1.3 DESIGN CRITERIA


.1 Maximum deflection due to wind loading of 1.2kPa must not exceed 1/175 of the doors
span.

1.4 SHOP DRAWINGS


.1 Submit shop drawings in accordance to the General Conditions.

.2 Shop drawings must clearly indicate each door type, materials, sizes and attributes.
Indicate door skin and reinforcement materials types, gauge. Indicate glass kits
dimensions as well as visible glass dimensions in accordance with Door Elevations. The
Door supplier is to provide maximum glass size in all vertical, horizontal dimensions as
well as exposed glass area dimensions. Glass is to be supplied by this section.

.3 Shop drawing shall indicate and cross reference the Door Schedule’s Architectural Door
# as well as its’ respective hardware Group.

.4 Upon request, submit all testing criteria and technical data as pertaining to Installation of
the products.

.1 Submit samples upon request and in accordance with the General Conditions

1.6 REQUIREMENTS

.1 Doors are to be supplied with Fire Rating where required.


Fire Rating certification as per NFPA 252 and CAN4-S104M. In addition, products to be
supplied with the certified labelling authority;, ULC or WHI. In addition, the Manufacturer
and or Door Distributor must be a member of an In Shop Fire Labeling Program.

.2 Frames (Where applicable) are to be supplied where required and with Fire Rating if
required.
Fire Rating certification as per NFPA 252 and CAN4-S104M or ASTM E152. In addition,
the Manufacturer and or Door Distributor must be a member of an In Shop Fire Labeling
Program governed by ULC or WHI.

Partie 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MATERIALS
.1 Galvanized steel by immersion as per ASTM A653M, with ZF25 minimum zinc thickness.
Minimum steel thickness of 1.2mm and as per CSDMA, Tableau 1 - Thickness for
Component Parts. – See Door Schedule with Project Documents.

.2 All re-inforcing components to CSA G40.20/G40.21 with ZF25 minimum zinc thickness
as per ASTM A653M.

2.2 Door Core


.1 HoneyComb – Interior Doors - 1.2mm

.1 Core Type * HoneyComb with maximum cell size of 24.5 mm manufactured from
Kraft paper, Maximum Density of 36.3 kg per 16.5kg volume. .
Re-inforced – Exterior Doors – 1.6mm

Face sheets vertically stiffened with laminated stiffeners at 150mm C/C

.2 Polyisocyanurate Core : Rigid panels of modified polyisocyanurate modified


inserted between stiffeners with Volume density of 32kg/cubic meter and a per
CGSB 51-GP-21M,

2.3 ADHESIVES
.1 Polyisocyanurate Cores: Thermoresistant contact glue, Epoxy Resin based with low
viscosité.

.2 HoneyComb Cores : Fire resistant adhesive and polychloroprene sealant incorporating


high viscosity resins.

2.4 TOUCH-UP PRIMER


.1 Touch up primers to CAN/CGSB-1.181 for galvanized products.

2.5 FINISH PAINTING


.1 All new galvanized doors and existing frames are to be field painted the General
Contractor. Finish paint color to be coordinated with Architect/Owner. All door hardware,
sill and weather-stripping to be protected from finish paint. All door surfaces to be
sanded smooth and without imperfections prior to finish paint being applied.

2.6 ACCESSORIES
.1 Door Frame Silencers: Grey Neoprene – Push-in-Install silencers where missing in
existing frames.

.2 Automatic Door bottoms: See Door Schedule

.3 Metallic Paste Filler: As per Manufacturers recommendations.

.4 Fire Labels: To be riveted to door edges and visible

.5 Sealants: To 07 92 10 and where required between threshold and concrete curbs.

2.7 DOOR FABRICATION - GENERAL


.1 All doors are to be swing type, flush and complete with glass kits where indicated. See
Door elevations. The Door supplier is to supply and install all necessary glass and
glazing into the doors.

.2 Exterior doors are to be laminated steel stiffened and insulated. Interior doors are to be
HoneyComb core doors.

.3 Longitudinal edges of ALL doors are to be tack welded at 254mm on Center. All welds
are to be ground smooth and primed prior to shipping products. All lock seam edges to
remain exposed. Where necessary, use a metalic paste filler to correct any surface
damages prior to shipping to site. Grind, patch and sand rough surfaces and edges for
finish paint on site.

.4 All doors to factory machined for finish hardware, glass kits and ready to receive glass
on site.

.5 All holes larger than 12.7 mm in diameter must drilled at the Distributors/
Manufacturer``s Facilities; unless for through bolting reasons.

.6 All Doors must be re-inforced for Hardware.All exterior doors must be provided with a
metallic drip cap tack welded into the top channel of the door. The lower channel on the
doors must be prepared to receive automatic door bottoms where scheduled in the
Hardware Schedule.

.7 All Hollow Metal Doors requiring a Fire Rating must be appropriated with the respective
Fire Label indicating degree of fire resistance and according to CAN4-S104, ASTM E152
ou NFPA 252, and governed by ULC or WHI. Coordinate degree of fire resistance
requirements with the Door Schedule.

Partie 3 EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION - GENERAL


.1 Unless otherwise directed, install all Doors complete with Fire labels where required and
in accordance with NFPA-80.

.2 All Doors to be installed in accordance to CSDMA.

3.2 DOOR INSTALLATION


.1 Install Doors and finish hardware using Manufacturer`s written installation instructions
and installation templates. Coordinate hardware requirements with Section 08 71 10

.2 When installing, adjusting and fitting the Hollow Metal Doors, provide a uniform gap
between door and frame at the head and jambs of the openings as per following:

.1 Hinge Side : 1.0 mm.


.2 Head and Strike Jamb: 1.5 mm.
.3 Door Undercut: 13 mm.

3.3 TOUCH-UPS
.1 Once installation is complete, touch-up with primer and/or finish paint where necessary,

.2 Any and all visible scratches or imperfections that appear on the door surfaces are to be
filled with metallic paste filler. Let dry, grind/sand prime and finish paint until surfaces are
smooth and uniform condition.
