LEARNING PLAN

Science 5
First Quarter A.Y. 2017 - 2018

Date: July 3 - 6, 2017


Time Frame: (240 minutes/4 meetings)
I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, student is expected to:
1. identify 5R’s technique,
COGNITIVE 2. classify materials according to their properties,
3. Identify different waste management techniques,
4. differentiate physical properties from chemical properties;
AFFECTIVE recognize the importance of recycle, reduce, reuse, recover and repair in waste
management; and
PSYCHOMOTOR group material according to their properties.

B.Waste Management and Practicing 5R’s

III. VALUES INTEGRATION:


SERVICE and ACCOUNTABILITY.
Be a responsible stewards of nature by engaging the students in activities that promotes conservation
and protection of the environment.

IV. READING INTEGRATION:


Textbook: Lumbre, Ma. Concepcion.et.al. 2014.SCIENCE in Our World. Vibal Group Inc.
Pages: 13-17

V. MATERIALS:
Pictures of different materials, manila paper, envelope, scotch tape, marker, plastic bag, eco bag, paper
bag whiteboard, white board marker

VI. MOTIVATIONAL BEGINNING:


Gallery walk: Divide the class into 4 groups, then give each group 5 brown envelopes containing
pictures of different materials, manila paper, marker, and scotch tape. Given 3 minutes, each group will
identify the properties of each materials. After 3 minutes, their manila paper will be posted on the wall. 2-3
representatives will explain their work using 5 sentences.

VII. LESSON PROPER:


1. Daily Routine:
 Checking of attendance
 Cleanliness of the room

Day 1 Monday: Special Properties


1.The objectives for the day will be given.
2.Motivational activity will be given. They will be given 3 minutes to work with their group. After that
they will post their work on the wall.
3.After the motivational activity, ask each group how they classify each materials.
4.Then, connect the lesson from last week to the previous lesson since it is the continuation of the
discussion.
5.Discuss the different properties of materials.
6.Ask students to read aloud the meaning of different properties. Then ask the students to give their
insights and examples.
7.Then, the teacher will explain further examples.
8.Let the students differentiate physical properties from chemical properties using Venn diagram.
9.Ask for clarifications or questions from the students by using thumbs down- thumbs up.
10. Ask students to take down notes.

Day 2: Tuesday: Summative Test in Science
The students will have their first summative test (30 items).

Day 3: Wednesday (Waste Management and Practicing 5R’s)


1. Checking of Seatwork and assignment.
2. The students will recall the meaning of 4R’s technique they have learned during grade 4.
3. Call students to give their explanations on the different techniques.
4. Ask students to give examples.
5. Then, introduce the next technique which is “repair.”
6. Let the students read aloud the meaning of 5R’s.
7. Discuss what 5R’s stands for.
8. Then, give further explanations.

Day 5: Thursday
1.Checking of Summative Test in Science.
2.The students will be called one by one to read the questions and then give their answers for each items.
3.Recording of scores will take afterwards, after that the teacher will sign their diaries.

Formative Assessment:
Seatwork: Let the students answer page 17. Quick Quiz.

B. Collaboration:
Groupings: The student will group the pictures of materials according to their properties. Then the student
will have a gallery walk to present their output.

IX. SYNTHESIS:
1. Let the students look at the graphic organizer about the lesson on page 26. Discuss the connection
of the organizer to the topic.
2. Show plastic bag, paper bag and cloth bag (eco bag).
3. Then ask the students, if you will use one of these in carrying the things you brought, which do you
prefer? Why?
4. What is your basis in choosing that material?

X. ASSIGNMENT:
Answer page 15. MORE TO DO A and B.
