HANDBOOK
FOR THE
PLAYERS
1.0 Name of the Game:

Road to the Vows

2.0 Introduction of the Game:


This game is about races between the wedding planner to fulfil the requirements in the
checklist of a wedding planner in order to make a wedding happened for their customers.
To do so, the wedding planners need to fulfil the needs by buying properties from the bank
or other players. They also can require the needs from the Get the Gifts card. The winner
of the game should fulfil the requirements in the checklist and have much money in hands
and have plenty of properties at the end of the game. Therefore, the players need to be
smart in their money management and strategies to fulfil the requirements and at the same
time maintain their business performance in stable and active status. In addition, this game
is inspired from Monopoly game.

3.0 Goals the game


The players (wedding planner) needs to complete the wedding planner checklist in order
to make weddings happened for their customer. The player also needs to have stable
financial status by having enough money to pay upgrade service package, pay taxes,
fines, buy properties and insurances till the end of the game to run their business well. The
most successful wedding planner will complete the wedding planner checklist and have
the most amount of money and values of properties and services.

5.0 Number of players


• This game can be played by 3-5 players.
• Suitable for any ages from 12 years old and above.
6.0 Rules of the Game
i. Every player received RM 16,000 and a Wedding Player Checklist before the
game.
ii. Every player throws dice to decide the turns.
iii. Every player will get RM 2000 for passing or landing on “Let’s Go” box.
iv. The players create their incomes and fulfils their checklist by buying properties, get
gifts from the Get the Gifts! Card.
v. All the players need to obey to all payments, fines, taxes, loans and insurance
issued by the Bank.
vi. It is advisable for the players to upgrade their services and buy the insurance cards
if they land on insurance boxes.
vii. Be tolerate and honest during selling, buying and trading properties.
viii. No cheating and stealing money.
ix. Banker needs to play their role well by being alert to all the events throughout the
game.
x. Insurance Boxes cannot be owned by anyone, if anyone land on any of the boxes,
the player needs to pay and get Insurance Cards which can be redeemed during
withdrawal of Boom! card.
xi. If you land in “Go to Holiday’ and sent to Holiday Trip box, you must exit on your
next turn by
a) Using “Free Holiday Trip Pass” card if you have
b) Rolling doubles
c) Paying RM 500
xii. The penalty of Income Tax RM 2000 and Assets RM 1000
xiii. The game will end if one of the players complete the wedding planner checklist. All
the players will count their value by
a) Cash on their hand
b) Properties (printed on the property cards), special cards worth and service
upgrade price

The one who complete the Wedding Planner checklist and richest will won the
competition.

7.0 How to play the game?


7.1 Preparation before the game
Place the game sheet on the table. Place the Get the Gift! cards and the Boom! cards on
their allocated spaces on the game sheet. Each player chooses one token to represent
him or her throughout the game.

7.1.1 What each player will get?


a) Money
Each player is given some amount of money which are:
1) RM 10- 10 pieces
2) RM 50- 2 pieces
3) RM 100- 4 pieces
4) RM 200- 2 pieces
5) RM 500- 2 pieces
6) RM 1000- 4 pieces
7) RM 5000- 2 pieces
Therefore, the total of the money each player will get are RM16,000. All the
remaining money goes to the bank.

b) Selecting the Banker


Select as Banker a player who will also make a good Auctioneer. A banker who
plays in the game must keep his/her personal funds separate from those of the
Bank. When more than five person plays, the Banker may elect to act only as
Banker and Auctioneer.

c) Functions of the Bank


• Besides the Bank’s money, the Bank holds the Property Cards and
Insurance Cards prior to purchase and use by the players. The Bank pays
the salaries, bonuses and receive payments. It sells and auctions properties
and hands out their Property Cards. The banker also loans money when
required on mortgages.
• The bank collects all taxes, fines, loans, interest, payments and the price of
all properties which it sells and auctions.
• The bank never “goes broke”. If the Bank run outs of money, the Banker
may issue as much more as may be needed by merely writing on any
ordinary paper.
• The banker also issued the Insurance Cards when the players reach every
Insurance Boxes in the game. The players need to pay for every issued card
to be redeem for the Boom! Cards mission.
• The banker also gives out the Wedding Planner Checklist to the player
before the game and explain on what they need to do with the cards.

7.2 Start the game


Starting with the Banker (if the banker plays), each player in turn throws the dice. The
player with highest total starts the game. Place your token on the corner marked “Let’s
GO”, throw the dice and move your token in the direction of the arrow the number of
spaces indicated by the dice. The token remains on the spaces occupied and proceed to
the next player. For the next turn around, proceed from the spaces you stop before.

