The Business:

According to Online Gaming 2010, the average number of hours spent each week on
online gaming has increased 10 percent since 2009. The average number of hours spent per week
on online gaming has gone up from 7.3 hours per week in the 2009 study to 8.0 hours per week
The end users doesn’t confine their interest to one or two games but, are addicted to many and
certainly don’t have the buying power to buy all of them. Here lies the opportunity for a business
of providing the cloud to these gaming service providers to host their games and application in
our cloud. Also, there are many other famous gaming studios like Microsoft, Sega etc., This
segment is the target population for our business. We, Galactic Gaming provide ‘the cloud’ to
host their gaming applications in the cloud computing environment. Galactic Gaming provides
high end servers which addresses the scalability issues with superior performance at the peak
load times which is a unique problem in gaming business. Also during the peak load, the server
sometimes crashes. But, with our technological advancement, we reduce the down time to a bare
minimum. Our cloud is well equipped with superior technological infrastructure to provide 3D
games with the best graphics quality which guarantees the customer an ultimate gaming
experience. This business model in simple terms, proposes to introduce these gaming software
into the clouds and the customers are charged based on their usage rate.

The company signs a SLA with the customers in various regards like security compliance,
performance compliance, legal compliance etc., and the penalty for the violation of the same.

Revenue model:

The end users of our company’s services are the gamers who are serviced through
Gaming cafés and telecom service providers. We provide the gaming service through the cloud
computing to our end users. The end users will pay the fee for the services provided through
online payment. The financial operations of the company are outsourced to financial service
providers. We classify our Gaming café customers as premium, medium and small based on their
geographical presence and their technological capabilities. The premium users are charged on the
monthly subscription basis. The medium and small users are charged on the usage mode, pay on
the go i.e. they pay for the amount of the service they use. They can use for unlimited service for
the time limit they subscribe. Individual customers also use services and they are charged based
on usage rate.

For mobile users, the service is rendered through mobile service providers. The customers at this
segment are charged based on the mobile technology like GPRS, 3G and WAP and their
subscription period. Advertisements are encouraged in our gaming sites and are charged based
on the pay per click model.

Channel of Distribution:

The service reaches the end user through various channels.

1. Direct selling

2. IT distributors (like Redington)

Issues in Cloud Computing:

The next section explains what are the issues in cloud computing and how this model
tackles it.

1. Security issues:

One of the serious issues in cloud computing as many views is the data security. Well,
Eran Feigenbaum, director of security for Google Apps says, “No security system is 100-percent
secure, and anyone who says otherwise can’t be trusted. There may always be some people who
don’t trust the cloud, just as there are still some people who don’t trust banks and prefer to keep
their valuables under the mattress. However, it can’t be denied that cloud computing is a
fundamental architectural shift spreading through the business world. We’re entering a new era
of computing, similar to the change from mainframes to PCs.” With a traditional software
vulnerability, a patch is released and companies typically take 30-60 days to deploy it. During
that time, they remain vulnerable. With cloud computing, companies don’t need to patch their
own servers. We design our servers with security in mind from the start, and we can patch them
quickly to help ensure our customers are safe. We will be implementing the data canter services
along with the basic security features which normally a data center possesses. In addition to this,
we will also be implementing security measures in order to address the future security issues. We
also have tools like workload management which can address the security issues across
platforms (Linux, Windows, Macintosh, etc.). The company will also frequently assess the
current security issues in the market and will be implementing the solutions addressing all those
issues as and when needed.

Also, the end users who need to access the cloud has to be routed via the client (Gaming
companies). He needs to authenticate the user to access his data. Only with his authentication, we
allow the user to enter the cloud. So, if any problem arises because of that user in the future, the
clients are responsible.

2. Sovereignty:

The customer has a wrong perception that when he is in dispute with the service provider
(us) over payments and when we won’t give the customer’s data back, the customer doesn’t
know which country's court he/she is going to deal with us in? Well, there are 18 different
organizations and standard bodies that are coming up with cloud standards and APIs and we
would comply with all the standards. This should settle down over time as a normal function of
market dynamics and customer demand. We will be entering into contracts with those customers
whose data and processes comply with the legal standards of the country where the data center is
located.

3. Ownership of data:

When companies outsource their system, due diligences are done by both sides. But,
same is not the case in Cloud outsourcing. Hence we have processed the base-line and
standardized everything such that there are clear terms explained in the agreement about the
ownership of the data with the clients.

4. Cost:

The long term objective of any organization is to increase its profitability by creating a
strong customer base. In order to serve their customers, the gaming companies should
possess technically efficient servers with networking capabilities which in turn demands
more money to be spent in their infrastructure. Now, our company have a readymade solution
to address this cost issue for these companies. Pl find attached the financial projections of the
company in the Finance excel sheet.

5. Resistance:

Every novel thing undergoes a period of resistance till it reaches the ‘Hall of Fame’. We
will be promoting our business and the cloud concept using different mediums so that it
motivates the customers to go for cloud computing. (Viral videos, blogs, Trade fairs,
Industrial Journals, etc.)

6. Technical geeky details:

Since cloud computing is a highly technology oriented business, we employ people who
are experts in latest technology. We train our employees in maintenance, support and to
handle security issues. The networking will be outsourced to a highly competent network
management company. So, the customer need not worry at all about the technical geeky
details.
