OIL REFINERIES DENOUNCE THE PRESENCE OF 30 CONTAINERS OF "IMPROPER" VEGETABLE OIL AT DOUALA PORT
(BUSINESSINCAMEROON.COM)
According to the Association of Oil Refineries of Cameroon
(ASROC), about thirty containers stuffed full of vegetable
oils which do not comply with the currently valid standards
in Cameroon have been stationed in the Douala Port since
August 2015. ASROC mostly fears that these vegetable oils
will be sold on the local market. Indeed, we learned, the
company African Food, who imported these products, and
its bankers, Bicec, have just petitioned the Cameroonian
government to get a special approval to sell these oils. This
because since June 2015, a government decision has pres-
cribed, among other requirements, the respect of the natio-
nal standard adopted for all oils sold in Cameroon. Standard
which is not respected by the above-mentioned cargo.
