A. KOMPETENSI INTI

C. TUJUAN PEMBELAJARAN
Melalui pendekatan saintifik dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis teks, peserta didik
terampil membedakan fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan, serta mahir menangkap
makna dan menyusun teks khusus dalam bentuk teks caption terkait gambar/foto/tabel/
grafik/bagan secara benar dan sesuai konteks serta memiliki sikap disiplin, kreatif, mandiri,
bekerja sama dan tanggung jawab.

CAPTION TEXT

❖ Definition
Caption is brief description, heading, or tittle that identifies or introduces a document,
graphic, photograph or table.

❖ Social Function
✓ To explain or elaborate on published photograph, by describing the photograph, giving
context, or relating it to the article
✓ The social functions of captions can be a message that someone wants to send to the
readers or viewers what is happening in the photograph, to show how someone’s feel and
for bussiness purposes.
✓ Helping the readers or viewer to understand information that may not be in a photo or a
video

• Use of Grammatically complete sentences: Subject – Verb - Object/Complement -

1. Supply specific information (Answering 5W1H Question)
2. User present tense on the first sentence
3. Caption are written in complete sentences
4. Clearly identify the people and location in the photo
5. Identify the person from left to right

❖ How to write a caption text


a. Observe the picture or video you will give the caption
b. Find out the message that will be sent from the picture before you write caption
c. Write sentence or phrase under the picture

❖ Kinds of Caption in Media Now


1. Identification bar
✓ This type of caption only quotes who is in the picture
2. Cutline
✓ This type of caption mentions who is draw and what it does.
3. Summary
✓ Contains a complete description of who was drawn, what was done, when it happened,
where it happened, and why it was done.
4. Expanded
✓ More complete form of summary, this type of caption also contains how it happened and
quotes
5. Quote
✓ Contains quotes from the words of someone related to the picture
6. Group identification:
✓ As with identification, only this type is used if the image contains more than one person
