problems and customer demands. The existence of a project manager keeps the focus on
the product or service that is being provided.
3. What would be the leadership style, member behaviors and organizational culture that
can be applied in this type of structural model?
Leadership style
- Without authority across horizontal dimension means there is a shift in thinking and behavior
- Stressing the importance of the project and benefits that it will bring when successfully
completed
Member Behaviors
Do not assume that having multiple bosses is necessarily a bad thing! Yes, there
are more opportunities for role overload and role conflict, but there are also more chances
of learning from several senior people. This may turn out to be a great learning
experience.
When you have multiple bosses, you will need to manage good relations with
each of them. You need to understand the styles of each manager and vary your style
with each. Some may appreciate frequent updates on all you are doing, while others may
judge you based solely on ultimate results. Make an effort to understand their styles and
do not assume that something that works with one will work with the other.
Organizational Culture
Egalitarian Culture
- Requires more loyalty to projects than people and not positions in the organization
