STATISTICS
Statistics is the study of how to plan, collect, analyze, interpret, and present data. The
word 'statistic' is taken from Latin words “Statiscium Collegium” (state council) or from Italian
Statista (statesman). This means that from the very beginning, the data processing process of
an area was aimed entirely at the interests of the state and the people. The state always conducts
a census every year to obtain data. However, in later developments statistics experienced its
development so that it experienced a shift in meaning into the science of collecting and
classifying data not only in the scope of the state, but in various fields such as mathematics,
social, psychology and astronomy.
Statistics is one of the basic abilities that a data scientist must learn in addition to
programming, mathematics and management skills. This relatively new profession turned out
to be very much needed by the company. With statistics the company will be able to predict
many things in the future so that the company has a problem solving from large data as the
times change in this technological era. Statistics is a science that is difficult to learn. However,
statistics can provide convenience in various fields in daily life. For example, before we buy
an item, we usually compare the prices of an item we want to buy even by recording it on a
small note. That way, we become wiser and selective in terms of purchases so we can save
expenses.
Statistics can be used to make decisions about the selection of things, facilitate
understanding of data, and facilitate a study in various fields. Statistics allow researchers to
work sequentially from beginning to end. In statistics there are also ways to summarize
complex data into information that is easy to understand. Statistics also provides techniques for
comparing various things to analyze a phenomenon or phenomenon so that the symptoms are
easier to learn. Statistics can also help in wise decision making. Moreover, nowadays there are
many problems or events related to large data that require the ability of a statistician to handle
these cases. without human being aware that no matter how small the activities carried out that
they have used statistical knowledge including calculating monthly expenditure data, it is
easiest to see that statistics are used on state problems such as population census, election data
collection, employee salary data collection as well as non-company organizations they apply a
lot of statistics to employ things to achieve their goals.
