel submission will be submitted, irrespective of their
“deemed to satisfy” status. The Panel Coordinator will only present those images to be judged that have not
already been “deemed”.

twelve images listed in the application shall be assessed.
