Grammatical Sentence Errors

Comma Splice

1. There’s a berserk gorilla at the front door, don’t let him in.
2. I called John, he didn’t know rehearsal had been cancelled.

Quotation Error

1. “We bake all our own pies said the waitress”.


2. The waitress said we bake all our own pies.
3. This is going to be hard to explain sighed Colleen.

Subject-Verb Agreement

The following pronouns are singular: anybody, anyone, anything, each, either, everybody, everyone,
everything, neither, nobody, no one, nothing, one, somebody, someone, and something.

The following pronouns are plural: both, few, many, several.

1. Nobody on our street (throw)(throws) a better fastball than Jim.


2. Many of her jazz lay outs (is)(are) fully extended.
3. Not Nora’s nor Jana’s effort (is)(are) wasted.
4. Some of our tomatoes (is)(are) prize winners!
5. At least one out of 30 of us (forgets)(forget) to come to class on time.

Run-On

1. American students are gradually being taught the metric system then in a few years it will be adopted
officially.
2. Someday you will learn about global warming then it will all make sense.
3. Jane and I went to the mall we were shopping for shoes later we had some pizza at the food court.

Fragment
