Before discussion of Chapter 1 I thought the nature of self and discovering the self is searching

of our own self happiness and contentment towards to our surroundings. Finding uniqueness of
ourselves through wisdoms and our actions. That in every aspects of struggles we find ways to
conquer and gain knowledge of what we really are, and what are we capable of. Limiting the
inner self, peace and even emotional and mental stability.

After that discussion Self-knowledge identifies what we know about ourselves. It is with self-
knowledge we can understand our principles, values, and our purpose and are able to apply it to
our lives. With self-knowledge we can understand our strengths to build upon, as well as
identify areas where we would like to make improvements. And nature itself diverse as Self-
awareness, consciousness, identity, self esteem, self concept or ego.Discovering the Self ,
Getting to know The Self is into four Quadrants. The Arena which also known as public self
trait or description that sees in the self, Façade another trait in self that considers emotional also
known as ‘hidden’ a quadrant that covers that desire not to expose to others. Blind Spot
possessed the subject characterizes the subject such in being down to earth and soft spoken
.Unknown quadrant a trait that is mystery or not recognizing and comprising the traits of the
subject and idea of there’s much needs to be discovered in the self. That requires a deeper
understanding of the self to gain happiness and contentment and also fulfillment in life.

I realized Knowing the self will experience you the mistakes and the realization of ourselves to
become better or in a unique way of form. Improvement the self by interaction towards one
another of how you can get along. And will gain you wisdom in gaining our identity.
Before the discussion of chapter 2 I thought Based on the philosophers self reflection and what
they’ve been through in life that made their own remarkable self, at first I thought of what they
did and their ideas/view in discovering themselves. How they manage to be knowledgeable of
their own reflection in life.

After the discussion these philosophers has its contribution to the philosophy and views about
discovering the inner self and knowing the self , Example of the three philosopher were my
favourites in their views: First is Socrates a classical Greek philosopher that introduced the
Socratic problem and Socratic method, The goal is to “know thyself” that one knows nothing and
accept that he knows nothing as this leads to learning and discovering the truth. “ an unexamined
life is not worth living.” That one has to self –examine and discuss the self to achieve the
greatest good to a life. Second is Saint Augustine Pointed out that sin as the source of human
unhappiness as sin impairs human free will. Which I totally agree because of a man’s
Consciousness. He also comprised of self presentation that leads to self-realization. Reiterated
that one transforms as he struggles in both body and soul to achieve ultimate happiness is
founded in God’s love. Understanding of the self and the formation of identity is achieved
through the process of self-analysis. Lastly is Sigmund Freud stated the three components which
are id, ego and superego founded in unconscious. That id and superego are in conflict about the
difference of desire and ego is the self which maintaining the balance.

I realized that these philosophers may have experience life that teaches us that we will walk
through that path, and will become more wiser in the journey. And every step in the way it will
teach us the contentment for what we have.
Before the discussion of Chapter 3 I thought of Religions around the world, Beliefs of their inner
self happiness and enlightenment through their Gods. Pertaining to what idea of the self and how
to achieve their goal in the life. Sharing their cultured manner of their beliefs, religion and
traditions. And the story and power of the Gods. Of how they manifest to its people.

After the discussion Buddhism Siddharta Buddha developed a doctrine called anatta, defined as
“no-self” that nothing is permanent and no one is independent entity as we are all part of a
collective whole. And tackled Hinduism which the true nature of man is described as “brahman”
means ‘the self.’ Involves Reincarnation where a soul passes through different physical bodies,
accordance with Karma. Taoism in the philosophy of Lao Tzu says that ‘Knowing other is
wisdom. Knowing the self is enlightment’, And teaches ‘stillnes to the mind’ Which Lao Tzu
said “empty yourself of everything, let your mind become still.” Confucianism, Identifies
personality as a product of one’s upbringing and environment. Which make us ‘Social Animal’.
In the doctrine of he made us believed each person is born with four beginnings leading to a
formation self which are: Heart of compassion, righteousness, propriety and wisdom.

I realized Just like the philosophers views about the self and these religions had only taught me
one thing believed for what you believe, And Love God with all your heart. They have this belief
of improving their inner self just like us for what we believed.

Don’t Rely On Other People to Make You Happy.

Relying on other people to make you happy will leave you endlessly
disappointed. The reason most people feel unhappy in their lives is they
expect other people to give them things that they can only give themselves.
Think about it- if you continually outsource the task of filling a void and
finding happiness, you will never be fully satisfied, instead you’ll be at the
mercy of everyone you meet.
Only you can control how happy you are and how you feel about yourself.
Stop blaming people for “making” you feel a certain way. Put yourself in
the driver’s seat and accept responsibility for your own happiness and your
sense of self-worth.
