1. CHRONO standard
1.1. General characteristics
General 180° Tilt position (ventilation)
• The totally clampable CHRONO turn and tilt system is available

with visible hinges and with concealed hinges.
• The concealed hinges are available in two different versions:
- CHRONO INVISION: fully concealed clampable hinges, which 90° Turn position
can carry vent weights up to 170 kg. (cleaning)
- CHRONO INVISI: fully concealed screwed hinges, which can
carry vent weights up to 90 kg.
• All parts are made of non-corroding materials.
• CHRONO hardware is available to suit a frame groove of

Connection rods in synthetic material

• The system consists of 10 rods with different lengths,
made of a solid, non-absorbing, fibre-reinforced syn-
thetic material, which offers the following advantages:
- quick assembly by the special toothed connections.
- no rattling.
- no more time-consuming rod operations.
- inaccuracies while sawing and punching are eliminated.
- adjustment range of each rod is 50 mm.
- inaccuracies while manufacturing the window can be
overcome by the connection rods, which allow a maxi-
mum error margin of 8 mm in height (Fh) and 4 mm
in width (Fb).
- The rods in synthetic material incorporate locking points as standard which serve as an additional centre
locking point for wider and higher windows. Additional locking points on plates are no longer necessary.
Link arms
• For good stability and operation of the window there are, dependent
of the vent width, 3 sizes of link arms. The two biggest link arms are
provided with a pre-locking pull-in wedge to ease closing from the tilt
position.
• The link arm is provided with an anti slam shut device (click system)
to avoid unintended closing of the window in the tilt position.
• For assembly purposes the link arm is kept in the turn position by a snap-off pin until the first operation.
• A special self-drilling screw ensures solid and dimensionally accurate fixing of the link arm.
Corner transmissions
• The non-handed mishandling device is incorporated in the corner transmission (no
modification required for handing).
• Release of the mishandling device by a standard wedge which is positioned at the
same place for both left hand as well as right hand windows.
• The same wedge is also used for the locking point.
• The corner transmission is fixed with a clip.
• For assembly purposes the corner transmissions are provided with a snap-off pin
to position the bolt in turn position until the first operation.
Connection piece
• The connection piece in synthetic material is finally clipped in the groove over the
handle fork.
• The connection piece allows an error margin of 8 mm of incorrect positioning of the handle.
Run on rests
• Frame run-on wedge in synthetic material which is easily clipped into the frame groove. The wedge is kept
in position by the bolt wedge.
• Vent run-on rest in synthetic material which is easily clipped into the vent groove. A spring loaded clip
positions the bolt in turn position and avoids rattling of the bolt.

1.7. Narrow and small windows

CHRONO set for small windows
• This set can be used for turn-tilt windows, tilt-turn windows, turn windows as well as tilt windows with
vertically mounted handle. The set below is only available for CHRONO standard and CHRONO PLUS.
• Set n° 30000-702 contains a connection piece n° 30000-701 for standard handle.
• Size range: vent height Fh = 480-600 mm.
• Procedure:
- Determine rod lengths and cut off rods n° 30300-160.
- Drill hole ø6 mm in the rod.

CHRONO rod n° 30001-551 for narrow windows

• Cut-off rod in zinc alloy which is mounted between
the corner transmission and the link arm.
• For turn-tilt and tilt-turn windows:
- CHRONO standard: vent width 390-450 mm.
- CHRONO INVISION: vent width 400-460 mm.
- CHRONO INVISI: vent width 490-550 mm.
• Must be ordered separately.
Installation:
1. Corner transmission
- Disconnect (and break) the snap-off pin and pull out
the toothed part out all the way.
- Cut the toothed part at the indication groove.
- Position this piece again in accordance with the posi-
tion of the broken snap-off pin.
2. Rod n° 30001-551
- Cut the rod in accordance with the vent width at the
appropriate indication groove.
3. Link arm
- Remove (by using a tool) the connection piece of the
link arm.
- The rod 30001-551 is to be connected to the link arm
hole.
4. Connection
- Connect the 3 pieces to each other.

2. CHRONO PLUS
General
• The totally clampable CHRONO PLUS turn and tilt system is similar to
CHRONO standard, but is supplied with 2 security locking points on the
handle side. These are positioned at the corner transmission and tilt bolt.
These locking points provide an elementary security against burglary,
called ‘base security’.
• The security locking point consists of a mushroom head bolt in stainless
steel in combination with a special wedge in zinc alloy.
• The CHRONO hardware is available to suit a frame groove of 14/18 mm
or a frame groove of 10/14 mm.