For the first round, the players cannot buy any properties and being charged of any
loans, taxes, fines, payments and insurance because the players haven’t received
any salary. The players can start to buy the properties from the Bank and the can be
charged of any loans, taxes, fines and payments start from the second round until the end
of game. The player also can start to acquire the Insurance Cards and fulfil the needs in
the Wedding Planner checklist.

7.3 Special Boxes in the Game


a) ‘Let’s GO’
Each time a player’s token lands on or passes over ‘Let’s GO’, whether by drawing a
card or throwing the dice, the Banker will pay him/her a RM 2000 salary for each round.
However, if they draw a card from Get a Gift cards and the instruction allow the player
to pass through ‘Let’s Go’ boxes, the Banker will play another RM 2000 for the salary
to the player.

b) ‘Holiday Trip’
You land on this box when:
• Your token lands on the space marked “Go to Holiday Trip”
• You draw a card marked “Go to Holiday Trip and you cannot run your wedding plan”
• You throw doubles three times in succession

When you are sent to Holiday Trip you cannot collect your RM 2000 salary regardless
of where you are. Your turn ends when you sent to Holiday Trip.
If you are not sent to the ‘Holiday Trip’ but just happened to land on that box, you are
“Just Visiting the Travel Blog” and you will not be charge of any penalty and you move
ahead like usual for your next turn.

You end your “Holiday Trip” by:

• Throwing doubles on any of your next turn and if you succeed, you will move
forward according to the number of the doubles you get
• Use the “Free Holiday Trip Pass” card if you have it
• Purchasing “Free Holiday Trip Pass” card from another player
• Paying the holiday trip fee for RM 500 and you can play for your next turn

Even though you are in Holiday Trip you still can collects rents.

c) Shopping Day
A player landing on this box does not receive any money, property, reward or even
fines. This is just a resting day for the wedding planner from all his or her schedule and
do whatever they want while their business still running.

d) Insurance Boxes
There will be 4 insurance boxes in the game. Each time every player land on any of
these boxes, the player needs to pay RM 500 to the Banker and the Banker will give
the player an insurance card. The player can decide not to pay RM 500 and did not get
the card. However, it is advisable for the player to buy for future use. These boxes
cannot be owned.

e) Get the Gift! box and Boom! box


If the player land on this box, the player needs to draw a card from the Get the Gift!
cards deck and Boom! card deck. The player needs to read the card and follow the
instructions on the card.

f) Asset and Income Tax boxes


i. Income Tax

If you land here, you have two options:

• Pay RM 2000 to the bank


• You may pay 10% of your total worth to the Bank. Your total worth is all your
cash on hand, properties, all the buildings you have, special cards and
mortgaged properties. You must decide which option to take before you count
all your worth.
ii. Asset
If you land here, you have to pay RM 1000 to the bank to pay tax for your asset’s
validity.

7.4 Special Cards in the Game


In this game there are few special cards for the player.
a) Get the Gift! cards
When you land on either one of these boxes, take the top cards from the deck (Pink
Rose Flower) indicated, follow the instructions and return the card face down to the
bottom of the deck.

The “Free Holiday Trip Pass” card is held by the player who gets the card until him/her
used it to the bottom of the deck. If the player who draws it does not wish to use it, he/she
may sell the card to the other player or the bank for RM 500.

For those cards who offers discount, the player who get this card will go to the destination
mentioned on the cards and buy the package from the owner of the property. The
payment from the buyer will go to the owner not the Bank.

b) Boom! Cards
When you land on either one of these boxes, take the top cards from the deck (Blue
Rose Flower) indicated, follow the instructions and return the card face down to the
bottom of the deck.

This deck consists of life and general insurance payments and other missions. The
player can make payments for their insurance using the insurance card that they
acquired throughout of the game when they land on the insurance boxes. If the player
did not have the insurance card, they need to pay the amount of money stated on the
cards to the Bank or trying to purchasing the insurance cards from other players.

c) Insurance Cards
The player will acquire an insurance card every time they land on insurance boxes and
pay RM 500. These cards can be redeemed when the player draws the Boom! card
which instruct them to pay or buy for some insurance policy stated on the cards.
However, they need to see the type of insurance cards needed on the Boom! cards.
There will be life insurance cards and general insurance card.

Any players who did not have these cards can buy from other player at the same price
or pay the amount of money stated on the cards. The insurance card needed to be
return to the bank after being used. This card is only per single use only.

d) Property Cards
Property card will be issued by the Banker when the player land on a property and buys
it. The player needs to pay the bank the price printed prior to get the card.
Front of the card will consist of the name of the properties and its number with the
price the player needs to pay.
Back of the cards:
i) The service price which the other players need to pay when they land on your
properties
ii) The upgrade service price:
Amount of money you need to pay if you want to upgrade your service in which the
same amount of money the other players need to pay when they land on your
properties after you upgrade. You can upgrade your services when you land on your
own land.
Therefore, it is advisable for you to upgrade your services to increase your incomes
and money amount.

