This achievement had been only feasible with the help of the loving people that surround

the researchers. Therefore, the researchers wanted to acknowledge these people.

Abstract

This study titled “The Effects of Sleep Deprivation to the Social Life of the Grade 9-10

Students of Liceo de Cabuyao S.Y.2017-2018.” sought to answer the following: What are the

effects of sleep deprivation to one’s social life? What happens to the communication skills of a

person when deprived of sleep? How does a sleep deprived person respond to or approach his/her

social life?

The respondents of the study were 80 students out of 332. We only chose ten randomly

selected students by using the systematic random sampling per section (8): Grade 9-St. Albert the

Great, Grade 9-St. Joseph the Worker, Grade 9-St. Paul the Apostle, Grade 9-St. Lorenzo Ruiz,

Grade 10-St. Polycarp, Grade 10-St. Januarius, Grade 10-St. John Paul II, and Grade 10-St. Padre

Pio of Liceo de Cabuyao. The following statistical tools used in the study were relative frequency,

percentage and weighted mean. Descriptive method of research was used in the study and the

checklist rating scale was the primary instrument to gather the data of the research.

The findings of the study shows that out of 80 respondents from the Grade 9-10

students of Liceo de Cabuyao S.Y. 2017-2018, only 27.5% of them are not sleep deprived. It also

shows that sleep deprivation has negative effects to the social lives of the people involved with

their communication skills being at stake. The research reveals that sleep deprived people tend to

sacrifice socializing to sleep instead. It is proven that sleep deprivation has effects to the social

lives of the people involved, therefore, the null hypothesis is accepted.
