SANTRI READINESS IN FACING THE GLOBAL CRISIS

Assalamualaikum wr wb

First of all let us give thanks to God who has created the universe and everything in it and
preserve creation, give us grace, favor and health.
Then let us send blessing and salutation upon the most honorable prophed and
messenger awarded to our master Prophet Muhammad SAW who has brought mankind
from the dark ages to the era of light, as we feel nowadays by saying:
Allahumma sholli ‘ala sayyidina muhammad, wa’ala ali sayyidina muhammad.

My Proudly Brother and Sister!

On this occasion, I will talk about "SANTRI READINESS FACING GLOBAL
CRISIS".

Allah SWT says:

"And Ibrahim bequeath (saying) that the child - his son, as well as Ya’kub. Oh son -
my son! Indeed Allah has chosen this religion for you so do not be die except in a state of
Islam. "

Ladies and Gentlemen

Nowadays our world is in globalization era. We often hear it. However, what is
globalization? Globalization is the process of transformation of local or regional phenomena
into global or international phenomena. This process includes transformation of
economic, technological, socio-cultural and political forces. In other words, every country in
this world can influence other countries. Because of globalization, this world which consists
of many countries is like “a global village”. This term refers to the fact that people are
considered to live in this planet without borders dan without limitation. People are able to
access any kinds of information easily. There is no difficulty to communicate and there is no
barrier to interact with other people from all over the world.
Globalization has various aspects which affect the world, such as: in industry,
finance, economy, politics, technology, and socio-culture. If our country wants to survive in
this globalization era, we must be smart. We should take all of the positive effects of
globalization but not the negative ones. For example: we need to adopt and learn high
technology from developed country in order to develop our country. On the contrary, we
must not imitate bad attitudes or behaviors from other countries like free sex and drugs
abuse.
It is a fact that there are many challenges in globalization era. It cannot be denied
that globalization is related with a competition and ability to survive. The question is, what
should we do in order to face the globalization era? The first one is, build up and
strengthen good characters based on the religion. If we are Moslem, the guide of our lives
is Islam. Second, we must master technology in order to develop our country. The last,
always be ready to face any kinds of change and competition by preparing and upgrading
our skills.

Ladies and Gentlemen

The effect globalization is like two sides of a coin which is never be separated.
Globalization not always brings some benefits. The fact, if we are not strong enough to filter
the effect of globalization, our local identity will vanish from the world. We as
young generation of this country should take this matter seriously. With conserving our
traditional cultures and doing good deeds as they was taught by our religion, we can stand
still and survive as a country which never lose the local identity because of globalization.
That’s all my speech. Hopefully, it will be useful for all of us.
Globalization has brought huge impact for people especially Muslims. He has
influenced the culture of Islam, to destroy noble values of Islam, to change the way of life,
way of life and mindset of a Muslim. Nowaday, a few young people are plagued by
problems. Such as promiscuity, imagine 36% of Indonesia's young generation done
intercourse outside of marriage, 650,000 of them were teenagers in Jakarta, as reported by
TV ONE, then people living with HIV / AIDS is increasing in this country.

Indeed, this challenge is not easy. We are on the doorstep of the end times in which
everything that has been in utterance Prophet SAW regarding end-time condition has
occurred, even as we seen every day, many people who have left Islam and replace it with
modern doctrines that eventually destroy life them, murder, rape, adultery, though - be
normal due to uncontrolled lust. This is in accordance with the word of the prophet
Muhammad:
"We have returned from the little war towards the great war. Companions asked:
what is the Great War Messenger of Allah? Prophet replied: fighting lust”
Most people assume that science and technology can solve the current problems.
When in fact they had run out of light - daylight to darkness which had left Islam.

Well, how do we as students face this global crisis?

There are some things that we must do:

1. Strengthening the belief / faith.

The war we are facing today is an ideological war. We do not think the people
who hate us Muslims to fight us with guns, destroying mosques, tear down and
disperse assemblies’ boarding school study groups.
Keep enough by destroying generations of Muslims and changed their mindset
that they think like Westerners, live like western people, even as the West associate
regardless of the teachings of Islam.
 Believe me, my brother we would not be safe and happy before the underlying
life with Islam because Islam is the only true religion, the supreme god. Therefore, let
us together strengthen belief in Allah by diligently studying science - the science of
Islamic religion.

2. Selecting foreign culture into our country.

Indeed, globalization cannot be dammed, he came like water flowing. If have
a strong belief that we will easily select the incoming culture means pick and choose
which things are according to the teachings of Islam and that does not good.
Therefore, we must be prepared for rapid global flow is to strengthen faith and
filter every incoming values and culture. Since the Islam is a visionary, not looking for
enemies but abstinence when meeting the enemy.

And the last, what can I say is thank you for your attention.