7.5 Special Rights for the Player


a. Get RM2000 pass through “Let’s Go” box
b. Player needs to draw Get the Gifts! Cards and Boom! cards if landed on the boxes
c. Get Insurance Cards by paying RM500 to be redeemed during withdrawal of Boom!
cards
d. Players can get special discounts, gifts or sponsorship and money in Get the Gifts!
Cards to increase the amount of money or fulfil the Wedding Planner checklist
e. The owner of property can sell customer service package to the buyer who get
discount in Get the Gifts! Card and get the payment
f. The owner of the special cards who did not wish to use it can sell it to other player to
get income
g. The owner of the properties who land on your own properties can upgrade your
service based on the back of property card
h. The player who land on others’ properties must pay the site rent for trespassing
others’ people land. The payment will be differed if the owner increased the upgrade
service. Thus, the trespasser needs to pay the owner the upgrade service price if they
land on it. (excluded those who gets to the properties through Get the Gift! cards)
i. When the player land on the income tax box, they need to pay RM2000 and RM1000
when they land on Asset Box.
j. The player needs to move to ‘Holiday Trip’ box when land on ‘Go to Holiday’ box and
stop their business for a while before they able to end the trip by throwing doubles,
pays RM500 or use “Free Holiday Trip Pass’ if they have it.
k. If the player land on ‘Shopping Day’ box, they will not get any fines or charges.
l. The players need to complete the Wedding Planner Checklist.
m. The players need to be wise in buying properties, selling properties and trade their
properties. Remember, fulfilling the Wedding Planner checklist the priority of this
game to make the vows happened for your customer.

7.6 Wedding Planner Checklist


This checklist will be given by the Banker to the player before the game.
The players (wedding planner) need to complete this checklist before ending and win the
game.
Ways to complete this checklist:
i. Buy properties from the Bank
ii. Buy properties from other players
iii. Get from Get the Gift Card (either players get free pass to the items from the shops
or get discount)
once they get the item (eg. Get discount 10% from the florist, so they need to buy the
flower to complete the checklist)
*However, the players can refuse to get the discount if they already have the
item/properties. The players who already have the item and wants to refuse it, they have
three option:
• purchasing the item from the shops with discount or for free (depends on the offer on
the card) and sell it to others players with 10% discount from the price you pay
• purchase the items and keep it before you trade it with other players
• the banker will offer the card to other players with double price that they need to pay
Those players who already complete the checklist will end and win the game.
7.7 Process of buying properties
Whenever you land on an unowned property, the player may buy that property from the
Bank as its printed price. You will receive the Property Card from the Bank. Place it face
up to you.

The players also can buy properties from other players if they wish to sell it.

7.8 Process of selling properties


The players can sell their properties to other players or the Bank if they are out of money
and in debt toward other players and the Bank.
The players can also sell the properties or the special cards they get if they already have
the item from the shops in the checklist to other player to get income.

7.9 Process of trading properties

The players can trade their properties with other players in order to complete their
checklist. For example:

Player A needs Catering but he/she did not have it. Player B have it.

Player B needs florist but he/she did not have it. Player A have it.

These players can trade or exchange their properties/special cards to fulfil each other
need.

Both players need to pay the same price they buy the properties. They can pay with the
properties they exchange with each other and only pay extra when the property is cheaper
or expensive from each other. For example:

Catering: RM 1000

Florist: RM 700

Therefore, player A need to pay another RM300 to player B since the catering cost
RM1000.

8.0 Bankruptcy
You are declared bankrupt if you owe more than you can pay either to another player or
Bank and you cannot pay them even after you have sold all of your properties.
i) To another player
You must turn over to that player all you have of value and retire from game.
ii) To the bank
You also must turn over all assets to the Bank. In this case, the Bank will auction all the
property taken.

9.0 Ending the game


9.1 Winner of the Game
The winner of the game should be:
i. Fulfil and complete the Wedding Planner Checklist
ii. Have the most money and highest value

Important: If the player complete all the checklist but have lower amount of money
and value from another player who fulfil the characteristic of the winner above, this
player will be on 1ST Runner Up. Those players who have not complete the checklist
but have more money, still cannot go above the player who have complete the
checklist. Those players who haven’t complete the checklist, their places in the game
will be decided by their amount of money and value.
Example:
Player B- Complete the checklist & have RM30 000(Winner)
Player C- Complete the checklist & have RM15 000 (1ST Runner Up)
Player A- Do not complete the checklist & have RM20 000 (2 ND Runner Up)
Player D- Do not complete the checklist & have RM15 000 (3 RD Runner Up)

The game will end if 2 players have completed the checklist (4 players)
The game will end if 2 players have completed the checklist (5 players)