3. CHRONO SAFE
General
• To make your windows extra secure against burglary, you should use the
high security system CHRONO SAFE.
• The CHRONO SAFE system is available to suit a frame groove of 14/18 mm
or a frame groove of 10/14 mm.
• Attention: the distance between frame and vent (gap D) must be at least
4 mm, but for vent weights up to 170 kg with visible CHRONO hinges this
distance has to be at least 5 mm.

Chrono Invision
High security parts
• The set contains the following high security parts:
- stainless steel mushroom head bolts, pre-riveted to aluminium connection pieces,
corner transmissions and tilt bolt which are connected to the CHRONO SAFE com-
ponents and rods in the vent section.
- brass security wedges which are fixed on the frame section with clamping plates
in stainless steel and self-drilling screws.
- zinc alloy anti-lift pieces and protection pieces which are fixed on the frame
section and the vent section with clamping plates in stainless steel and
self-drilling screws.
- special zinc alloy connection piece at the handle position.
- aluminium connection rods with special connections.
• The high security set should always be operated by a
cylinder locking handle, available in 4 types
(see page C.1.57).
• For windows with vent width Fb = 1401-1700 mm
you should consider the installation of the ad-
ditional arm n° 30340-560. The additional arm
provides greater stability, especially for wide and
heavy windows in tilt position. The additional arm
is non-handed.

• A turn-tilt window, installed with the high security set CHRONO SAFE has been tested by SKG (Stichting
Kwaliteitscentrum Gevelelementen) in the Netherlands. The window complied with the requirements of
burglary prevention class 2 in accordance with the NVN standards 5093 to 5096 dated June 2007 and
class 2 in accordance with the ENV standards 1627 to 1630 dated April 1999, for tests and assessment of
high security windows. The symbol is awarded to the set in accordance with the stars indication with
relation to the KOMO certificate of SKG (certificate in accordance with SKG - NEN 5089: September 2009).
• For CHRONO SAFE hardware with hook-in keeps, the keeps can be mounted after assembling the frame.
Keep is already attached to clamping plate with M5 screws.

must be used to reinforce the adjustable

• The M4x10 thread forming screws must fix

• The window stay restricts the opening angle of the window in turn position.
• The window stay is required in public buildings.
• The window stay should be used for safety purposes or where the opening arc may be obstructed.
• The position of the stay will dictate the opening angle of the window.

9. General information
• The turn-tilt systems CHRONO, CHRONO INVISION and CHRONO INVISI can be used within the Fh/Fb
sizes and weight limitations indicated on the charts.
The ratio of the dimensions Fb/Fh must not exceed the value of 1.5. For CHRONO and CHRONO INVISION
> 130 kg, the ratio of the dimensions Fb/Fh must not exceed the value of 1. The handle height should not
be less than 1/3 and not be more than 2/3 of the vent height. Technical advise should be sought when the
sizes of your windows are not shown in the chart.
• In schools and in other places where safety is important, we advise a window stay 35140-901, -902, -903
and a handle with cylinder.
• Alternatively install a CHRONO, CHRONO INVISION and CHRONO INVISI tilt-turn system with a turn lock
handle. The advantage of this system is that the locked handle can operate the window from closed posi-
tion to tilt position, for ventilation. The turn position can only be obtained by unlocking the handle.
• The window stay 35140-902 or -903 is required in public buildings if the vent width Fb is > 545 mm.
• For heavy, wide windows and especially for vents over 1401 mm wide an additional arm is recommended
for good stability of the window in the tilt position.
• The systems CHRONO and CHRONO INVISION are made of non-corroding materials, the set should not be
installed in corrosive atmospheres.
• Sobinco cannot be held responsible for the malfunctioning of the CHRONO, CHRONO INVISION and
CHRONO INVISI system if any non-Sobinco parts are used.
• All parts must be assembled according to the instructions as described in previous pages.
• Surface treatment of vent and frame must take place before assembly of the set to avoid affecting the
operation of the gear. If this is not the case, this may lead to the malfunctioning of the hardware and the
warranty will dispose.
• Glazing must be in accordance with national standards.
• The window and gear should be kept clean and lubricated in accordance with our maintenance instructions
(copy available on request).
