Course Syllabus
Textbook
The textbook will be provided to you and is the Pearson Integrated Mathematics I. The textbook can be left at home and referenced
when necessary, but does not need to come back and forth to class unless otherwise instructed.
Course Description
This course will integrate a variety of topics and help you learn how to use algebra, geometry, and data analysis to solve problems. Each
lesson builds on what you have already learned. As you participate in classroom activities, use the workbook, MathXL, and spend extra
time reviewing work, you will see more critical thinking activities in class that include writing your ideas in words, presenting strategies to
partners or the class, and analyzing each other’s solutions for logical accuracy. You will also master important concepts that will prepare
you for the Smarter Balanced Test (SBAC) and your future Mathematics courses. Throughout each unit, we will be completing tasks that
will connect the material learned in class to real-life applications. Students are invited, encouraged, and expected to take responsibility
for their active learning.
Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is to assist students in thinking critically and being able to problem solve when problems arise. The
Mathematics portion of this class should lend itself to life outside of the classroom and provide students with the means to think deeply
about a problem and work through it. Students will be held accountable for the work that is assigned and are responsible for
understanding the material. The students will also be responsible for problem solving tasks, as they relate to real-life situations. The
objective of the course is for the students to come to understand how algebra, geometry and data analysis come together to solve
problems, while learning how to think critically to inspire thoughtful, well-rounded young adults.
Grading
Grading Scale Weighted Scale
90% - 100% A Participation / Warm-Ups 20%
80% - 89% B Classwork / Homework 20%
70% - 79% C Projects / Collaborations 15%
60% - 69% D Quizzes 15%

● Participation consists of being in class and participate in class discussions. Class discussions will be done both verbally and in
writing. Students cannot receive participation if they are not in class.
● Warm-Ups are done daily, with the exception of Mondays and test days. Students are required to enter the room and begin
their warm-up immediately. Students will be graded by their EFFORT on the warm-up.
● All work is classwork for this class. No homework will be assigned. However, any work that is not completed in class becomes
homework. The majority of the homework is to be completed on MathXL, which is an online program. Students must fix
mistakes and receive a score of 100% in order to receive credit. Students get unlimited number of attempts and can complete
these tasks from home if more time is needed.
● Projects, Collaborations, Tests, and Quizzes are the ways student learning will be assessed. These assessments are graded
based on accuracy and completeness.

Google Classroom to access all of their assignments. This includes their warm-ups, notes, MathXL assignments, instructions for
completing their projects and collaborations, and links to access their tests and quizzes.
Students are expected to adhere to the district-wide rules and regulations for Internet and technology use. Students are expected to
follow all rules, as signed prior to registration.
Students will utilize Google Classroom for assignments and tasks. Students will utilize Remind for receiving messages regarding important
class updates and announcements. Students will utilize Desmos for difficult calculations and graphing. Students will utilize MathXL for
completing daily classwork and homework assignments, as well as most assessments. Lastly, students will utilize Aeries to access their
grades and progress in the class.
Students may retake any test as many times as they need to. If a student does not perform well on a test, for any reason, the student
