Most questions are multiple choice - use a blue or black pen to draw a circle around the letter, A
or B or C or D, which gives the correct or best answer to each question. Multiple choice questions
each carry 1 point.

(MP), and last, the Low Power (LP).
B. Always focus first with the LP lens, followed by the MP lens and last, the HP lens.
C. Students should be careful to touch the glass lens with their fingers.
B. Cancer tumours an only grow on the skin, in the lungs, in the prostate glands of men or the
breasts of women.
C. Cancerous tumours consist of cells all which are all have different DNA.
D. Cancer usually results from lack of control by ciclins during repeated cell cycles.
A10. Skin cancer may be caused by exposure to ultra-violet (UV) radiation from the sun. Which
statement about UV light is correct?
C. UV light is visible to humans but we often cannot see it because it is absorbed by clouds in the
atmosphere.

(3 points) D
Method
1. The student put masses on the sledge and pulled it gently with a Newton meter, to measure
the force needed until it just started to move. (Force is measured in units called Newtons
or N.)
2. The student recorded the force shown by the Newton meter which was needed to move the
sledge.
3. Extra masses were then added to the sledge to make it heavier.
4. The student recorded the force needed to move the heavier sledge.
5. This was repeated a total of 5 times.
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER
1. Use the graph grid to draw a graph of the results, plotting MASS in grams against
FORCE in Newtons. (Decide what sort of graph is best and then decide whether mass or
force should be plotted on the ‘y’ or ‘x’ axes.)
(4 points)
2. Study the results of the investigation and your graph, and then write a conclusion in the
space beneath the graph.
