Section A

1. Argue a case for the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice as the final court of appeal
for Commonwealth Caribbean countries.

2. Examine and discuss the different ways in which laws can be made.

Section B

3. Examine and discuss the pros and cons of a bicameral parliamentary system.

4. Examine and discuss the main theories of Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau on the state of nature
and the civil state.

Section C

5. Describe the two main branches of economics and outline how the four central concerns of
economists are addressed under these two branches of economics.

6. Identify the main characteristics of a plantation economy and discuss the plantation economy
model.

Section D

7. Explain what is meant by ‘cultural diversity’. Outline the historical and contemporary factors that
have contributed to the cultural diversity in Caribbean society.

8. Define what is meant by a social problem. Identify any TWO social problems facing a named
Caribbean society. For each problem identified, state its impact on the society concerned and
critically evaluate the current measures being implemented to alleviate it.
