Jurnal dan Pemanfaatannya untuk Penilaian Autentik pada Siswa Kelas IXB SMP
Negeri 1 Nawangan, Kabupaten Pacitan
Abstrak
Secara umum tujuan penelitian ini adalah mcndapatkan kajian tentang upaya
meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf siswa Kelas IXB, SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan.
Melalui kegiatan menulis jurnal dan pemanfaatannva untuk penilaian autentik. Tujuan
penelitian secara khusus sebagai berikut: (1) mendapatkan kajian tentang upaya
meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf siswa Kelas IXB SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan
melalui tindakan pemahaman konsep dan pemodelan. (2) mendapatkan kajian tentang upaya
meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf siswa Kelas IXB SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan,
melalui tindakan pelaksanaan dan pembiasaan menulis jurnal dalam pembelajaran dan (3)
mendapatkan kajian tentang upaya meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf siswa Kelas
IXB SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan, melalui tindakan penilaian autentik dengan memanfaatkan
tulisan-tulisan dalam jurnal siswa.
PENDAHULUAN
METODE PENELITIAN
Sejalan dengan pemfokusan dan latar alaminya yang berwujud aktivitas di dalam
kelas, rancangan penelitian tindakan yang diterapkan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas
(classroom action reserch).
Berdasarkan pendekatan dan rancangan PTK yang akan diterapkan prosedur dan
langkah-langkah penelitian ini mengikuti prinsip-prinsip dasar penelitian tindakan dan model
rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas yang akan digunakan adalah model spirail-bersiklus
sebagaimana dikemukakan Lewin dan dikembangkan oleh kemmis dan Elliot (Elliot,
1991:71). Secara umum model siklus ini meliputi (1) perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan tindakan,
(3) pengamatan, (4) analisis dan refleksi.
HASIL PEMBAHASAN
Pelaksanaan setiap siklus terdiri atas tiga tindakan pokok. Adapun ketiga tindakan
pokok tersebut adalah (1 ) pemahaman dan pemodelan. (2) Pelaksanaan dan pembiasaan
kegiatan menulis jurnal, dan (3} pelaksanaan penilaian autentik melalui jurnal. Dalam tiap
siklus tindakan pertama dilaksanakan dengan alokasi waktu dua kali pertemuan jam
pelajaran. Tindakan kedua dilakukan terinteigrasi dalam tiap jam pelajaran bahasa Indonesia
selama empat kali pertemuan, guru menyediakan waktu sepuluh sampai dengan lima belas
menit di menit awal atau di akhir pelajaran untuk menulis. Materi tulisan jurnal disesuaikan
dengan konteks materi pembelajaran saat itu. Tindakan ketiga selain dilakukan secara
bersinambungan oleh yang, dilakukan pula oleh siswa sekitar dua puluh menit pada waktu
yang ditentukan. Setiap siklus siswa menulis jurnal sebanvak lima kali.
Pada siklus I kegiatan yang dilakukan pada tahap ini ada 6 langkah pokok, keenam
langkah pokok itu adalah ( 1 ) menyediakan waktu di awal pembelajaran untuk menulis, (2)
meminta siswa menulis secara bebas tentang gagasan. Perasaan, atau berbagai hal yang
dialaminya, (3) membantu memunculkan gagasan siswa melalui kegitan tanya jawab, (4)
memantau dan membimbing siswa saat menulis. (5) memberi penguatan tiap kali perternuan,
dan (6) mengumpulkan kembali buku jurnal yang telah ditulis untuk diberi respon.
SIMPULAN
Improving Paragraph Writing Skills through the application of Journal Writing Activities and
Their Utilization for Authentic Assessment of Class IXB Students of SMP Negeri 1
Nawangan, Pacitan Regency
Abstract
In general, the purpose of this research is to obtain a study of efforts to improve paragraph
writing skills of Class IXB students, SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan. Through journal writing
activities and their use for authentic assessment. Specific research objectives are as follows:
(1) obtain a study of efforts to improve paragraph writing skills of Class IXB students of
SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan through the act of understanding concepts and modeling. (2) get a
study on efforts to improve paragraph writing skills of Class IXB students of SMP Negeri 1
Nawangan, through the act of implementing and habitualizing journal writing in learning and
(3) getting studies on efforts to improve paragraph writing skills of grade IXB students of
SMP Negeri 1 Nawangan, through actions authentic assessment by utilizing writings in
student journals.
PRELIMINARY
RESEARCH METHODS
The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach, the use of this qualitative
approach is based on the idea that, this study seeks to reveal various symptoms that provide
meaning and information in accordance with the context and objectives of the research
through data collection.
In line with focusing and its natural background in the form of activities in the classroom, the
action research design applied is classroom action research.
Based on the CAR approach and design that will be applied the procedures and steps of this
study following the basic principles of action research and the class action research design
model to be used is the spirail-cyclic model as proposed by Lewin and developed by Kemmis
and Elliot (Elliot, 1991: 71). In general, this cycle model includes (1) planning, (2)
implementing actions, (3) observation, (4) analysis and reflection.
DISCUSSION RESULT
The implementation of each cycle consists of three main actions. The three main actions are
(1) understanding and modeling. (2) The implementation and customization of journal
writing activities, and (3} the implementation of authentic assessment through journals.In
each cycle the first action is carried out with a time allocation of two class time meetings.The
second action is carried out immigrated in each class of Indonesian lessons for four meetings,
the teacher provides ten to fifteen minutes at the beginning or at the end of the lesson to write
the journal writing material adapted to the context of the learning material at the time.The
third action besides being carried out continuously by the student, is also carried out by about
twenty minutes at the time Each cycle students write a journal five times.
In cycle I the activities carried out at this stage were 6 main steps, the six main steps were (1)
providing time at the beginning of learning to write, (2) asking students to write freely about
ideas. Feelings, or various things that they experience, (3) help bring up students' ideas
through the activity of question and answer, (4) monitor and guide students when writing. (5)
giving reinforcement every time I ask, and (6) collecting back journal books that have been
written to be responded.
CONCLUSION
One of the problems faced in learning Indonesian in school is the lack of student paragraph
writing skills, it can be seen from the poor quality of the paragraphs produced by students,
students are also less enthusiastic and have difficulty when getting assignments to write. This
is indicated because learning to write does not encourage and shape the habits of students to
write. Writing learning presented has not provided many opportunities for students to write.
On the other hand, the assessment of writing skills has also not been carried out
comprehensively and continuously to overcome these problems; one alternative action that
can be applied is the application of journal writing and utilization
